Sayyid Qutb was an Egyptian man who was born back in 1906, and lived in a small village called Mush in Egypt (“Is this the man,” 2001). When it came time for Qutb to go to school, he attended Dar al-’Ulum, which was a secondary college (“Is this the man,” 2001). He then obtained a job as a school inspector working for the Egyptian ministry of education (“Is this the man,” 2001). This was a man of many professions and influenced lives of the people. He was not someone find a profession and stick with a particular career for his entire life. He was a dedicated man who made it his mission to get his message out to the public. Qutb was very involved with the Muslim religion, and is most often referred to as “the father of modern Islamist fundamentalism” (“Is this the man,” 2001, n.p.). …show more content…
He did not like how the United States functioned in terms of racism toward the Arabs and the amount of freedom women have (“Is this the man,” 2001). His trip to the U.S. made his realize he wanted to be loyal to the Islam and that was it. Once he returned home to Egypt about two years later, he decided to become a part of the group called the Muslim Brotherhood (“Is this the man,” 2001). Unfortunately, once he joined the Muslim Brotherhood, he and the rest of the members were arrested and placed in prison more than once, where he was eventually murdered (“Is this the man,”
Altogether Nizam-al-Mulk made the greatest single involvement to education in founding and extending an almost universal system of schools (madrasahs) throughout Eastern Islam. He was one of the most learned men of his time, greatly versed in Muslim tradition and one of the great political theorists of Islam. The schools he created all over the

“Everything I was dreaming of is gone.” Those are the words of Abdullah Kurdi, whose wife and two children drowned after the small boat that was supposed to take them from Turkey to the Greek island of Kos had capsized. Abdullah Kurdi was ultimately trying to get his family to a better life in Canada when it all went wrong and he lost everything. Since Alan Kurdi’s little body washed up on a Turkish beach on September 3, his photos have taken the world by storm.
He found that the bond held between the civilians of the U.S. was equivalent to fellowship found in the Islamic religion, but the bond between the Muslim Brotherhood was something that was more meaningful to him because of his devotion to his religion. The Muslim Brotherhood is an Islamic organization that’s goal is to “build the Muslim individual.” (http://www.ummah.org.uk/ikhwan/) In order to do this they reject any other religious affiliations that do not focus on the Quran or Sunna (http://www.ummah.org.uk/ikhwan/). Because of his connection with the Muslim Brotherhood, many went on to categorize him as an “Islamist.” “An ‘Islamist’ is one who views Islam as the total way of life and desires to have Islamic law implemented in every aspect of life.” (http://www.nwe.ufl.edu/~jdouglas/F02finalart9.pdf)
He then converted to traditional Islam, changing his name again. The name he chose was El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz. He returned to the United States, but this time he wasn’t as angry and was actually focusing on a more peaceful resolution to the race issues that were going on instead of being violent and fighting for freedom in a more peaceful way. But, tragically just when it seemed like he was trying to take a better approach to change the course of the Civil Rights Movement, he was assassinated.
After this he became a minister for the Nation of Islam and an advocate for not "Civil Rights" but Human rights, and through his oratory skills and his fiery rhetoric he was able to relay his message about black nationalism.
He became the leader of the organization the Taliban. The Taliban was rooted in a strict version of Islamic Law that basically made the guidelines for being what the Taliban interpreted as a “good Muslim” enforced by the law. Things that were options, such as men growing beards and attending religious services regularly and women not working outside of the home were responsibilities the new regime endowed on the people. In the Taliban’s quest to impose Islamic law, they attracted Osama Bin Laden and Al-Qaida to the cause.

This was hard for Mohammed as he was very close to his mother. However, she was very supportive of his decision. This was Mohammed’s first time out of his country. Mohammed liked that Egypt had a government. In Somalia, there was much unrest since the collapse of their government when the Civil War started in the early 1990’s. Mohammed thought Egypt was beautiful, busy, and more modern than where he came from. There were many more buildings, and even more historic places he liked. He felt the police respected foreigners and he felt welcomed there. While he was in the orphanage he learned Arabic, which enabled him to communicate easily in Egypt. The only thing he did not like was the food. It was in Egypt that he was exposed to the internet and cable. He loved to watch CNN and loved anything to do with politics. He became very interested in the United States. He thought the United States was clean and that there were no homeless people. He also thought that everyone had money, a car, and a

He listened and followed Mr. Muhammed’s teachings, as well as seeking out ways to inform others about him and bring them in to become part of the Nation of Islam’s movement. This showed great leadership, he communicated effectively to the many followers who listened. He empowered so many to follow along and join to learn and reform themselves to become leaders as well. After some years of bringing in many followers, some unforeseen events took place and thus questioned whether or not Mr. Muhammad’s teaching was leading him and others on the right
