This study strongly supports the original hypothesis that there is a correlation between school performance and schizophrenia and psychosis. It was found that students, at the age of 16, who did not perform well in school were at a greater risk of having a psychotic episode and being diagnosed. School performance is not only a judge of a person’s intelligence, but also an indicator if that person is at a higher risk of being diagnosed with schizophrenia and psychosis when they are older.
