There is a saying “Birds of a feather, flock together.” This adage holds most true in the context of interpersonal relationships. People (i.e. “Birds”) with similar interests, values, and personalities (i.e. “of a feather”) tend to gravitate towards one another and form relationships (i.e. “flock together”). No more is this importance of similarity evident than in the close friendship between Turk and J.D. on the TV comedy-drama Scrubs. When discussing the topic of similarity one has to invoke several characteristics of similarity that are key to maintaining complementarity. These characteristics include but are not not limited to: Ease of Interaction and Validation/Reassurance. Ease of interaction can be defined as how rewarding and reciprocable one’s interplay with another person is. Validation/Reassurance can be defined as acceptance, acknowledgement, and tolerance of other’s behaviors, ideas, and beliefs. The TV show Scrubs centers around the lives of a set of fictionalized medical students throughout their employment at a teaching hospital. Amongst those many lives are the lives of Dr. John “J.D.” Dorian and Christopher Turk, of whom an intensely close friendship is held. …show more content…
Illustrating this aspect is the “Emotional Level Scene”. In this scene, Turk is approached by JD after Turk’s fiance calls him unemotional with JD, a white male, expressing regret and apologizing to Turk, a black male, for a his comments regarding a racially insensitive poster campaign. Turk reassures JD by telling him that is alright and validating his feelings as a friend by emphasizing the totality of their friendship and racial harmony the two have always

According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary similarity is defined as a quality that makes one person or thing like another. ("Merriam-Webster") Many people tend to believe that diversification is what makes life interesting, this is true; however, humans are genetically inclined to remain with what they are familiar with. Humans are generally creatures of habit, they will continue going to the same coffee shop, order the exact same coffee, every single time they visit: the similar elements bring them comfort. Authors are no different than the average person: they will only write about what they are familiar with. In the Devil and Tom Walker and Rip Van Winkle, we see that the author Washington Irving uses similarities in setting, male protagonists, female antagonists, and mystic characters.
Stereotyping characteristics are associated with our past experiences of the particular group’s characterization and thus, in essence, we would have to have a certain picture of that group’s social behaviors on our minds. Eventually, such characterization leads to the generalization of the entire group’s social and cognitive behaviors that we believe are inbound or depict the true
One of the most impactful instances where individuals from two different races are linked together is in scene five. Viewers could automatically be able to detect the immense racial barriers that were existent between various characters. These racial barriers were evident through the actions of Officer Ryan towards Christine and Cameron. Christine and Cameron are an ideal example of two innocent civilians who were at the wrong place at the wrong time. Officer
Similarities and differences are present between nearly anything. For instance, two books can be compared in regards to their themes. Likewise, multiple people can be contrasted in regards to their personality. Similarities and differences can be good and bad and they can also help one to clearly see which of the subjects that are being compared are better than the other. Another example of where two subjects can be compared is in Macbeth and The Social Network, in regards to the characters. One may wonder how such different pieces of work could possibly be compared and contrasted, but after analyzing both pieces, it is clear that such similarities and differences exist. Characters

Learning more about another individual can be interesting in ways that you didn’t know you had similarities. While I am competitive in a way Waverly could relate to, our family has impacted us in different ways and different styles to get us to this point. Although Waverly and I come from different backgrounds, we both have some similarities, and differences, about problem solving and our personality.
Sameness is basically a rule where the community is limited with certain things such as, clothes, food, color, activities, and making their own decisions. It’s
“I tend to see the similarities in people and not the differences.” In the book Wonder by R.J Palacio and the short story The Girl who was Born with only Two Arms and Two Legs, August, a 10 year old boy with “craniofacial abnormality,” and Quarta a girl with only two arms and legs have many similarities for instance they both are not very social, they have they same feelings and they both are quiet. First of all, August and Quarta are similar because they both are not very social in school. For example in both stories when they went into school they didn’t really fit in, August didn’t fit in because of his “craniofacial abnormality” and Quarta didn’t fit in because of her arms and legs and they both knew that they didn’t fit in which made
The movie “The Doctor” takes an intimate look at the life of a surgeon who is immensely detached from his patients and often acts callously towards his patients and even his family. The arrogance and heartlessness that are seen in the beginning of the movie slowly become subdued when Jack McKee finds out that he has a malignant tumor. The diagnosis of the life-threatening tumor forces Jack to reevaluate his life and in turn allows Jack to see life from the perspective of a patient. The differences in McKee’s character are abundantly evident but one of the best examples of how much he truly changes are how starkly different the opening scene in the surgery suite is as compared to the final scene in the surgery suite. When the movie opens

We all have differences and similarities between one another. Both similarities and differences can have advantages and disadvanteges. I have plenty of similarities with Joe and a little fewer with Simon. I find out that we all tend to own poor self-awareness and lack leadership. Meanwhile, we can undertake pressure. The possible reason for this is that education and culture we take and characters of us are similar. We are all educated mainly in China. Thus, heavy exams and homework entitle us to be able to undertake pressure but do not leave us enough time to know ourselves clearly, and Chinese culture
