Seattle Prep's Theatre Arts Program gives students a wide variety of opportunities in the performance and production of live theatre. Students are involved in all aspects of creating theatre both on stage and behind the scenes as performers, directors, designers, builders and crew-members. They work with theatre professionals who teach them skills while inspiring them to strive for artistic excellence.
Each year we produce three major productions: a Play, Musical and Festival of One Acts Play. Students are selected through an audition process for performing and an interview process for directing or being part of the production crew.

Questions and Answers
Q: Does everyone who auditions get cast?
A: We always try to include as many actors as possible, but due to the popularity of our program, it is not possible to cast everyone who auditions. Consideration will be given to:
Acting ability and unique skills, as assessed by the directing team in auditions, callbacks, and previous productions.
“Fit” for a specific role.
Personal character, professionalism, ability to work as part of a team, and commitment, as demonstrated in involvement with the program at large, in previous productions, and in school.

Many can imagine a show done by a High School may lack in many ways compared to a similar version displayed at another theatre like the REP for example. However, there is always a potential that it could be a very proficient piece of art. Personally before even going to the play I had made up my mind that I would not like it at all since I didn’t like the movie at all and the only reason for me going was to accompany friends.

After about two weeks of playing theater games with the students to motivate them and get them out of their comfort zone it was time to begin our reader’s
Students are from primary school to high school across the Houston area. The Alley's Education and Community Engagement department (ECE) programs' mission, which is advocating the integration of art, training the next generation of drama artists, promote community communication. The Alley could make a partnership with Houston Children's Festival. The Alley orchestrate some fairy tales or small stage plays for children and perform at the festival. The Houston children's festival is a great opportunity to showcase and publicize the Alley's education programs. The Alley's value is to share and impart passion for theatre with audiences, patrons, and the diverse community, and integrate drama into education and community in Houston. This festival also would help the Alley achieve their value. Through the Houston Children's Festival, students have a platform to show off their performance and present what they have learned from the Alley's education program. It is also a good opportunity to use their strength and ability to help abused children find a safe
The mission of the Yale Rep is to promote the students of the Yale of the school of drama to become professional drama players. Thus, my project will have the promotion in the Theater Magazine, WYBC, and IPTV. The Theater Magazine is composed of the Yale school of drama faculty, which is the directly relevant to the Yale Rep. The WYBC and IPTV belong to Yale University, so the show can reach to the other major students through University TV and radio.
Theatre and Musical Theatre has been a form of entertainment since before North America was “discovered”. Broadway shows have been dated back to the early 1920’s and 1930’s. By 2016, over 25,000 tickets are sold to Broadway shows in a week. Thousands of people enjoy the shows that are featured on Broadway but have no idea the work and process that brought it to life. The process of getting a show on to Broadway can be broken down into three phases: pre-production, staging, and performance/promotion.
When selecting shows for our theatre arts program, the goal is to give students an opportunity to discover their creative abilities, inspiring them to strive for artistic excellence. While providing students an outstanding experience of performing live theatre is important, it is the artistic and personal journey these young women and men take that lies in the heart of our program. Theatre allows students to take risks, learn to work collaboratively, and challenge themselves discover both their potential.
Having knowledge and involvement in both the acting and the technical aspects of theater, I expected the production to deliver a qualitative performance that gave its audience the full experience. This experience is achieved by the elements of theater such as acting, lights, sounds, props, costume and set design
During drama activities especially when working with mixed-ability students, one should consider working within an open space and creating a circle. One should start the
I am an actor with a life- long passion for storytelling. I have been enamored with theatre for many years because it is a medium through which I can share stories in the most effective way. Stories have complex ideas and important messages and theatre turns them into memorable pieces. I have found purpose in theatre because it has broadened my understanding of how other people experience life. I learn something new from every play I see, read, and perform in.
Because I'm a student at this college, this is a very important feature. Therefore, the goal of that event is to attract communication arts students to be active members of
While a large part of the theater community consists of actors, there is so much more that goes into putting on a show than just the people performing it. Another sub-community of the larger theater community is the stagehands. This smaller community consists of the people who work the lights and sounds, who design and paint the sets, design the costumes, and stage manage during the actual performance. This also consists of the choreographer, the person or people who blocks the scenes, and the ever important director and producer. Without each and every one of these smaller communities, the larger theater community would not be able to function. All the sub-communities are important to the theater community.
Ever since I can remember, the performing arts had a special place in my heart. I did not know how much it meant to me until I became mature enough to recognize the profound influence the arts had on my life. Thanks to my loving parents, I have had the opportunity to nourish and refine my craft. Now, I would like to continue to refine my abilities over this summer through the Alliance Theatre’s Musical Theater Camp at Oglethorpe University. I feel that this program will enhance my vocal and acting capabilities as I strive to become a “triple threat” in the performing arts. As I began my high school career at Dekalb School of the Arts, I had dabbled in singing and acting, but my primary interest at the time was dancing. However, while becoming
In schools across America, teachers are tirelessly brainstorming ways in which to engage students in the learning process, while at the same time teaching the necessary information that is presented in the Common Core State Standards. Although, there are many strategies that could be used to teach this information, the implementation of drama in the classroom will not only keep students engaged and meet the standards, but will also teach students to think critically, make connections and truly comprehend what they learn in the classroom. By integrating drama into the classroom, teachers give students the opportunity to explore and be creative.
