“Loyalty and devotion lead to bravery. Bravery leads to the spirit of self- sacrifice. The spirit of self- sacrifice creates trust in the power of love,” (Morihei Ueshiba). This quote goes to show the steps in which it takes to qualify as a rightful hero. Therefore, a hero is someone who is self- sacrificing and courageousness, sets an example, and is never selfish or cowardly. A hero is a person who nobly puts others before themselves. My parents are two people who exhibit their selflessness on a day to day basis. For instance, my mom, a kindergarten teacher, who comes home everyday with a smile on her face to put food on on our table, even if she had a long day and has ran out of patience. When Rosa Parks was ordered to move to the back of the bus to give up her seat to a white man, she simply said, “ ‘No sir… I’m stayin right here,’ “ (SB 291). This evidence proves to show the courageousness in her words, and how she was tired of black people always being treated unfairly. She changed our history forever just by deciding to stand up and sacrifice herself for the sake of millions of other people. Her resistance led to the Montgomery Bus Boycott, which caused a uproar in the Civil Rights Movement, taking away segregation laws, and giving African Americans equality. Rosa Parks small use of words impacted our Nation greatly. Not only was Rosa Parks heroic, but Abraham Lincoln, our 16th president, was a hero as well. From his funeral, the sermon that was spoken tried to make the best of the situation by saying, “though our beloved President is slain, our beloved country is saved, “ (SB 68). This quote shows how Abraham Lincoln had many fearless acts of bravery in his presidency, proving his heroicness. He abolished slavery for good, and although it ended up with him being assassinated, Lincoln knew the risk he had to take, and he chose to sacrifice his life for the good of the people. These two people had actions that were inimitable, in which they changed our history books to something so much
