Imagine a world where all trees are depleted or gone, the clear blue sky has turned to grey, and once beautiful oceans are now black from oil. This is a world where industrialization continues to rise. The environment is depleting greatly, deforestation is on a rise, the amount of air pollution is increasing, and once natural disasters are now becoming man made ones. A painting by Frida Kahlo, Self Portrait: On the Borderline of Mexico and the United States, depicts the amount of industry in the U.S. and how the lives of the people are based upon industry. It is shown in the painting that the sky within the U.S. is grey and ruined, this is due to the amount of smog produced from the burning of natural resources. Industrialization has a need …show more content…
The environment is becoming weak and defecated through a rise in industrialization. Increasing industry has caused many environmental issues and disasters to occur such as earthquakes, air pollution, and further medical issues for people.
The acceleration of industry has harmed the environment in ways such as damaging the climate, forest, and air. Industry is thought of as only being involved with air pollution and climate change, however what people do not realize is that more types of industry such as the idea of tearing down trees occurs daily. The increase of a need for wood pellets is causing majour deforestation to occur. “But a new report looks at the deforestation that results from the pellet industry, and it challenges the notion that wood pellets are any more environmentally friendly than fossil fuels like coal” (Cornish). This quote from Audie Cornish, a reporter for NPR news who discusses the environment and politics on a high level, displays the idea that more than just what people believe as the “main” industries are affecting the environment. The planet goes through mass deforestation that can cause the incapability to grow new trees and other

As depicted in the paint by Frida Kahlo, Self Portrait: On the Borderline of Mexico and the United States, the U.S. is seen to be more affected by industry and that is what influences their society. Whereas in Mexico, it is life is more focused upon the roots of a person and their familial ties. The right side of this painting depicts the U.S. and what is of importance there, or the industry. The sky on this side of the painting is a grey-black colour, resulted from the mass amount of smog produced. The painting depicts the industry within the US and how the pollution being leaked has caused the sky to become a dark grey-black colour. Frida Kahlo shows that with production rates growing, the size of industry is growing causing more smog and pollution to be released, which in-turn is depleting the environment. This air pollution leads to medical issues with many people such as asthma. On the left side of the painting, no industry is being shown and the sky is a perfect blue colour, showing that there is little to no pollution with in Mexico and that Mexicans focus more upon heritage rather than expansion of industry. There is little industry in Mexico, as there is very little industry, very little pollution is being released into the air. As little pollution is being released less are suffering from medical issues such as asthma. This part of the painting
as a result of industrial decline in profitability. Furthermore, she illustrates how there will be an increase in environmental pollution and damages to the world, and scarcities in resources due to abnormal climate change in relation to the profitability of natural resource industries such as agriculture and so forth.
In A Mexican Self-Portrait, written by many authors, this article focused on the different lifestyles of the poor and rich woman in Mexico. The representations of women in Mexico for both high and lower classes in Latin America were very different. For lower class they were considered “tortilleras’’, however, one of the most well known was referred to as “La China”. La China was one of the most notable types portrayed in the “Mexican Self Portrait”. She was considered to be an unnamed independent woman of the popular class.
21st century industrialization has a global impact by creating ecological and societal imbalances stemming from its nature to enervate resources and manual labor. The start of industrialization was a way to implement efficiency into mass production, ultimately creating opportunities for jobs and maximizing profit gains for companies. In today’s world, its toll on the environment and the way it shapes society becomes increasingly apparent and irreversible. Therefore, as society acknowledges these effects, changes have been made to address these issues.
“Art is not what you see, but what you make others see (Edgar Degas).” Art can range from paintings, photos, metal working, abstracts and much more. It can take you places where you’re not and it allows you to interpret things differently from other people. There are many pieces of art that are placed throughout Iowa State campus, from the art inside of the many halls to the sculptures and even the buildings that fill campus. These are all just a few pieces of art that have their own meaning and interpretation. The sculpture Border Crossing, located near MacKay Hall, is just one of many located throughout campus. This sculpture represents pushing towards a goal and not giving up no matter the obstacles and that overcoming an obstacle is possible, it also shows the acceptance of culture. Each piece of art has its own emotions attached to it, the sculpture Border Crossing is just one of many that helps support the students of Iowa State.
Environmental Impact: Environmental impact is on the increase due to Industrialization. The nation is advancing slowly in technology.
We were at the border between Mexico and America. I had never been here before and I was anxious. There were so many police walking around. We were going to the place where my dad lived when he was younger. This has shaped me into the person I am today because I saw how hard it is to live over there. I met a lot of my relatives. The food over there was so much better.
Not only does it affect our agriculture, but it affects our health and way of living. Overconsumption has a profound effect on greenhouse gas emissions, the impact of society’s high standards and wants has created new childhood morbidities and health issues. Chronic childhood diseases are linked to toxic chemical exposures produced my production companies. Steingraber explains how one in eight children are born prematurely, which is costing $26 billion per year in medical cost (par. 20). Preterm birth is linked to air pollution and particles produced by power plants. Preterm birth is not the only health issues linked with pollution, but neurodevelopmental disorder and asthma is also linked to air pollution. These health issues now appear almost normal or inevitable. The issue at hand is that we do not identify, nor do we amend the issue that is causing cancer and other health
”Image in a self portrait generally communicates to the viewer information about the identity, character, environment, feelings and interests of the artist.” In the case if “Between the Borderline of Mexico and The United States” Frida Kahlo expresses her feeling that she holds towards hr alien environment, and her cultural identity. This will now be proven through analyzing the portrait to prove the above quote.
The Lorax by Dr. Seuss depicts a world ravaged by deforestation and suffering from other environmental crises. In the town of Thneedville, an aspiring capitalist begins to sell his new product and as a result of booming business, the cornerstone of his business pays the price. The trees, the only natural resource used in production, are harvested to the point of extinction. The lack of trees leads to soil erosion, air pollution, and species extinction. While this is a children’s tale and Dr. Seuss’s illustration may be quite extreme, it is a reality for future generations of our planet. Human involvement in ecosystems by clearing land for urban development, logging, and agriculture have all exacerbated the rate of decline in the region’s natural systems. The deforestation of rainforests for the cultivation of palm oil is causing the possible extinction of orangutans and exacerbating air quality issues in Indonesia.
The 13 million people who live along the United States - Mexican border1 face unique health issues and disparities than their northern and southern residing counterparts. Access to health care is a great health determiner for the many foreign-born residents living in the United States, especially for undocumented immigrants2. The topic to be addressed in this review will include current health issues and accessibility of care for the people living along the US – Mexico border. This study will include infectious diseases, substance abuse as well as issues facing women and children. The combination of many social factors including increased poverty and drug use, limited healthcare and low self-efficacy are all impacting the rates of
The United States has led the fight against criminal activities from Mexican borders for many years. Criminal activities along the United States and Mexican border range from drug trafficking, human smuggling and an economy that disruptive. These are illegal activities scholars have argued could lead to the failure of Mexico as a country and the spread of violence to the United States. The illegal activities are not only a threat to the economy of Mexico and United States but also to the rest of the world due the impacts associated. The border between Mexico and US is of essential significance because it provides the link between the two countries. The border provides passageways through which either country can access the other via land or air means. Although the border is of significance to both countries, smuggling of drugs and trafficking human are main causes of violence between the countries. Drug cartels in Mexico smuggle drugs into the United States and this drives a war between them and the US government. The economy and the peace between Mexico and US is also affected significantly due to the illegal activities. To minimize the violence caused by these illegal activities, the US government need to act against the activities. The United States needs to increase the economic aid and military intervention to Mexico to fight the drug cartels, otherwise it could become a failed state; spreading more violence across the US border.
The advent of industrialized civilization has brought to us many remarkable feats that enhance our everyday lives. Such things as automobiles, airplanes, tractors, mainframe computers, and even relatively simple machines like lawnmowers have intertwined themselves into the everyday culture of modern day industrialized countries.. These products have provided us enormous benefits compared to the types of lives our ancestors used to live. In the eyes of some, the consequences of industrial activities that have evolved around the world will not pose any problems in the future, however as most have realized, this is not true. Contemporary production processes use fossil fuels such as
The other problem closely related to industrialization is problem of big cities. The problem of air pollution increases in the bigger cities because mnozstvo of cars, buses, and trucks. During the traffic jams all kind of pollutants are released into the air, and then people who live near roads have to breath this “dirty” air.
The rest of the world is still living the ways of the past by only producing enough energy for life. While the industrialized world is producing gases that not only hurt their nation’s inhabitants, but the rest of the world inhabitants as well. Inhabitants are not just humans, but animals and plants that make up the world. With increasing gas emissions the powerful nations of the world are making a weaker world environment.
Environmental can includes the natural resources, concern in this area is shortage of raw material and increased pollution.
