The Scout Executive of Southern Missouri presented me with a medal and a badge. The award recognized the accomplishments and requirements that an Eagle Scout fulfills. I accepted the award and took my seat. Once the applaud of my fellow scouts and friends died down, I thanked everybody for coming to recognize my accomplishment of becoming an Eagle Scout. I continued to express my gratitude to all the leaders and parents that made my time as a Boy Scout some of the best times I spent in the outdoors. I reflected over the many campouts I took when I was younger and did not yet possess the skills or the equipment that I have since gained. I concluded my speech by thanking the business that sponsored my final service project.
Throughout To Kill a Mockingbird, Scout is honest. Scout is a tomboy at heart and isn’t afraid to show it, and doesn’t try to be someone else. On her first day of school she explains to her teacher who Walter Cunningham is, even though it gets her in trouble.
“Leadership in Service” are the watchwords of the Vigil Honor, the highest level of membership in the Order of the Arrow, Scouting’s national honor society. Following nomination, a candidate for the Vigil Honor must undergo a solemn and secretive ceremony at a Scout camp in the pine woods of Bastrop, Texas. I, too, have kept the Vigil, and I will never forget it.
Now onto one particular point of the Scout Law. A Scout is Helpful. I believe this is the absolute most important point from the Scout Law. This is because from the very first breath you take as an infant, you will look out for yourself with a self-centered point of view. For it is human nature to preserve oneself. But a Scout has the challenge of putting others first despite his own needs. This is a great representation of the honor that is involved with being a Scout.
Tough Scouts “Scouts Honor” by Avi is a realistic fiction about three boy scouts named Max, Horse, and the narrator. All of these boy scouts struggle with being tough. In the beginning, the narrator decides that he doesn't want to be the same Boy Scout rank anymore. To rank up he needs to go camping which he agrees to and his friends Horse and Max are boy scouts that also want to rank up so they join to. First, Scout demonstrates a vast amount of loyalty throughout the book. Sitting right next to her or relaxing in the next county, Scout defends her friends and family to the best of her ability showing those around her how much she cares for them; even if it means getting into a
One of the first lessons Scout learns is to be tolerant of other people. Walter Cunningham is described as having “looked as if he had been raised on fish food… had no colour in his face… and fingered the straps
When my grandfather earned his Eagle Scout Rank in 1933, he unknowingly began what would become a family tradition that has helped mold my personal perspective today. He ignited a passion for Boy Scouts within my family, which continued through my father, and was fulfilled by me when I earned the Rank of Eagle in 2014. Scouting formed me into the person I am today more so than any other activity I have ever been involved with, reinforcing my family’s emphasis on leadership, service, and work ethic.
A Soldiers’ moral demeanor must reflect beliefs and principles, not just fear of chastisement from each other. Over time, Soldiers adhere to dedication to the oath and the Army values because they want to live virtuously and truly confine in them because they feel it is a reflective of themselves and who they represent. When people believe and practice the Army values, they become

This case deals with the Plaintiff's expulsion from his position as Assistant Scoutmaster in a Boy Scouts of America (henceforth called "BSA") troop due to his status as an active homosexual. Dale, the Plaintiff, was serving as an Assistant Scoutmaster in 1990, when, due to a local newspaper article, it was discovered by officials in the local Monmouth BSA Council that he was an active homosexual. A letter was sent to Dale by the Council, notifying him of their decision to revoke his membership in the organization. Dale sent a letter in response, asking why this action was taken. The Council then notified Dale that his homosexual activities made him ineligible for membership in the BSA, as well as making
Scout can be seen as a product of her environment because she’s not acting like a lady. Scout is a tomboy she likes dressing and acting like a boy, the environment see that as “wrong”. Kids at Scouts school are intimidated by her physical strength, but she has to act “lady like”. Scout's aunt alexandra dislikes almost everything about Scout because she doesn't act “lady like”. Scout’s aunt alexandra is determined to make Scout more lady like, she tells scout to stop wearing breeches or pants “Aunt Alexandra was fanatical on the subject of my attire. I could not possible hope to be a lady if i wore breeches, when i said i could do nothing in a dress, she said i wasn’t supposed to be doing things that required pants” and start wearing dresses. Aunt alexandra wishes that Scout would
As a police officer you put your life on the line every day, you need to be willing to take risks sometimes be put at a disadvantage to protect the lives, defend civil rights and liberties, and they undergo risks and tolerate such inconveniences on behalf of strangers on a daily basis. As a result, police work has become one of the most prideful and selfless occupations in society. Making a difference in the quality of life of others is an opportunity that policing provides, and few other lines of work can offer. The Law Enforcement Oath of Honor as stated by the International Association of Chiefs of Police goes: “On my honor, I will never betray my badge, my integrity, my character, or the public trust. I will always have the courage to hold myself and others accountable for our actions. I will always uphold the constitution, my community, and the agency I serve.” (IACP) Before any officer takes the Law Enforcement Oath of Honor, one of the most important aspects is that they have a clear understanding of what the oath truly means. The oath is a somber pledge an officer makes when they sincerely intend to do what is said. There are nine parts to this oath, but there are three that stand out to me personally, the first being honor. Honor means that one 's word is given as a guarantee to serve and protect to the best of their ability. The second, integrity, acting the same that you would act behind closed doors or in public life. The third, is public trust, which you
Since the very beginning, discrimination has been imminent and abundant. Whether it is telling someone to “man up,” or to “stop acting like a girl,” or making comments about race, it is there. It is the music we listen to, the books we read, the powerful people we listen to- bias, prejudice, it is all there- even in ourselves. To Kill a Mockingbird focuses on discrimination in multiple ways, as does The Help, but a few types of prejudice are imminent- mainly race and gender, even age, discrimination.
Atticus, Jem and Calpurnia. She learned from Atticus by him telling her and asking questions. Like when her and Jem got guns from Atticus. One of the very important lessons she learned was not to kill a mocking bird because mocking birds do nothing except play music for us to enjoy. Scout didn’t just learn from Atticus she learned from Jem to. She learned from Jem by studying him and watching him grow up. One example of whar she learned was when she found a roly-poly and jem told her to put him back because roly-poly’s don’t bother you She learned two very important lessons from jem you shouldn’t fight and you shouldn’t harm anything that doesn’t harm you.
