This course has been an eye-opening experience in more than one way. My favorite part of Science 1123.02 was the set-up of the class. I loved that our class was able to learn a little bit about everything. Instead of digger deep into a few subjects, we were able to expand our knowledge on multiple subjects. I believe being well rounded helped develop myself as a teacher. I am now comfortable with multiple subjects. Throughout Science 1123.02 I was able to expand my knowledge of various subjects such as the cell, mitosis and meiosis, plants, animals, human organ systems, and hormones.
While all of these subjects were informational and beneficial to my knowledge, I found the cancer section to benefit me the most. I recently lost my grandfather
During the first semester of English 1301, I have learned so much that before I hadn’t comprehended. This class has teached me to write what is my passion and explain my thoughts thoroughly. The classes I took before were mostly teaching the arts of writing essays in which the not much was learned. This class made an exception for me to challenge myself and try to succeed in becoming a better writer. I feel as I have learned more in these 16 weeks than have in the last two years of highschool english.
The NL310 course has thus far presented me with a variety of topics, but the discussion about cognitive biases have resonated with me the most. I believe it has made a profound impact on me because I did not realize before how vulnerable I was to biases such as framing, confirmation trap, and the anchoring effect. Of these three biases, I think confirmation trap has the biggest influence on me. I sometimes find that when working with other mids, I look for information to confirm what I believe about them, usually regarding negative things . This has gotten me into situations in which I find it hard to sometimes find the good in people although I know it exists.
Three goals that I have accomplish while being in ENGWR50. Being able to analyze assignments, and being able to address them. I have learned these lessons with the reading "Fixed Vs Growth Mindsets" and the FWA1 and FWA2. The workshops has also help me to understand how to revise an essay as well as understanding how to distinguish between facts in opinions. reading the articles " True Grit" and, " 100% Is Over Rated", writting the summaries on these articles has taught me how to analyze reading while being able to create strategies for addressing them. this class has help me to become a better writer. it has prepared me for ENGWR101 now I know what is expected of me when writing a college paper. This course will follow me to my next class
I liked everything about this course. The seminars, study plans, and the weekly discussions help
When I signed up for LIS 6080, I honestly thought I was not going to learn much because I use computers a lot. I was wrong. I found that this course, with the textbook, discussions with fellow classmates, and the Professor, I learned a lot that I can build upon and use as an information professional. Libraries are becoming leaders in new technologies as they integrate new web and mobile technologies for its users. With these new technologies, information professionals will need to understand these technologies, to provide assistance for these technologies, and to be prepared to interact with patrons using these technologies. LIS 6080 is the course that has set the foundation for my future career as an information professional. This course
In the wake of assessing the course in my degree plan, I realized that there are a variety of courses that will bolster me towards my degree goal. After assessing the course, 5 specifically got my attention and now I am more eager to learn more about these topics. I feel the courses below will contribute significantly in my Career. In total there are 180 credit needs for my degree in health science.
I’m writing for a request of a reconsideration of my final grade (EDU 600 Professor Dresser). The last couple of months have been extremely difficult on my personal life. On April 20th my husband passed away and the week before graduation my farther fell ill. He suffered with violent seizures; I slept in the hospital (in a chair next to his bed) the week prior to graduation, only to leave to attend the ceremony. Four months to the day of my husbands passing my father passed but not without complications (Two intubation, tracheostomy and peg feeding tube). As his health care proxy I was left to make extremely hard decisions for his life.
As a Napa Valley College student, I’ve successfully taken several business-related courses in accounting, economics, business law, public speaking, and computer systems that are similar to courses I will be taking at the University of California. Despite rigorous course loads (16 units on average), I’ve found success in my courses using resources such as “Google Calendar” to help me time manage, forming study groups with classmates, and forming connections with instructors whom I’ve received academic support from. In addition, by experiencing success in my courses and grasping the concepts taught, I began using my knowledge to serve other students by volunteering to tutor in math, accounting and economics courses. By doing so, I’ve strengthened my understanding of the different concepts in those subjects and have successfully retained the information by reviewing it with others. Furthermore, I’ve taken
In the beginning, I felt as this English course was just another typical course with the purpose of allowing students to write more essays without the use of creativity and acuity. However, as I ventured deep into the course, I found my original opinion to be biased. Throughout my spiritual journey in ENGL 1304, I not only learned many concepts and new ideas along the way, but I was also able to connect with all my readings. From researching my online sources to constructing a coherent argument, I grasp the process of communicating my voice for each assignment through careful observation and visualization. As a result, I was able to write my essays in a more personal manner. It also led me to stray away from the concept of “just writing anything
This course was easily relatable to my AP bio course I took my senior year of high school, and my biology lab that I took this fall semester my freshman year. The lab and the lecture went hand in hand which helped me academically learn more. I noticed that by taking these two courses together it helps me learn more and better understand the material that I need to study/ know. All my knowledge of this course I mainly learned my senior year of high school through AP biology, although this course really emphasized my essential understanding of the course and went into more depth of the criteria that I needed to better know. I have acquired new ways of seeing, being, and thinking of this course because of the way it’s gone about. By being in this
I’ve learned a lot of useful tips from this semester in ENG 201. English has never been my strong suit nor has it been my favorite class. However this college course has changed my point of view of the subject. Prior coming into college I viewed English as a useless class because I’ve already knew the basics: how to talk, read and write essays. Today I view English as an important class. It helped me in other courses that involved writing, such as World Civilization and Communications, because it allowed me to practice my skills. In my world civilization exams I had to write essays. This course helped me write an impactful essay. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that almost all of my exam scores were in the 90s, usually I do poorly in the
Throughout this course, we have covered a lot of interesting information, and my main takeaway is that I got everything I was looking for when I registered to take this course. This course was recommended to me by a friend that had taken it last year, she described it as an interesting interdisciplinary seminar with a good professor, and I was not let down. I have always had a strong prior interest in learning about the origin of life and more specifically the origin and evolution of the human species, and every single day we had class I learned something new about those topics. If there were to be one main thing that I takeaway when I look back at this course in ten years, it would be that you are honestly one of the most passionate teachers I have ever had for a course.
Throughout this course, we have been asked "What is humanities"? Humanities is the study of human beings by culture, the arts including theater, dance, and music. Within the humanities there are different eras that are represented such as the information age. The Information Age is a time period in our history where the traditional industry shifted to the Industrial Revolution. The Information Age is a great example of how progressively advanced a country can be in with-in a time period. This advancement in the Information Age has a discrepancy; such as the commencement of technology and the definition of digital, new methods of interaction between different people and devices. The physical component of the Information Age is a very important
I personally learned more than I imagined in this evolution course. Learning biological evolution began to expand my understanding of our world and how it all started dating back to thousands of years ago. I learned that natural selection accounts for the rise in pesticide resistance among pests and gives rise to new technologies to protect crops from insects and diseases. Scientists today are applying lessons from evolutionary biology to our world. I was also able to learn many ways that scientists gather and analyze information, test hypotheses, and ultimately come to a consensus about explanations for certain events that have happened on our planet. To understand evolution is essential because not only is it important to learn evolutionary patterns of certain organisms but it is fun to learn as well. I was able to understand relatedness among different organisms and how they are related by descents from common ancestors. The class taught me that evolution explains the great diversity of modern species. The evolution of species and how they emerged from evolving from a common ancestor was personally a good topic for me. I think its fascinating to think species can originate from one ancestor and
In the school year of 2014-2015, the science class that I had taken was Honors IPS. My original teacher was Mrs. McCartney, however towards the end of the year she had a baby so our substitute was Mr. Gero. I signed up for Honors Biology because I wanted to take something more challenging for my mind, and also because I wanted to aim higher than just the standard class. Something that I excel at is art, more specifically drawing people. Art is my passion and I have been drawing people since I was a child. During the school year, the things that take up the majority of my time are schoolwork and extracurricular activities. Extracurricular activities include music lessons for piano and violin, and hip hop. In the class, I can take on a passive
