Self Assessment Exercise #1
I completed the Keirsey temperament survey at www.keirsey.com and was categorized as an ESTJ, or the Guardian/Supervisor. The Keirsey survey uses the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. My results indicated I am more extraverted than introverted, more sensing than intuitive, more thinking than feeling, and more judging than perceiving. According to the results, ESTJ’s are “the Guardian type most driven to show some type of leadership.” ("Keirsey.com," )This is a very accurate description, and exactly what I would expect to see myself categorized as. I recently separated from the military after 13 years in logistics, and am now pursuing a degree in business

The first section was terminal values, or goals that I would like to attain. The second section, instrumental values, are the means to attain those goals. My top five terminal values were recognition from peers, prosperity; wealth, pride in accomplishment, knowledge and wisdom, and lasting friendships. I believe these choices are closely aligned with the Executives responses in the text in Exhibit 5-3 (Robbins & Judge, 2013). I chose hard work and achievement, and dependability as the most important instruments to achieve my terminal values. I think my personal values and instruments to meet those values would be fairly common for people my age in the workplace. I am a Generation Xer, and others in my generation “rate high on true friendship, happiness, and pleasure.” (Robbins & Judge, 2013)
From section C, I took the “What Motivates Me?” assessment. I feel that motivation is directly related to one’s values, and I found that my growth needs are the most important at this time. I am currently not working full time and am attending college, so according to Keirsey.com this result is typical for a college student. My relatedness and existence needs fall in the mid-range, meaning they are for the most part, satisfied. I think that my current need for growth, is related to the values I chose in the previous assessment. Once I can attain some of those terminal goals, I believe if I were to re-take this
Throughout the group article exercise really did showcase who's personalities were strong and who's personalities were not. Having a strong personality means that you are willing to listen to other people's opinions but will debate on it by logical thinking of how you came across your answer rather than people with not so strong personalities meaning they agree with the group decisions. Through my personality, it will really show how I came across my conclusions, how the group came across their conclusions and how the group is influenced by the decisions made through the online assessments.
For this task you are required to determine the risk context associated with establishing a new business outlet, within the existing business structure. They will be required to review internal and external environment factors and liaise with all stakeholders to generate a list of risks.
While I appreciated that one of my peers provided feedback on my work, I feel that the feedback that was provided did not fulfill the assignment. My peer did not provide detailed feedback on my paper that could be adequately incorporated in my review and revisions. Most of the information that was provided as feedback were simply statements that reiterated what the prompt question was. Please see the below feedback provided to me by my peer.
Of all the forms of literature, the most interesting might be the fairytales, or the science fiction thriller about robots. However, there lacks the sense of truth, in a way blocking the reader from true connection with the story. Memoir is real, memoir is true, and memoir can range from any end of the ocean in structure and theme.
Having many values in my life, the assessment found three that stood out to me. Favorably, I am accustomed to helping others. If I see someone struggling with tasks or comprehension, I always try to help them understand. I can remember when I was a toddler how creative I was. I would often fill my days with telling my family stories and making up songs that my imagination couldn’t hold on to. Being 21 now, creativity has still been a major key factor in success. Thinking of ways to improve computer programs at work is part of the creativity. Being stable is the most important to me. Being without a job, a car, and money, are all key factors that could possibly hold me back from not having a successful career.
My interest for the Attorney Advisor position with the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) arises from my longstanding commitment to constantly improve myself. I have always enjoyed legal research, writing, and the complexities of intellectual property. I have no doubt that my enthusiasm to research, my eagerness to learn, and my strong ability to communicate clearly, work efficiently, accurately, and quickly, will make me an invaluable asset to the USPTO. I believe these traits combined with my unique skillset, developed as a result of experiences working for the Arizona Diamondbacks of Major League Baseball (Diamondbacks), Nike Inc. (Nike), and the Arizona Attorney General’s Office, Liability Management Department (AG Office)
He was used to live in his brother’s shadow, but when the boat accident happened to them, he was the only one to survive. As he was always indentifying himself the less important one, he considered it was wrong that he was the one who would still have a life. As a result of nervous breakdown, he tried to kill himself with cutting his wrists in the bathroom, fortunately his father found out and save him. Then he went to the psychiatric for four months. When he comes back, there are still issues he needs to deal with.
Immediately, I continued to the next part of the Self-assessment section, values. The three options I most valued were altruism/helping society, creativity, and helping others. These values emphasize results I have found in previous sections. I truly value being someone who helps others and
Assessment is all about making judgements. A major argument for involving students in self and peer-assessment is that it helps them to develop the ability to make judgements, in particular about themselves and their work. This is an important life skill as well as an academic one.
The purpose of this assignment is to self-reflect on what has been learnt in the topic this semester and how it is going to influence as a health professional in our chosen field. This assessment is made to encourage us to be able to identify the values and beliefs we have as individuals and how these impact on our ability to interact without others in a diverse society. This self-reflection will include the results from an Implicit Association Test to help gain a greater awareness of my own unconscious thoughts as well as evidence from reliable sources to help back up statements and give evidence to support this assessment.
I believe it is important for any student who wants to do their best in a class to take a moment to evaluate their own work to determine the rate their writing is progressing and how they can continue to advance their writing. When I looked through my own work I asked myself “what have I learned this semester?” and “what do I still need to learn in order to improve my writing?”. Answering both these questions will help me with my last step of my self-evaluation, developing a plan to learn new skills.
Self assessment is a process in which you examine yourself in attempt to discover and learn more about yourself. Your likes, dislikes, behaviors, attitudes and habits can be found during this process. You can use the discoveries to your advantage by accepting or changing strengths and weaknesses. I plan on using this course to enhance my personal skills to become a better student and find success in earning my Bachelor of Arts degree at Ashford University in Social Science. Self Assessment is the first step in my successful future.
Now that I have completed the Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth course Crafting the Essay, I feel I have tremendously grown as a writer. Even after submitting the first assignment, I looked back at a position paper I wrote for school that I received an A+ on, yet I saw several flaws I wished I had changed.
Assessment is the systematic collection, review, and use of information about educational programs undertaken for the purpose of improving student learning and development (Palomba & Banta, 1999). Educational assessments are carried out to measure the efficiency of the program, the quality of instruction and progress of a child’s learning. The purpose is to determine the growth and development.
The results of my self assessment were pretty accurate to what I know about myself. I have strong intrapersonal and interpersonal skills. I maintain strong relationships with others and think deeply about my life choices, goals, and ambitions. The only score that I thought would be higher was my musical score. I can play a musical instrument and I enjoy listening to music, but I don’t like to sing or play for others. Thinking back to my childhood, I was a linguistic learner. I followed directions well, if someone modeled how to do something, I could follow it and explain it back. I liked talking with someone personally to understand different concepts. The older I got, I was able to adapt to how my teachers’ taught. I had one teacher who loved using bodily-kinesthetic activities, I had other teachers who loved to sing and use logical-mathematical thinking. If I didn’t adjust to their styles of teaching, I wouldn’t have been successful in their class. I believe learning patterns can be altered because my learning pattern was altered. I’ve learned many different things from teachers who have different teaching styles. Teaching is an art and all teachers should use different teaching styles. Having a wide variety of teachers with different teaching styles made me a well rounded learner.
