1.) The topic of globalization is a very broad one. Globalization itself can take on many forms as well as definitions. To begin, globalization has roots within civilization. From a historical perspective, globalization consisted of market-trading and expansion of different crafts and specialties. For example, someone who specialized in textiles and fabric of clothing would possibly trade with someone who cultivated agricultural goods. Through this process, development of a cultural aspect had grown. People were communicating more and exchanging goods or items from all over the world. This diminished the language barrier due to interface that was essential for trade. People were learning new languages and integrating themselves into

Thomas has many questions, but almost none get answered. As Thomas and Chuck are walking, Chuck plays a joke on someone in the bathroom and runs away. The person in the bathroom was Gally and he only sees Thomas. He says that he has seen him before, and because of this joke, Gally hates Thomas more. Later that night, he sees a person running very fast come out each of the four doors and go into a small concrete building in the middle of the Glade and he wants to know what they were doing. Thomas has a strong urge to become a runner, even though he doesn’t know what they do. He also starts to recognize The Glade and thinks he has been there before. The next morning Newt wakes Thomas up and shows him a Greiver, what seems to be a mix of an animal and a machine, through a window, trying to show Thomas why he should stay inside of the Glade. He also explains that there is a maze surrounding The Glade and every second the runners are awake, they are trying to solve it. Later, Alby will take Thomas on a tour
Her name is Teresa. Teresa tells everyone that everything is about to change, then succumbs to a coma. Thomas feels a connection to her, but can’t figure out where he knows her from. Thomas then decides that he wants to be a Runner, Gladers who go out into the Maze in an attempt to map it and find a way out. While exploring the Maze, Alby is stung by a Griever. Minho, the leader of runners, attempts to get him back into the Glade before the walls close but they are not going to make it. Thomas sees them, then races out to help and becomes trapped outside in the Maze with them. The Maze is most dangerous at night because that is when the Grivers are most active. Despite being the most experienced, Minho panics and runs away leaving Thomas and Alby. Through wits and skill, Thomas manages to save himself with alby, and survive the night in the Maze. That made Thomas a hero and from that, Minho convinces the other Gladers to allow Thomas to become a Runner trainee. Thomas then begins training under Minho. He learns how the Runners map the Maze, looking for patterns to the maze every day. Thomas also visits Teresa who is still comatose. She begins to communicate with him telepathically and tells Thomas that she has triggered the end. The next day the sun has disappeared from the sky, replaced with a dull gray sky. Thomas realizes that the Glade is a fabricated place and that the sky was never real. Teresa tells
“Words of Fire,” by Anthony Collings, details the lives of different journalists in regards to free press and covering potentially dangerous stories. Anthony Collings is a former CNN reporter who shifted his focus from reporting to telling the story of journalists who have come under fire in a power struggle between government and free press. Collings puts free press into a spectrum, on one side there is the United States, where the press is largely free, and on the other side there are places like North Korea or China where press is largely restricted by the government. Collings does not focus on these extremes, but rather the places in the middle where there is an ongoing struggle between state power.
In James Dashner’s “The Scorch Trials” friendship, memory and manipulation are important themes. An example of how friendship is an important role is how Thomas, Minho and Newt stay together no matter what they face. Thomas is offered a deal from the Crank’s leader Jorge that in exchange for him taking Minho’s life and a cure for the Flare he will help them reach the Safe Haven. The boys step in immediately and so no to this offer and demand a better deal and Jorge complies. Manipulation from WICKED is driving the boys insane. WICKED is allowing Thomas to see visions of his past in his dreams and they are hard for him to handle. He is only seeing small snippets and they are slowly driving him crazy. As the boys are walking to “Crankville” they

While reading chapters 8-13, I made two predictions. Firstly, I predict that Tony will attempt to part company with his “rescuers”, Denver and Sean. The reason I believe this will happen is partly that Sean made it very clear that he does not enjoy Tony’s company. This might be because this camping adventure was supposed to be a simple and fun camping trip between Sean and his friend. In the chapter, Sean advertised that it would be so much more fun if it were just him and Denver and that he wished that Tony hadn't tagged along and that he was also slowing them down. All of these negative comments could lead Tony to leave and continue the hike on his own. Also, Tony had flashbacks about how he always depended on people to make decisions
Also, she says there might be a cure if he can defeat Dr.X and save the universe. But to do so Cam must break out of the hospital with a dwarf named Gonzo and follow vague signs such as feathers or some type of coincidence. There first stop is New Orleans where they meet none other than Junior Webster who tells enlightening tales and all is great until the fire giants come and the Wizard Of Reckoning. Junior and the Wizard have a trumpet battle and Junior loses and the boys make a close escape. The boys hit the road again and end up in the suburbs with some well…bad influences. On the up side, Cam meets Balder, an immortal viking legend stuck in a garden gnomes body. Cam and Gonzo use Balder to trick a cars salesman to sell them a beat up old caddy which they call Rocinante. The boys hit the road again this time headed for Disney world and on there way they pick up three hitchhikers headed for a spring break party as a disguise to hide from the cops because Cam is wanted for terrorism because he is being framed for blowing up a diner. When they drop the hitchhiker off, they steal Balder so Cam and Gonzo have to put their mission aside to rescue Balder. They rescue Balder but they decide to stay for a surprise concert from the legendary long lost but, not forgotten band The Copenhagen Interpretation. Cam rigs the speakers and it close the wormhole and defeats all the fire giants. But, he still has to find Dr.X and get saved. Then they decide to take a small detour to the ocean to wait for Ringhorn to save Balder and take the curse off his body. But, the United Snowglobe Wholesalers finds them and kills Balder. Also, Dulcie the angel is shot with a gun that turns her into a snowglobe and she is sent to Disney World. Cameron follows the truck that has her in
