America spends around 1 billion dollars on school uniforms each year, J.C. Penney says school uniforms are, “a huge important business for us” (Ellison). Who really benefits from school uniforms ? School uniforms limit a lot of things, and it's not the student's choice to choose if they wear them or not. The board of education can choose whether or not they find it appropriate for a School to require a School Uniform. Schools should not require a mandatory uniform. School uniforms do not stop bullying. Caroline Doyle was a middle school student who spent 8 years in private schools, and she says there is no decrease in bullying with or without uniforms (Doyle). “Uniforms don’t make everyone the same, They just make everyone look the same, There’s a difference, and not everyone realizes it. I have been victim of, and witness to, different degrees of bullying when I was in a school uniform, and it’s just as bad as at a public school with free dress. I know public schooled kids who have been bullied to the same level of intensity as in a uniform private school”(Doyle).
