The fourth lesson Santiago learned is that dreams can come into two forms, sleeping and through aspirations. While he was sleeping he dreamed that a small child showed him a treasure near the bottom of the Pyramid. This dream led Santiago to pursue his destiny. He also learned that dreams are linked through aspirations. For instance Santiago’s dream of the treasure provides him of a goal; then Santiago left and went to go and find that goal. Then in the end good things occurred in that Santiago found out his Personal Legends. Throughout life dreams can and will come true. First if someone dreams or thinks about it then it is probable that whatever that particular dream is will come true. In order for that dream to come true there should be
Santiago changes in many ways. He changes from worrying about the future, to not worrying. He learns that
What makes a hero be a hero? A hero has to have certain characteristics, such as; bravery, wisdom, etc. No matter what characteristics are pointed out, every story has a hero, or an archetypal hero. From a short stories to really long novels, you will have some type of hero. In the novel The Alchemist, the main character Santiago is a hero. The book is about how everyone should live their dreams and never give up on them. It follows a young man named Santiago who is following his own dream, or his own “Personal Legend”. It follows him and his struggles to achieve said Personal Legend. Santiago is a hero because he is wise, kind, and brave; He is also a hero because he displays characteristics of an archetypal hero..
In The Alchemist by Paul Coelho the obstacle that is most significant to Santiago's growth is the fear of defeat because he is able to become more successful after being left with nothing in Morocco, able to prove himself to the Oasis after convincing the chieftains of and oncoming attack, and able to transform himself into wind after being forced to do so for his life.
Santiago’s growth was inspiring to me. He has learned a great deal from action. He learns quite a lot about the land and his sheep by being a shepherd and paying attention to the world around him. His grandfather had mentioned to him a while back of an omen. “By traveling, watching and paying attention, the world will speak to Santiago to help him find is Personal Legend.” Through action, Santiago learns how easy it is to search for one’s Personal Legend. Everyone has their own way of learning things. For example when Santiago decides to try reading the Englishman’s book and he would try and read the signs of the desert. The boy does not learn a thing from the book and the Englishman learns nothing from watching the caravan. Just as Santiago
In my opinion Santiago, a shepherd boy from Andalusian town, changed the most in this novel. In the beginning of the story he was scared to trust in himself and follow his dreams. Santiago goes to the extent of searching for help from a gypsy. She tells him his meaning of his own dream and instead of trusting her he seeks another opinion. He goes on a journey across the Sahara to reach the Alchemist. When he asked The Alchemist how to turn himself into wind and he doesn’t get step by step instructions he is forced to trust his own judgement and intuition and believe in himself to figure it out. At the end of the story, he encounters a robber who talks to Santiago about his dream and why he would go on a journey across the Sahara. Santiago realizes
Have you ever had people in your life influence your character development? In “The Alchemist”, many people that Santiago encounters help him develop his personal character. They help Santiago develop his character in many ways, I'll be mentioning Santiago's mentors during his character development and journey. I'll talk about the ways that these mentors helped Santiago through his journey and personal journey. The main mentors that helped Santiago during his journey of finding his personal legend and going after his dreams are the king of Salem, the alchemist, Fatima, and the crystal merchant.
The biggest ally Santiago has in the Alchemist is his father. At first, he was hesitant to let Santiago become a shepherd because he felt that many people came to see Andalusia, so he was confused why he would want to leave. In the end, his father gave him his blessing, a little pouch that contained 3 ancient gold coins, and a plan. “I found these one day in the fields. I want them to be a part of your inheritance.
How do you find yourself? Santiago goes on a journey of self discovery, growing and tempering his soul into a fine blade of wisdom. Santiago grows from reflecting upon his past, expanding his view of the world and obtaining a new profound sense of determination. Santiago’s journey allows him to understand the world and transforms him into the man he seeks to become. Santiago's mentality and self determination grow tremendously throughout the story, with him being truly tested when the “friendly” local steals his money, leaving him confused and broke in an unfamiliar land.
Have you ever wanted something so bad that you would do whatever it takes to get that thing? You put it all on the line just to achieve that goal? I'm sure all of us have had a goal that we really aspire towards. It takes a lot of hard work, but in the end you are glad you did because you have reaped your reward. This is what Santiago in “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho and Krakauer in “Into Thin Air” by Jon Krakauer have to do in their books.

These people make the fate of the book and without them Santiago would be living a day by day life.
In order to achieve happiness, one must be willing to verve an enormous measure in order to do great wonders, such as to take a journey of a lifetime. In the novel The Alchemist, Santiago’s journey led him to the Egyptian pyramids, in which he found his personal legend. Santiago’s instinct and perseverance pushed him to achieve his goal, accentuating a similar travels and aspirations in the non-fiction world. Within the news article “Man Completes Epic 26-Year, 550,000-Mile Road Trip Around the World in One Unbreakable Car” the journalist Sumitra depicts the last 30 years of a man who traveled to far out places in order to obtain the ultimate achievement of happiness by taking road trip around world. Throughout The Alchemist there were many twists and turns as well as changes to the main character Santiago. He had to adapt to the different ways of life in each place he visited, and had the tenacity to never give up on his journey even when times became tough, i.e. when he was robbed. Santiago started out as a shepherd, happy with how life was, maybe a sense of wanting more; later he encountered a king, gypsies, and others along the way who literally wanted him to follow his dreams because they could change a person’s life. He had to take risks and leave everything he had known behind to follow something he knew little to none about. When Santiago wanted to stay within his boundaries, he was pushed by the people he met which enabled him
Santiago starts out as a normal young man that has the same reoccurring dream when he sleeps under a sycamore tree that grows out of an abandoned church where a young boy tells Santiago to find the treasure at the Pyramids in Egypt. Santiago, not trusting his instinct of what the dream means, goes to a Gypsy dream interpreter
I find that Santiago’s journey is fairly unlikely to ever occur in real life. At the end of the novel, Santiago digs for his treasure but finds nothing, however the one man in the world that would tell him another place so search just so happens to be right there waiting. The odds of this happening are very low at best. Another thing that is impossible to occur in real life is someone turning lead into gold. This is not something that could be done.
