Silverwater doesn 't have any public primary or secondary schools, so the children of the area attend in the nearby suburbs like Auburn. However, Silverwater does have three specialty schools.
After a considerably large renovation, the coal mine now has the Rahall Company Store, visitor center, a coal museum, a fudgery, and gift shop. Many features include mining artifacts and tools, photographs, and various artifacts from the coal town of southern West Virginia. The main attraction of the Exhibition Coal Mine is a tour that takes visitors 1500 underground. The tour shows visitors the history of coal mining from the early hand-loading days to modern-day mining. Visitors can also take a tour throughout the coal camp. Here they can explore the Coal Company House, Superintendent's Home, Pemberton Coal Camp Church, and the Helen Coal Camp School. There was the Putnam Free School, The Female School, and The Brown High School. But in 1843 they merged and became the Consolidated High and Putnam School but in 1889 the name was changed to Newburyport High School.

P.S. 69 and the rating of the school is an A grading. Most of the teachers in the school have a post- secondary school meaning most of the teacher's education is higher than a high school diploma. I say this because I asked my observation teacher and every teacher has at least their bachelors. There is one library in the neighborhood and it is called the Sunset Park Library. This library is open everyday except Sundays. They open from 10 a.m. To 8 p.m.
Preschool classroom’s fosters an exploratory play environment for children ages four to five to prepare students for private school kindergarten courses and utilizes North Carolina kindergarten standards to develop curriculum. Cumberland County public school system does not have the best reputation for educating students and has created a need for more private schools.
