The Myall Creek Massacre occurred in the early evening of Sunday the 10th June 1838. A group of eleven men, convicts and ex-convict stockmen, viscously slaughtered a group of around twenty eight Wirrayaraay Aboriginal people. They attacked men, women and children who were all either camped peacefully next to the station huts or, inside the station with the other settlers, enjoying dancing and a meal together (at the Myall Creek cattle station in northern New South Wales).
One of the worst school shootings in American history. First, in the morning Adam lanza killed his mother and then goes to the Sandy Hook school with 3 guns. Adam walked in and killed 20 kids and six adults. He then killed himself. Because of the light security, Adam lanza went in the school and then he was able to do whatever he wanted to. Because the school had low security, the shooter walked right into the school and killed lots of people.
More than a quarter of a million Africans were brought to the American colonies. Most of them worked on larger plantations on the south. Many American’s lost their jobs and they blamed it on the British. This caused the Boston Massacre also known as the Bloody Massacre. On the streets of Boston, a mob of Patriots fill the area. There were eight British soldiers that faced this angry mob. The words of a young man named Edward Garrick started this massacre. African American Crispus Attucks was killed instantly along with four other Patriots. This changed history forever. The British then repealed all taxes except on tea. The Patriots reacted by dumping over one million dollars worth of tea into the Boston Harbor. The British make a bold decision
On March 5, 1770, a British Sentry was being harassed by several Boston Citizens. They chirped and threw snowballs at him until he couldn’t take it anymore. He yelled for help and seven more British soldiers came to his aid. Soon many more Boston Civilians came to the scene which caused more distress. This terrible event would end with five people killed and several injured and lead me to believe that the British soldiers are not guilty.
On March 5, 1770 around nine o’clock a group of colonists gathered at the old state house and began to taunt British soldiers stationed there. One was struck by a rock being thrown by a colonist, his rifle discharging as he fell. The other soldiers began firing, and after the smoke cleared five colonists were dead. Captain Preston, who was the captain of the 29th Regiment of Foot, later gave an account on the trial that states that the massacre was a blunder on the British soldier’s part. Preston’s account states that the British were there to protect the king’s chest that Preston thought would be plundered by the colonists. The colonialists were mostly responsible for the Boston Massacre; the British troops were only acting on the defensive.
With the sun rising on a morning in May of 1636, roughly 500 Pequot men, women, and children lay slaughtered on the ground. This was the outcome of the Mystic Fort Battle. The Puritans in New England thought they were entitled to the land and resources that the Native Americans had. With the smallpox epidemic killing thousands of Native Americans who were not prepared for the disease, the Puritans; especially John Winthrop thought that this was God's way of telling the Puritans that this land was meant for them and not the Native Americans (Edwards).
The Opelousas Massacre was a horrifying event that occurred on September 28, 1868, in Landry Parish, Louisiana. The riot was sparked by conflict between black freedmen and whites over the political control of the state of Louisiana. This resulted in a massive killing of blacks as whites had the overwhelming advantage in numbers and weapons. What’s most interesting about this case is the mystery surrounding the accounts of deaths. No one can approximately confirm how many people were killed in this massacre. Some sources identify as few as 30 people killed. Other sources estimate killings to over 300 people. The Opelousas Massacre was one of the deadliest riots to occur against African Americans during the era of Reconstruction.
Mountain Meadows Massacre was staged on the Baker- Fancher wagon. The Massacre happened on September 11 ,1857. The Massacre was a huge deal for us in Arkansas. BANG!!! A gun was fired, people scattered across the fields in panic running as fast as possible people’s hearts racing, the smell of smoke at the tents from the fire, people shouting and searching for their families. The sound of a train passing by when it all stopped, the train was blocking the shots, it was their chance to hide behind behind the hills or run far away were they couldn't see them. Others were brave and picked up rifles or pistols etc and did anything to fight back against the national guards this is what would become one of the worst massacres in Colorado between capital and labor. I was a news reporter and my job was to report the Ludlow Massacre by asking Ludlow survivors.
On the day of September 11, 1857, an emigrant party camped at Mountain Meadows was brutally killed by the Mormon militia aided by Indians. This essay examines two viewpoints regarding the massacre found in Sally Denton’s “American Massacre” and in “Massacre at Mountain Meadows” by Ronald W. Walker, Richard E. Turley, and Glen M. Turley.
The Sand Creek Massacre involved many native tribes, including the Cheyenne, Arapaho, Sioux, Kiowa, and Comanche. Among many of these tribes were the targeted, Black Kettle and White Antelope leaders of the Cheyenne. Left Hand and Little Raven were the Arapaho chiefs. “The Cheyenne and the Arapaho were the tribes that were mainly affected in this massacre.” (Hoig 15)
The Jonestown Massacre is one of the most horrific massacres of 1978 leading close to 1,000 deaths. I found this story to be very disturbing and at times I found myself thinking how can one person have so much power over so many minds. This massacre leads many people being manipulated by a psychopath by the name of Reverend Jim Jones who would set the stage of a mass suicide. Many questions were needing to be answered after this tragic event in history, what methods were used to get so many people to do what he said, the state of mind the Jones and others were in, what environmental factors played a role in this situation, what was the purpose, so many of these same questions I asked myself as I got future in the story. Nonetheless, psychological factors for sure played a part, power, and manipulation for ones gain all were contributors here.
It was November 29 1864, I was with my brother Kiaan. He was fifteen years old. My name was Hansh and I was only thirteen years old. We were outside my village practicing archery. My brother was a really good bowhunter, he taught me everything I do. Once we headed back to our village my mom was cooking corn and deer meat, that my father killed the day before. We were planning to have a picnic soon. Then it happened, we heard screaming and hollering across the village. My brother and I looked around our Tipi and there we saw it. Hundreds of soldiers were attacking our village, my heart sunk. I thought my life was over, my dad screamed “Get back!” My brother told me “protect your mother and get away from here” So I grabbed my mother's
