Self esteem can lead to many things. People may not find self esteem to be a big deal but as your kid gets older it gets more important to them. Self esteem can lead your child into depression, bullying or success. Parents never realize what their child is actually going through because they are too busy working or trying to find ways on how to keep their family stable.
People with too much self esteem can lead up to bullying. The reasons for that is when a child is growing up and they have high self esteem, the kids in school will start calling them names like “Stubborn”, “Cocky”, “Conceited”, or something like “She thinks she is all that”. If their child doesn't get them, the Chinese parent assumes it's because the child didn't work hard enough. That's why the solution to substandard performance is always to excoriate, punish and shame the child. The Chinese parent believes that their child will be strong enough to take the shaming and to improve from it. When Chinese kids do excel, there is plenty of ego-inflating parental praise lavished in the privacy of the home. By punishing your child every day for something they are trying so hard at is going to start making them think they are not good enough and that can lead them to depression.
Self esteem can lead you to success. Why wouldn’t someone want to feel so confident of themselves? Having good self esteem for yourself can be such a good thing because you will not slack on your education. People with high self esteem will speak their minds and not be afraid about what they have to say. Self esteem has a strong relationship with happiness. People high in self-esteem claim to be more likable and attractive, to have better relationships, and to make better impressions on others than people with low self-esteem, but objective measures disconfirm most of these beliefs.
