“Maturity is the ability to think, speak and act your feeling within the bounds of dignity. The measure of your maturity is how spiritual you become during the midst of your frustrations.” Samuel Ullman.I have changed a lot throughout my freshman year. I’ve grown stronger emotionally and physically with my decision making skills. I speak my mind and act how i feel i express myself with confidence and my spirits never swing low. I have been under pressure to maintain my own standards in academics as well as outside of them I have succeeded and developed into a mature teen. I had to learn new things and figure out how everything actually worked. Everything started stressing me out even the first couple of tests. I wrote, “I’m so nervous, I’m having my first test in World History. I feel like I didn’t study as much as I wanted to… failing the test is not a choice,” (November 20, 2015). This quote shows that I felt very worried about not studying as much as i wanted to. The first couple of tests I was worried I wouldn’t get the grade I actually wanted. Im taking my first world history test and I’m having trouble managing my stress over preparation. I write, “I’m getting used to this atmosphere, everything is getting better and I’m understanding how these classroom actually work. My grades are improving and I’m really happy that I’m a better me since the beginning of the year” (February 26, 2015). At the beginning of the school year, I felt like everyone at that school was able to be my friends. After few months i started noticing changes from everyone at school. I write, “I feel lost around my friends, not belonging but somewhat I’m still with them” (November 15, 2015). In my quote i’m hanging out with my friends but i don’t feel right around them. I feel like they wouldn’t have my back if i needed them.This quote shows that feeling that one doesn’t belong is not right. Friends the I didn’t feel comfortable with was not right to be with. Im chilling with some people i know that i call friends but i feel like they wouldn’t be there for me when i need them. I write, “I’m a whole different person. My friends have changed so much over the year. Thinking I would never be with the ones who I’m hanging out with” (May 12, 2016). My friends make me get rid of my insecurities. They have changed and proven to me they are true friends.The kind of friends one has can change so much throughout the year. I was able to learn that my first group of friends would never stay with me forever. Months past and I changed from one group to the other figuring who were the right ones for me.
