Sara Zarr's novel Story of a Girl is a journey through the mind of a young un-loved girl as she attempts to get through life daily. Thirteen year old Deanna Lambert was caught by her father in the back of Tommy Webber's Buick , parked next to the old Chart House down in Montara at eleven o'clock on a Tuesday night. Tommy was a seventeen year old friend of her brother, Darren. In a moment, Deanna Lambert's teenage life chaged complely forever. She was struggling to overcome the role of being the "school slut," Deanna tries to escape a life defined by her past. Deanna lives in a old house with mildew on the outside with old Christmas lights hung up with an interesting cast of chartacters: her older brother Darren; her unsociable father
In the story “Girl” we see the author talking about the things that a young girl should do and learn so that she can be accepted by society. She starts by saying the in beginning that washing cloths is only a task for women, starting on Monday “Wash the white cloths on Monday”. Then goes on to talk about doing more chores on Tuesday that should only be done by a woman. I believe that the gender of this story is of a mother talking and teaching to her young daughter. With some of the wording I can assume that this is surely an African American or Caribbean mother. Kincaid is trying to show us how differently young boys are treated than the same aged girls and how they are looked at differently for doing the same activities. It is not lady-like
Gabi A Girl in Pieces by Isabel Quintero proves that just because life can be hard, that it can be painful, that it can be full of problems; teens should never stop following their dreams. Cindy, although having a baby was still able to graduate. Sebastian, who was rejected for being gay by his family found someone who loved him for him and supported him. Gabi came to realize that no matter what she looked like, she was still beautiful. Young adult novels may be sometimes harsh and have strong context, but they teach a lesson to those in need of help and serve as a purpose to relate to their readers. It teaches teenagers who are just looking for a meaning in life. Like Sherman Alexie said, “I write books to give teenagers weapons-in form of words and ideas- that will help them fight their monster.” Teenagers will always find troubles in life, no matter who they maybe, but there will always be a path of light leading
In today's world, and society, being different, in anyway is usually frowned upon by peers, especially in high school; however, breaking the mold is exactly what the book, Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli is about. Between the structure of the plot, the setting, and the characters, from the first page of the story, Stargirl sets the perfect example of living the high school life as an nonconforming person, as she reaches out to our main protagonist, Leo Borlock, after he writes an article about his favorite animal and includes it in his mother's birthday message. This light hearted, but realistic fiction gives sight to those entering, in, or alumni to high school, what a nonconforming high school career can do.
I am Zana Wilson, a soon to be resident of one of your two bedroom apartments. I originally signed for a three bedroom apartment but transferred to a two bedroom apartment because I was granted a $1000 gift card to go towards my rent. I was curious as to whether I could ask for the $1000 to be spread out evenly across the twelve months instead of it all being used at once? Please get back to me as soon as possible!
Personal freedom is freedom of the person in going and coming, equality before the courts, security of private property, freedom of opinion and its expression, and freedom of conscience subject to the rights of others and of the public. Some examples of personal freedom are us being able you follow any religion we want. Another example would be us being able to speak our mind and wear whatever we want. In the other hand we have non personal freedom where we can find good examples of it in the book called “The Diary OF A YOUNG GIRL”.
“Girl” by Jamaica Kincaid is a story where it is portrayed from a feminist point of view, which is an important. This brings an importance to the reader because they should fully understand what a feminist perspective entails. The “Girls” consists of advice from a mother to her daughter. It is the mother’s plan to develop a bright path for her daughter and rebuke her at the same time. She had used the words of wisdom, but sort of repeated herself, especially to warn her daughter about not becoming a “slut”. The author wrote, “On Sundays try to walk like a lady and not like a slut you are so bent on becoming” (Kincaid, 320). Besides these repetitions, the story does not move forward in a chronological fashion. There is not a beginning, middle,
The story immediately starts off with the mother telling her daughter what she is expected to do. All of these things that are explained are said to send out the message that the mother is creating a lady, developing a house wife, and a strong, independent woman. Kincaid’s thesis in the story “Girl” is very clear because the intentions she has are expressed through the dialogue between the mother and daughter. The theme of the story does not change much throughout the story.
Mama’s Girl is a non-fiction novel of an African-American female, Veronica Chambers. The book traces her troubled life from puerility to adulthood. The novel provides a vivid description of the distant relationship of Veronica’s mother, the cruel stepmother, and the neglectful, abusive relationship of her father. I enjoyed reading the book, considering its depiction of a young girl’s endurance, resilience and strength. With all odds against her, Chambers overcome the odds from poverty to upper middle class through hard work and determination to be the best she could be.

This book is about a girl named Haven that is experiencing a lot of changes in her life but the climax is when Sumner Lee (her sister's ex-boyfriend) shows up in town because she thinks she can get things back to the way they were. While this book is great, it had positives that unfortunately couldn't outweigh the negatives. It was an endearing coming of age story, dealing with a girl learning to accept herself for who she is but the slight lack
Lauren always wanted to do something entirely different and tried not to fit in with the others, and believed that it was better when you stood out. All her life she had one passion; art. The expression of a human creative skill and imagination created into a visual form. Art was something that she fell deeply in love with. Lauren believed that drawing was a powerful aid and a way to communicate her thoughts to the outside world.

The Diary of a Young Girl is an interesting read. Sad when you realize a young girl’s life was taken away in such a horrible and selfish manner. Hopeful and optimistic is often the tone of Ann’s writing. Anne probably never imagined her diary would be made public and read the world over. I am not sure she would have written so openly and honestly if she had thought that would be the case. This book allows the reader to see through the eyes of a teenager the outward experience of war and the inward degradation of the human spirit of eight humans confined in fear and constant isolation.
