Prairie Meadows Essay Anthony Robbins once said “Life is a gift, and it offers us the privilege, opportunity, and responsibility to give something back by becoming more”. Winning the scholarship money will help me pursue my education in Physical Therapy. I would be able to give back to the community and use my specialized skill set to change people's lives. I recently have been in Physical Therapy for an injury that occurred and the work they do is absolutely stunning. Someday I want to be a part of that opportunity to change people's lives. Going through Physical Therapy as a senior in high school completely changed my mindset. I had no idea that one day I would want to become a PT. Ever since the day I started my PT training I knew that
I hope to become an occupational therapist after I finish college. I always knew that I wanted to do something with people that involved helping them. I hope to provide support for those who believe that the things they used to do are now impossible. I want to be the person who helps them see that those things are possible, and they just need some help getting there. I also want to be the type of therapist who lets their patients know that whenever they need help I will be there to assist them. People feel hopeless if they are not able to do the things they always could, but I want to take that feeling and make it blossom into the wonderful feeling that hope can bring. People deserve to be happy in their bodies, and they should not feel ashamed
Not only to prescribe medicine, and help with a cure, but to uplift them with love and compassion. I would like to walk into work everyday with an infectious smile, and brighten their day. I whole-heartedly believe that helping others makes the world a better place. And becoming a physician assistant would allow me to little by little help people and actually make a difference. Attending __________ would give me the necessary tools of knowledge to embark on my journey of life. This summer I had the privilege of volunteering at a physical therapy office and I can honestly say that it has made me want to enter the health care field. I made real relationships with patients; one older lady who attended physical therapy was named Maria. Maria opened up to me about her sister with ALS while doing her exercises for therapy. She told me that she doesn’t talk about her sister much and that she’s grateful she has me to talk to. With tears in her eyes and her hands in mine she told me her life story, how her sister struggled through life, she told me the ups the downs and everything in between. After the physical therapy was over she gave me a huge hug and walked out the
I have been able to see the joy on a child’s face when they finally make a shot, the joy on their face when they learn how and when to cross the street, and the joy on their face when they realize that they have the potential to be anything they want to be in life. Being able to watch this all happen has allowed me to realize that I want to see these kinds of amazing reactions every day for the rest of my life. On top of this, I want to be the one to allow them to have this reaction. To me, it is the best feeling in the world when I know that I have helped someone do something they felt they couldn’t do before. This being said, my volunteer work has persuaded me into the direction of the medical field. I feel this has happened because the medical field gives me an enormous variety of ways to impact lives

I hope to one day alter the lives of people around the world by pursuing an MD/MPH. However, that path was not always clear. My first exposure started in high school where I was a part of the Littleton Health Science Program which would equip me with
I would like to become a pediatric occupational therapist and work in a school helping children with their writing skills or in a pediatric outpatient center. I knew that I had a passion for working with children when I volunteered at a camp during my freshman year of high school that taught kids with disabilities how to ride a two-wheel bike. Being able to see the progress that the kids made during the camp and how excited they were when they could finally ride a bike independently was both inspiring and rewarding. I think that it is hard for people to realize that the things they do every single day without a thought, such as brushing their teeth or feeding themselves, are a challenge for others. I want to help those who face these challenges become more independent and have an increased quality of life, and I know that by becoming an occupational therapist I can do just
The medical field is expanding ever so rapidly in today’s society. In the field of Physical Therapy one needs to have the understanding of how the human body works and the injuries one body could sustain. I have chosen a career to help others to battle back from life-changing injuries or surgeries. I will take the first step of joining the medical field by obtaining a physical therapist associates degree. I will become a Physical Therapist Assistant.
This fall I plan to follow in my parents’ footsteps and attend Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. I have been admitted to the Honors College and my goal is to major in Biomedical Sciences and minor in Spanish. If awarded this scholarship, I would use the money towards continuing my education in order to become a Physical Therapist after graduate school. I chose Physical Therapy as my career path because it combines everything I have looked for in a career, such as allowing me to stay active, be involved with patients, and be a benefit to my community. I decided to study a kinesiology field because I can spend my life working for the good of others and helping them function without pain.
After high school, I’d wish to pursue a degree as a physical therapist assistant. Ever since I was younger I always knew that I wanted to become a PTA or else an athletic trainer. Sports introduced me to physical therapy and physical therapy assistants. I’ve played sports ever since I was a little girl. I also got injured many times playing sports which led my to go to physical therapy. I’ve always thought that the body was so fascinating and always want to learn more about it. I participate in Health Occupations where I am able to actually go shadow a physical therapist and see what they do.
I am incredibly lucky to have been fortunate enough to say that I worked hands on with a Physical Therapist over this past summer. It was an experience I will never forget and one that I will treasure forever.
Physical therapists are members of a health care team, specially trained to improve movement and flinction, relieve pain, and expand movement potential. Through evaluation and individualized treatment programs, physical therapists can both treat existing problems and provide preventive health care for people with a variety of needs (Physical Therapy-Improving 1). Physical therapists are very knowledgeable and skillful concerning the human body. Physical therapy is a complex, but rewarding field to pursue as a career. Specialization, working conditions, job outlook, salaries, and education requirements need to be taken into consideration when contemplating a career as a physical therapist.
The human experience is not a vague suggestion of what everyone strives for. This is a very individualized set of preferences and priorities that each person desires in life. We are all unique beings and as a physical therapist, there is a duty to create a specific strategy of care that is centered on the needs of the consumer. Movement is the basis of everything we do. Optimizing movement by improving mobility and motion, managing pain, and regaining original capabilities will guide society to a healthier and more active lifestyle.
hospital. When they arrived, they walked to the waiting area, but Marie and Aunt Lori wasn’t out there, so they went up to the nurses station, the nurse told them that they were in Angelicas room. David and Simone went to Angelicas room, walked in, Simone said, “Hey, everybody.” “We have some good news.” said Marie. “Let me tell them.” said Angelica. “Ok, what’s going on?” ask Simone. “I’m going home today.” said Angelica. “Really, it’s not too early?” ask Simone. “No, the Doctor said she’s doing fine, much better, she just has to continue taking her medicine and start physical therapy treatments, we’ve already set it up and someone will come out to the house, so we don’t have to worry about bringing her up here everyday.” “That’s good Angelica.”
Every year we have worldwide athletics competitions, those events are televised and people from all over the world are able to see them. Think of the last championship that you saw, how many of those athletes were harmed during that match? How often do you see sports people getting an injury? It does not matter the discipline, they all have a very high potential of getting harmed.
On September 8th, 2015, I first began interning for Dr. Dawn Cox and her staff of experienced Physical Therapists at PRANA Functional Manual Therapy in Lancaster, PA as a Physical Therapy Aide. Intermittently, on the first day of my internship, I would ask the therapists “Why choose Physical Therapy as a profession?” One of the Physical Therapists conveyed that aside from the substantial benefits a job provides, it was the intangible materials that gave the profession a meaning. As a student exploring the field of Physical Therapy, I have infallibly witnessed professionalism at PRANA and other Physical Therapy facilities through the therapists’ altruism towards patients -without violating ethical practices as professionals; their apposite use of communication with each individual at the workplace; and their sense of accountability when things go unforeseen.
