¨Stand up for what you believe in even if it means standing alone-unknown In the short story Eleven by Sandra Cisneros Rachel faces in three battles that she loses with a bow against a string. I found that sometimes people struggle to stand up for themselves when challenged by people with stronger personality, there are three reason I came up with to support this Rachel losses herself when challenged by mrs.price, sylvia and when she thinks about the time on the clock. One reason that she is challenged by higher personality is when Rachel is challenged by mrs.price she loses the battle and herself when she starts to cry in front of the class and gets embarrassed because of it which leads to our next reason she wants to take the ugly yarn sweater
It’s important for people to stand up for themselves because if they don’t, they will never improve and they’ll be vulnerable when they are threatened or treated unfairly. In this quote, Melinda is stuck in the janitors closet and is being attacked by Andy Evans. But then Melinda chooses to fight back, she grabs a piece of broken glass and puts it to his throat: “His lips are paralyzed. He cannot speak. That’s good enough. Me: ‘I said no.’” (Anderson Pg 195). If she had not been courageous enough to stand up for herself, she could have been hurt, or worse. That’s why it is important to be courageous and for people to protect themselves. Giving up and giving in could be detrimental to them and move them farther away from their goal or get themselves hurt.
In the real world, we can connect to the people who do not stand up for themselves in their life, you need to be courageous and positive every time.
Each of us have done a thing or two that churn our stomachs to even slightly remember them. The time you split your pants. The time you fell down while walking at graduation. While each of these instances are absolutely horrid, they shape who one becomes over time. The short story, “Eleven” by Sandra Cisneros, follows an eleven year old girl named Rachel who has to cope with one of life’s sucker punches on what would have be a wonderful day; her birthday. The terrifying incident involving a disgusting red sweater that Rachel describes as “raggedy”, “old”, and smelling of “cottage cheese”. The emotions that these events evoke in Rachel, coupled with various literary techniques and choices such as stream of consciousness style writing, decisions

Courage is what is right even if others don't like it. In the novel Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry Mildred D Taylor uses Cassie as a character and she fights for what's right. The first time Cassie shows courage is protecting her brother ”Miz Crocker please don't!”I said Miz Crockers dark eyes warned me to not say another word.”I know why he done it” The second one was when she stood up to Mr. Barnett “I ain’t nobody's little n*****!”I screamed, angry and humiliated. The third time she was standing up for her Papa ”Who said that!”I cried jumping up from the bank”Just tell me who did that it and I’ll ram...”We automatically knew that Cassie was going to be an outspoken little girl that was sassy. She was born when equality

In the short story, “Eleven”, by Sandra Cisneros, the main character, Rachel, feels upset with both the teacher and her fellow students because she feels mistreated, she feels made fun of, and she openly weeps in front of the entire class. Rachel, throughout the story, feels mistreated because the teacher, Ms. Price, will not accept the fact that the red sweatshirt does not belong to Rachel. It can be inferred that other classmates also show this kind of behavior to Rachel, even though it is not directly stated in the story. On multiple occasions, the teacher, along with other pupils, repeatedly say that the sweater belongs to Rachel. For example, the teacher states to Rachel that, “You put that sweater on right now and no more nonsense.” A
In “Making Sarah Cry” the characters show courage by standing up to bullies. For example, at the beginning of the story, the character Sarah gets bullied which every day she would do the same. She would always come back outside where the bullies were every day and stand there, take their insults
You see that skinny boy 50 feet on the wall, covered in white powder and shaking, about to fall? “Yeah, that’s me”. The thing is, this is not like any teen story because something horrific is not happening, rather, something special. Something new. Something unexpected. I finally conquered a 5.11. Now, you may be wondering what a 5.11 is and why I have white powder and why I am so high. No, I promise I am not high, well, I am, but on a rock climbing wall in Stone Summit of Kennesaw.
It’s easy to stand with the crowd. It takes courage to stand alone. In the novel, Roll of Thunder, Hear my Cry Mildred D. Taylor introduces Cassie Logan who has a lot of courage. Cassie was courageous because she stood up for her brother even though she knew that she would get in trouble for it, she told the worker at the Wallace store to wait on her instead of the white people, and she beat up Lillian Jean. Would you stand up for something that is not right even when you know you will get in trouble?
Would You? Would you stand up for what you believe in, even if it meant you would face punishments? This question was incorporated in the story A & P when three girls walk into a store and after shopping around go to the checkout counter where they get embarrassed. The checkout clerk does not agree with embarrassing them so once they leave, he quits his job because of what he believed. For that reason, the message of this story is to stand up for what you believe in, no matter what the punishments are.
Growing up with parents who are immigrants can present many obstacles for the children of those immigrants. There are many problems people face that we do not even realize. Things happen behind closed doors that we might not even be aware of. Writers Sandra Cisneros and Amy Tan help us become aware of these problems. Both of these authors express those hardships in their stories about growing up with foreign parents. Although their most apparent hardships are about different struggles, both of their stories have a similar underlying theme.
Courageous is a quality portrayed by these three incidents throughout the story. One, the Barnett store in Strawberry, two when cassie beat up Lillian Jean, and three, when Cassie led her younger siblings by herself to reach their home. These three incidents show that courageous is a trait that well describes Cassie. This first incident that shows Cassie’s courage takes
