Introduction Scottie Pippen, it’s hard to describe a man who for many people believed that he was a mere sidekick to Michael Jordan. By spending most of his career as the secondary option behind Jordan, many people fail to realize that without Pippen the Chicago Bulls potentially wouldn't have achieved a dynasty. Pippen once said: ‘’ Sometimes a player's greatest challenge is coming to grips with his role on the team.’’ He preferred it this way, quietly racking up impressive statistics while giving his teammates the spotlight. The 6-Time NBA Champion and all-leader in steals and assists among forwards, was one of the most versatile players in NBA history. He averaged over 20 points a game alongside with 7 rebounds, yet was continually overlooked due one person, Michael Jordan. As one of a dozen children who grew up in tiny Hamburg, Arkansas. Only getting into college due to a favor his coach called in, as a freshman at tiny University of Central Arkansas, an NAIA school, he was a non scholarship player and received financial aid for being the team manager. To pay for the rest of his education he had to work in the summers as a welder attaching the arms of school desks to the legs, and thus leaving him with scars on his own arms.

From the beginning of his basketball career, Pippen had to fight for his place. Graduating high school at just over 6 feet and 150 pounds, he was originally assigned to be the basketball teams manager; doing trivial tasks such as getting watch, or replacing towels.Yet as he grew older, Pippen began to blossom into an athletic specimen, someone akin to Lebron James as a modern day comparison. His incredible athleticism and massive wing-span gave him the tools to make it to the NBA, selected as the 5th overall pick out of a relatively average NAIA
