Scholars Program Goal

As mentioned above, the main function of Valley Scholars is its programming geared toward college preparatory and academic success for students involved in the program. Due to the nature of the program, different aspects of the program rely on community efforts. More specifically, there are many community partners and sponsors that contribute to the success of the program.

Lastly, I have a desire to have a career as a software developer after I have completed my studies. This will ensure that I have learnt new possessions continuously and become aware of the updated technologies. After completing my degree, I would be provided the perfect platform to help me to excel in my career. Computer Science provides with self-assessments which allows the learner with options to work intellectually, therefore a course such as this, would be excellent.

Question 1:Several students will be selected this year to receive scholarship benefits and support. Why should you be one of these students?Include some accomplishments, awards you have received, and goals you are working towards.

The Prairie Meadows scholarship will help me pursue my career path because this scholarship lets you pick the specific school that you would like to go to. That is what initially drew me in and what made me want this scholarship. I know what career path that I want to start out in is a vet tech, however I don't know what scholarship offers that option, so I chose this one. My first couple of years, I will go to DMACC so that I can truly understand what I am going to be doing in my line of work, and decide once and for all what I am going to do in life. I am interested in participating in the Bridge Scholars program because I will gain experience, as I want be to prepare me for the fall semester by taking these college level classes. Also, this program will provide me with financial aid because I have not been able to work due to my current education and extracurricular activities. I will gain long lasting friendships and will be able to grow and learn from myself with all the activities we will do. As I am a intervent person this will be an immense opportunity to open up and interact with the other scholars. Specifically, I am drawn to the First Year Academic Advisor Program because I believe that it will be useful in providing guidance for finding my passion while helping me build meaningful relationships. Additionally, the First Year Seminar Program interests me because it focuses on developing a strong academic foundation. Providing a platform to pursue an education allowing me to think differently and think critically. I believe this foundation will become a tool I can rely on throughout a lifetime of learning and achievement. The programs encourage students to not only study in their area of interest, but also explore other subjects. This allows the student to bring a diverse perspective to any debate or discussion. Something I believe will be very important in life after Dickinson.

What effect has the Emerging Scholars program have on me? Before being accepted into the Emerging Scholars program, or even applying to attend this program, I was a lost 16-year-old in high school just going with the flow of things. I did not know what I wanted to do in life or where I would go to college to pursue the career I would choose. When my guidance counselor told me about this program and how it would help me make those decisions, I immediately jump to the opportunity to sign up being that it was only a limited number of spots. When the time came to come to Clemson my first year I was nervous, because I was going with a bus load of people I barely knew. I am not a people person, so I was never good at introducing myself to others.

In the past few months I have grown quite interested in attending MSU after high school graduation and I believe this program is a great way to learn about both MSU and the college experience. I never have been able to go on a college trip so I want to be able to take full advantage of this amazing opportunity. The Summer High School Scholar Program is the best way to learn as much as I can about the college of my dreams.
