The 2 passages I am going to talk about are learning to control your moods and science of moods. The authers of the passages are Jennifer James, and Terrence M. Hollan. Learning to control your moods talks about how you can use your senses to help with your bad moods./ you can also listen to music and it will help with a sad angry or even a bad mood. The smell of food or a snack sometimes could get you in a better mood until you sister or brother takes the last pudding and thin that is when you should be in a bad mood. The 2 passage is science of moods ,People can usually tell when they have a mood or if somewon is in a bad mood and or what kind of mood they are in.you can tell by the way they act or the way they talk. It is easy to change
In chapter four of Looking Out/Looking In the author talked about the different aspects of emotions, such as, what emotions are, influences on emotions, how to express emotions, and how to manage difficult emotions.
I notice the technique Building the Mood in this section. The author is building the mood suspense. This is because as you get farther into the book, the events keep building up and causing you to wonder what will happen next. This is demonstrated on page 67. Just as they are finishing with Part 10 and everything seems to be settling down, Margo casually says, “We are going to Sea World”. At this moment, the reader and author are extremely surprised. You want to just stand up and shout, “WHAT?!” because you thought everything was over. But with Margo, it never is. You feel like you want to ask her why she picked breaking into a world-known aquatic park, but Quentin beats you to it. Margo replies by saying, “It is the only theme park I haven’t
This mood found in each chapter can be reflected to the feelings that
Our emotions in many cases affect our perception of events as well as the actions that we take ourselves by permeating our way of thinking, and therefore affecting each thing that we do in that moment. In particular, emotions about the perception of ourselves have been shown to have both the ability to positively and negatively affect our actions and performances in life. This is what can be
Good morning class, the purpose of this mornings lecture is to decipher how authors Julie Kagawa and John Green position their readers in order to have the ability to manipulate and control the emotions felt by the readers.
Our parents raise us hoping for us to develop certain character traits, but there comes to a point when we start to become our own person based on the experiences we go through, any situation, good or bad, can influence our personality mentally and emotionally. Emotion is what makes us human, it's how we cope and how we manage our crazy lives’. When our feelings get damaged or even nourished, it will change how we react
8.) The mood that is created by details of the setting is a depressed, but determined mood. The setting is depressed when the story first starts, when the reader learns the characters are living on a lunar colony and Marvin has never seen "Outside". "When Marvin was ten years old, his father took him through the long, echoing corridors that led up through Administration and Power, until at last they came to the uppermost levels of all and were among the swiftly growing vegetation of the Farmlands. Marvin liked it here: it was fun watching the great, slender plants creeping with almost visible eagerness toward the sunlight as it filtered down through the plastic domes to meet them. The smell of life was everywhere, awakening inexpressible longings
Nivek, presented a normal behavior today, he discussed how he had fun playing outside and was excited he will be able to participate in his school ice-cream party tomorrow. In the activity he expressed his feeling in an approached manner by accepting the fact that he was losing rounds in the game. Modeled appropriate behavior when he displaced competiveness and how he was willing to continue playing until he was able to win the prize that he desired very badly. He showed no signs of anger or frustration but stated how he enjoyed playing the game and wining a prize at the end. Therapist praise Nivek for showing better self- control.
Mood is the feeling the reader gets from reading a piece of literature. If it is properly made it can be felt through the main character or the text. Many literary devices can aid the development of mood in a passage. In “Denn Die Todten Reiten Schnell,” Stroker uses techniques of diction, types of imagery, and elements of narrative stance to create a dominant impression of fear.
The reading on emotions is was a good reminder to “read each other”. Having a conversation with two parties that are able to do this is ideal and leads to quicker resolutions and the ability to be creative in solutions. Sounds so easy, but any times this is not the case as one of the parties in the conversation can’t or don’t read the other emotions. From our perspective, we can help lead the conversations by knowing how we can be involved in bringing awareness to this need. And how we can ensure we are reflecting on what is being said and the feelings that are being brought into the conflict or conversation. Being able to bring a relationship into a difficult conversations, stating why the other persons has an impact and how their decisions and actions, will relate can help in opening up the other party to share in the
While reading Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, the use of the mood organ stood out to me. The characters can control how they want to feel. A person’s mood can determine decisions made throughout their whole life. This could dramatically effect one’s success. For example, a lot of students flunk out of college because they don’t feel like studying, and would rather party. If these students had mood organs and they could set their mood to where they want to study, the outcome of their future might be different.
In the articles “Is a Bad Mood Contagious” and “ On a Sunny Day, You May Get the Rain-Day Blues from Facebook Friends” proves that our mood can be affected by the emotions of others. My mom would always be in a squabble when I get home. After a considerable day at school she would always make me absurd. See even your family can get you in a bad mood.
For example, if you are feeling blue you can play some sad or relaxing music. It will probably make you feel worse but you might feel understood. Some music like Sam smith’s music is very nice or when you’re feeling down in the dumps. Another example totally apart from the last one is when you're feeling happy you can listen to hype music to get you in a better mood something like the song “panda” it really doesn't say anything
I do believe Joan is likely to change her impression of Annette after seeing her act kindly towards another coworker. Joan may conclude that Annette had a bad day before which was why she rude but she is kind and sociable. After Joan sees several friends of hers laughing and joking with Annette, her impression of Annette is likely to change again because she sees her as a threat. Joan feels that Annette is getting too close to her friends and decides she is not the best person. “Mood affects how we perceive others.” (pg.528) When Joan becomes upset about Annette becoming friends with her friends’, it can change her whole perception of things. It is easy for a person to change their impression of someone when they display multiple attitudes
