One’s sanity is not something you can control. Without sanity comes madness, but it is within our minds and grows over time if not released or helped. For Hamlet he chooses to give the appearance as if he is mad I order to find the truth about his father’s death. In the beginning of his plan everything is going good but as time goes by Hamlet is slowly losing control of his madness and his mind begins to spin out of control. Something that started as an act of insanity or antic disposition became more of a reality, before it ends as Hamlet’s real life and tragedy for many people.
The events in the beginning of the play have the possibility to drive someone mad. Hamlet finds out about his father’s death as he returns to Denmark. Additionally his mother got married to King Claudius, the brother of King Hamlet. With his …show more content…

Hamlet is cognizant of the importance of having the correct facts because otherwise he may unjustly kill his uncle and have to deal with the consequences. With him acting mad he gives him access to gain information about his father’s murder. Through his route to revenge he finds himself getting into a depression and questions his existence, which is shown as he has suicidal thoughts again, “to be or not to be.”
Hamlet’s madness is starting to take over him and it’s affecting his relationship with Ophelia. As his journey continues he starts treating and acting differently. Ophelia confronts him about their feeling about one another, but instead Hamlet tells her that he never loved her. Ophelia’s dad forbids her from seeing him. Ophelia is devastated by the whole situation.
