Securus Caters to Corrections and Law Enforcement Endeavors Popularly known as a technology guru headquartered in Dallas, TX, Seurus Technologies sets out to find out more about what corrections and law enforcement agencies lack the most. After focusing on this particular assignment, the outcome calculates to applying technology in such a manner to safe the industry time while keeping the human facor safe and slightly out of reach. Secrurs decides to move the products along the vertical market. Securus Technologies Moves from Inmate Telecommunication to Diversified, Government Servies Since 2007 Securus Technologies has been consulting agencies to promote their inmate telecommunications outfit. Ideally, both staff and inmate were constantly
Computerized communication within law enforcement has and will continue to improve law enforcement as the technology is implemented and utilized within these agencies. The utilization of such devices as mobile data terminals (MDT’s) has given the average patrol officer access to enormous amounts of information. Even in 1979, Computer and technology were said to “have the potential to aid in criminal justice activities through the rapid communication of accurate and complete information, and perhaps a more rational approach to decision-making” (Colton, 1979. P.19). Now in 2014, the computers and
There are many prison facilities that are ran privately today. These facilities are known to better rehabilitate those convicted upon entering society again. Team B has developed a private prison to house those individuals who are convicted of committing crimes. Team B has also implemented different programs within the facility in hopes to deter the convicted of being repeat offenders. Unlike other privatized facilities, our major focus is not to lock up as many people as possible. We will actually focus on making them
These products do not rebel against this issues but enhance the needed security that surrounds these controversies, thus these factors did not heavily affect Team 26’s product selection. Other factors that were considered, but did not measure up to our three vital requirements were usefulness, along with how often and how easy the usage of each product would be for the customer. Upon Team 26’s research and evaluations, the top three concepts for Digital Monitoring Products were: The Vision Door, The Portable Cell Tower, and the Weapon Finder. The preeminent concept that matched all requirements was between the Vision Door and the Portable Cell Tower.
1. Information regarding the Department of Corrections’ investigation of complaints related to several correctional officers will spread throughout the institution along certain channels (Stojkovic, Kalinich, Klofas, 2008). Starting with the prison warden this information will need to be efficient and accurate as it travels throughout the organization. Being that the prison warden will be the first to be informed of this information, the chain of command would be downward communication. This type of communication allows a clear passageway for the information to be sent to subordinates and provides for an effective management of the tone and delegation of the message (Stojkovic et al., 2008). The channels that are chosen in regards to the
"Private security and public law enforcement share many of the same goals: preventing crime and disorder, identifying criminals, and ensuring the security of people and property," ("Private Security and Public Law Enforcement," n.d.). There are many more private security officers than public police officers, making tandem projects and collaboration essential ("Private Security and Public Law Enforcement," n.d.). There may be some overlap between public law enforcement and private security, but generally the latter can be more highly specialized and are therefore useful in situations such as campus security.
Electronic monitoring is a device that allows Justice Officers and officials to ensure an offender is at a certain location when 65 required to be there. The use of the monitoring device is becoming more popular as a way to control and supervise offenders within the community to ensure citizens are safe. In the mid-1960 a Harvard Psychologist Robert Schwitzgebel developed the first electronic monitoring device. The device was intended to provide an inexpensive alternative for offenders than incarceration or within the justice process. Even though the device was patented in 1969 it didn’t start coming into effect until the 1980’s. It’s used by courts to track the location of offenders that are under surveillance or restricted to certain areas.

There are over 180,000 felons loose in the United States that police cannot track (Time Maz) due to outdated software, a patchwork of isolated papers and digital files. Retrieving data has been a time consuming task for police departments across the country. Scott Crouch, Flo Mayra and Matt Polega, all 23 year old Harvard graduates, built a cloud based records management and analytics system to help change this process. Thanks to the Mark43 system, what would take Police Officers hours to enter arrest and incident reports, now takes only 30 minutes. A college professor of the three co-founders sent them on a class project in Springfield (is this Illinois? Where?) to observe how the police department used this
With Securus Technology's solutions for corrections facilities, crimes are stopped before they occur, which makes inmates, corrections officers and the public safer. After recently reading a press release where Securus shared a few of the thousands of letter that they receive from their jail and prison customers, I realize that making the incarceration environment safer protects everyone.
Another important worker to the Georgia Department of Corrections is its line officers who make a vast percentage of the GDC's workers. A line officer or officer of the line is used mainly by the Georgia Department of Corrections to refer to a U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force Marine or U.S. Coast Guard commissioned officer. These officers role mainly include exercising general command authority, they are also eligible for operational command positions, as opposed to other officers who normally exercise authority within a specialty. The legal authority for the Georgia Department of Corrections comes from the country in which the organization resides as it is a government base organizations. While the legal authority in the organizations travels from

The future of the criminal justice trends are promising because there will always be need for the criminal justice. The more the community works with the criminal justice system the more technology one can come up with to help make the world safe.
Cell phones smuggled into prisons are the fastest growing form of prison contraband, posing a danger that extends beyond prison walls. The GEO Group is implementing a new application of patented high-tech equipment for detecting and locating hidden contraband cellular phones. The equipment, the ORION Non-Linear Junction Detector (NLJD) manufactured by REI in Algood, Tennessee, responds to electronic components, allowing the user to detect and locate electronic items (such as hidden cellular phones), even if the electronic item is turned off or not transmitting. This technology offers a working solution for correctional facilities to manage contraband cell phones. (Estevez & Gutierrez, 2011)
Security in America has evolved from the time of the first settlers to today’s well-trained forces. Factors leading to the significant growth of private security from pre-Civil War to post World War II consisted of a lack of public police and large monetary loss by private industry. Today, security is global and faces challenges and changes, with increases in terrorism and technology crimes. It must maintain a high level of professionalism and maintain technological innovation remain a respected industry.
Technology has become the bedrock for different parts of the correction system. The main force of expenditures and study in the corrections field is for the use of monitoring offenders. Different technologies that allow for better control pf the offenders can save lives and help prevent new crimes from emerging. The point of these technologies is to reduce the chance of recidivism by deterring criminals from behaviors that they may commit if otherwise left to their own devices. “The role of staff in the correctional institutional environment will never be obsolete but the use of technology can enhance and enable staff to perform their jobs more efficiently and in a safer and more secure way.” (Mannix 2) There is also an increase use of
