On May 25 at the Noblesville school in Indiana, there was a school shooting,which is the twenty third gun related incident that has happened on school grounds in 2018. A male student open fired in a seventh grade classroom just after 9AM injuring another student and a teacher. The student was a thirteen year old girl named Ella Whistler and she is said to be in critical condition but she is stable. The teacher was twenty nine year old Jason Seaman.He was released from the hospital this past Saturday. CAM 1 Sports is up next. Serena Williams is out of the French open with an injury. After one week at the French Open Serena Williams stopped short on Monday. This was because of an injury to her right pectoral muscle which made her withdraw shortly before her fourth round match against Maria Sharapova. Multiple celebrities and business organizations were also giving the newlywed gifts as well. The packages will not stop arriving at their Kingston Palace house and they are insisting on sending everything back. They Could Just want to be nice,but it is also royal protocol to return the gifts. One of the worst school shootings in American history. First, in the morning Adam lanza killed his mother and then goes to the Sandy Hook school with 3 guns. Adam walked in and killed 20 kids and six adults. He then killed himself. Because of the light security, Adam lanza went in the school and then he was able to do whatever he wanted to. Because the school had low security, the shooter walked right into the school and killed lots of people.

Born on November 9th, 1970, Lisa Vanderbeck grew up in a very close knit neighborhood, always doing things with her neighbors, whether they were thirty years older than her, or ten years younger. One person who she was extremely close to was a friend of her moms, Mrs. Louis, who lived five doors down from her. Lisa, her mom, and twin sister would go over to her house at least once a week for “Avon Lady Day”. They would drink coffee, and hang out with the other neighbors who attended.

Nobody knows the real reasoning behind this act of terrorism. Many people believe that the boys did it due to lack of attention, while others believe the boys did it because they played violent video games. The birds played beautiful music while small beams of sun slowly escaped from behind the clouds and through the kitchen windows of all the houses. Classes were starting at seven-thirty just like any other day, however at eleven- twenty a bloody massacre began at Columbine High School. “ There was a girl crouched beneath a desk in the library, and the guy came over and said, ‘Peekaboo,’ and shot her in the neck,” said Kirkland, a 15-year-old sophomore. Two seniors who belonged to a group called the Trench Coat Mafia, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, entered the school with guns, knives, and bombs hidden beneath their trench coats and started opening fire on their classmates and teachers.
On April 19, 1999 at approximately 11:19am in Littleton Colorado Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris, 17 and 18 years old, went to Columbine High School to shoot students and staff. Despite the attempts, many people in the world reject it, thereby, committing crimes. In the past, some crimes were not regarded as significant problems unlike, how they are perceived in this day-and-age. An example of this would be taking weapons on board an aircraft. In the past, it was still illegal to bring weapons on your flight, yet, people were not as anal about it. These shootings are a serious concern and have parents constantly concerned about their child’s safety when they are at school and also have students thinking twice about any unusual or suspicious behavior. The media appears to play a large part in school shootings and it is important to analyze the deviant behaviors of the shooters in these horrific instances and the fear they create in schools. Does the media play a large part in school shootings or does the media play a large part in the sensationalism of school shootings and the fear they create both in schools and with parents?

Coverage of these events depicts walking on a college campus to that of walking in Fallujah. These news stories lead one to believe that it is not safe to be on a college campus. School shootings, like Sandy Hook and Columbine, have started to become an ordinary event seen on the news, which causes a numb reaction in the hearts of countless Americans. According to an article written by AJ Willingham and Saeed Ahmed, from CNN, “...30 deadliest shootings in the United States dating back to 1949, 18 have occurred in the last 10 years.” In all of these cases, the news will give the attacker the attention they so dearly crave and always giving the same justification “they were mentally ill”. This one phrase reflects on all of those who also are affected by mental illness, does this make them corrupt like these terrorists?
Research in school shootings have been administered in many categories, including sociology, psychology, and etc. past studies, and direct later studies in school shootings, offers a sociology stand point for understanding the differences of school shooting incidents, including rampage shootings, mass murders shootings, and examining the mass media dynamic of school shootings; as well as presenting a combination of causes said in the research, including those on the individual, community, and social levels. Suggestions for studies in the future in school shootings are still yet to be explored.
In the United States mass shootings has been a problem for the last few years especially school shootings which occurs often in the country. Why in this country? Well statistics shows that the United States has 31% of all public mass shootings from 1966 to 2012. Although, the percentage has gone up for the last five years. There is a higher risk of dying at school than at any public places. She addresses the Sandy Hook incident in Newtown, Connecticut to relate it to her situation and how she fears her son might lead to murderous attack like the Sandy Hook shooting. Many of the causes that lead to school shootings are; lack of gun control, mental health & bullying, and definitely lack of protection at schools.
