It is full of self-sacrifices for the main character, Tris’s, family and friends. However, it show us that society is a place where people betrayal one another in order to achieve happiness. Beatrice (Tris) Prior joins Dauntless and made new friends. She volunteered to take place of Albert when Eric tells Four to throw knifes at him. She could have gotten killed and hurt by the knife, but she did so anyways. She gave up her own life to protect Al, even though she was afraid. “The last thing I want to do is stand in front of that target, but I can’t back down now. I didn’t leave myself the option.”(Page 162) This shows that she values her friends more than herself so she sacrificed her life in order to protect her friends. Tris’s mother got herself killed by brain washed soldiers in order to get Tris to safety at a basement where some of the Abnegation citizens were hiding from the soldiers. “I’m going to distract them. You have to run as fast as you can.”(Page 443) This quote supports self …show more content…
One of these lessons is to find out who are your real friends or the people who you thought was your friend might betray you to gain happiness or hope. Caleb and Beatrice Prior betrayed their parents by not staying in Abnegation, but transferring to different fractions. Beatrice transfers to Dauntless and her brother, Caleb transferred to Erudite, Abnegation’s worst enemy. “And then he holds his hand over the Erudite bowl, and his blood drips into the water, turning it a deeper shade of red.” (Page 46) “Then, with a grasp I can’t contain, I shift my hand forward, and my blood sizzles on the coals. I am selfish. I am brave.” (Page 47) Later on in the novel, Tris’s friend Al bands up with Peter and Drew to try to throw Tris in to the chasm, even though Tris considered Al a good friend. This shows betrayal between the two friends after Tris became number one in the ranks. “Protect Al. My friend. My attacker.” (Page 312) I learned that you should trust the people that are not jealous of your growing power and think about the people that need you, including yourself. In Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, Mildred, Montag’s wife, betrays him by ringing the alarm. “Was it my wife tuned in the alarm? Beatty nodded.”(Page 111) This part of the book taught me that everyone involved in your live is not always fully trustworthy at all times. Betrayal can take place everywhere to everyone so you should be cautious

Unquestionably, all novels can convey multiple meanings depending on a variety of factors with the most important being the manner in which the audience interprets the author’s words. More importantly, to professionally draw conclusions concerning the message the author demonstrates throughout a text, it is essential to discuss and apply the five literary elements of literature to the text. In greater detail, when a work itself is criticized or evaluated, usually one literary element is focused on to prove an argument pertaining to a novel. To bring the topic into focus, Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 possesses many points that could be argued in contradictory ways based upon factual

Empty sockets staring out into the dark abyss of time. Those sockets had glimpsed the beginning of the world Such is the path of history, and all of the lives lost in the name of a cause. More the most part these causes have led to the improvement or progress of society. Such concepts over the idea of sacrificing oneself for a greater principle have plague writers minds for centuries. 1984 and Fahrenheit 451 are both novels telling us of a possible scenario for the development of the world with no place for a sense of personal identity. This world is filled with dystopia, decadence, crisis of morality, loneliness. The main characters in both books are men with their own fears, suspicions and temptations. Each of them has a woman who stimulate their conflict of interest. Their professional duties oblige them to support ruling elites and fight against human rights. While Guy Montag, after a conversation with Clarisse, suddenly feels the need for spirituality, and finds its expression in books, Winston is so burdened by the pressure of the system, so constrained that the formula 2 + 2 = 4 becomes a desired but inaccessible dream and a certain symbol of freedom.
