The party composition of San Francisco is democrat. This is also true for the San Francisco-Hayward MSA, the bay area, and the overall number of voters in California. The governor of California, Jerry Brown, is also a democrat. There are some conservative and republican areas in California such as much of Northeast California (The New York Times, 2017).

Spanish settlers built the Mission San Antonio de Valero, named for St. Anthony of Padua, on the banks of the San Antonio River around 1718. They also established the nearby military garrison of San Antonio de Béxar, which soon became the center of a settlement known as San Fernando de Béxar (later renamed San Antonio). The Mission San Antonio de Valero housed missionaries and their Native American converts for some 70 years until 1793, when Spanish authorities secularized the five missions located in San Antonio and distributed their lands among local residents.Beginning in the early 1800s, Spanish military troops were stationed in the abandoned chapel of the former mission. On our journey to Brownsville the first struggle we encountered was with transportation to get to Broadway Junction. Of course the MTA isn't always reliable but there were frequent stops in between stops. While waiting for the train to get up and running again various people said things like “ugh not again,” “Something always happens on the A” and other similar phrases as well as others that seemed accustomed to train issues. Now if you think about it, the A train is highly populated by Hispanics and Black people. Could this have to do with why the MTA hasn't attempted to fix their transit situation. On another note most of the trains heading toward Brooklyn and the Bronx have the older not modernized train carts than the ones heading toward Manhattan or Queens. Theres a huge change in atmosphere just in the manner of transportation.
Before the 1880s, the are of eastern Brooklyn that was to become Brownsville was known as New Lots. This territory was primarily farmland, but it was also the location of the city’s largest waste dump, as well as the site of several facilities that supplied stone and other building materials. In its early history, New Lots had a diverse population. English and Irish settlers, Jewish immigrants, and a small number of African-Americans farmed the land. Others were attracted to the area by the open space and relatively fresh fresh air it provided. Brownsville at one time was a place for waste-disposal, a tenement slum, a haven for Jews before they were accepted, the cradle of a major crime origination, a testing-ground for public-housing and
The struggles of the City of San Bernardino, California are well documented; one of the highest crime rates in the state and the country, extensive acres of urban blight, a median household income under forty-thousand, which has left residents living in poverty, a cash insolvency as a result of mismanagement, which has left the City in chapter nine bankruptcy for three and a half years, and a political climate distorted from lack of experience, and conflicting ideologies and agendas. Also well documented is the strained relationship of between the City and the Unions that represent its employees. Most notably the firefighter’s union, which has sued the City on numerous occasions over pension, overtime and overall work conditions. As part of the City’s plan to exit bankruptcy the firefighters will be annexed into San Bernardino county fire. This moves makes it that much more important for the City and the union to resolve its differences for the good of the firefighters.
The beautiful city of Baltimore, Maryland, nicknamed “Charm City” is full of historical cites and landmarks. It was founded July 30, 1729, and it was named after Lord Baltimore, the first proprietary governor of the Province of Maryland1. It was founded to serve the economic needs of 18th century farmers2. The waterways in Baltimore have been a passage for ships carrying commercial cargo and new citizens since the 1600s. Baltimore became the second leading port of entry for immigrants to the United States during the 1800s. Shipbuilding was one of the earliest industries in Baltimore, and it increased during the Revolution and the War of 1812. When the British controlled Philadelphia in 1777, Baltimore became the meeting place of the

The community that I will be describing is the city of Long Beach. In this city there are many people of age and ethnicity. This city is very diverse in having many people of different cultures and backgrounds. Downtown Long Beach is where people go to eat, have fun and hang out near the Pike. At the Pike is where you’ll find a lot of young people going to the movies or shopping. In this city it is filled with young adults and they are the majority of the community. A lot of the young adults have jobs and there are some that are going to school. Younger adults are more prone to trying new things which sometimes can lead into a health issue. In this city I will be discussing a main health problem that might be relatable to other cities. The health problem that will be discussed is the use of tobacco products in young adults. Some products are cigarettes, e-cigarettes, vapes, chewing tobacco, and hookah. These products are used daily by young adults in this community.

The San Andreas fault line has caused constant development nightmares for large urban areas such as San Francisco as well as the other cities built on top of it. Fault lines are one of the side effects of the earth’s tectonic plates shifting that can result in devastating earthquakes. Some of the most devastating earthquakes in our modern era have occurred along the San Andreas fault line due to a dense population. The most notable and destructive earthquake on the San Andreas fault line occurred in San Francisco in 1906. The reason this earthquake was so deadly was because of its magnitude and the city’s poor planning. This earthquake was a wakeup call for San Francisco and force the city to revolutionize its knowledge on earthquakes and how to protect their city. Today San Francisco is one of the most well prepared cities for an earthquake and has made great discoveries in earthquake safety measures. The 1906 earthquake in San Francisco has drastically changed how the city has developed its zoning and building code policies, and its earthquake research.
Los Angeles was the first product off the assembly line of American urban planning. Turned on in the late 19th century, the city-making machine was fueled by an immense immigration of people who sought to create a new type of city out of the previously quaint pueblo. They also strove to craft the first major city developed primarily by Americans and outside of European archetypes. As a result, Los Angles is not only incredibly diverse, but also nearly impossible to define. Since it is a product of the American machine, understanding the community of Los Angeles becomes vital to understanding the United States. But to fully comprehend the present Los Angeles, one must look at the process that created it. Specifically, Los Angeles was

Where I live is one of the greatest neighborhoods in the city to live in; however it does have its draw backs. Importantly it has nearly everything a resident might want, beautiful picturesque scenery, proximity to shopping, and many of the cultural centers. Nevertheless the roads can be some of the most congested in town, and the streets are not safe to walk late at night.
