Discussion and Recommendations Based on the analysis of the data collected for this research, academic and social assimilation was necessary to keep African American women college students in community colleges. Every mentoring relationship may differ student to student, but overall, mentoring helps students to develop self-confidence, educational goals, and the aspiration to be successful in an educational setting. As seen in the results of this survey, students thought that consulting was the most helpful service offered by the AASP, as faculty mentors were able to develop compelling relationships outside the classroom to contribute to their academic success. Students took advantage counseling sessions provided to them as 58% of students
Senior Alert: 7 Ways to Stay Safe in Taking Your Medicines Senior citizens are the people who are most likely to take multiple medications due to the occurring chronic conditions as the aging process continues. Essay 2 This year I have taken the initiative and joined the Freshman mentor program. Every Thursday, I stand in front of my freshman class and try to guide them through their first year of high school successfully. I put myself out for them, telling them about my experiences, my mistakes. Not only do I tell them of my experiences, I show them others as well. This allows them realize they can exceed and become successful as well. Weekly, I engage them by asking for their opinions on certain topics , problems, and situations in school and encourage them to find ways to solve or improve those situations and problems. By allowing them to talk, express themselves, voice their opinions, I encourage them to start thinking, to develop problem solving
Your senior year was a wild, crazy mess. You started off the year not wanting to go to school to see Karson because you couldn’t handle it. You even left school some days when he would show up. You let your dumb self try again with Karson and it failed. You got hurt, and even cried.... A lot. You meet the love of your life, Kyle, and still talk to him even though you guys aren’t together right now. You both hope to reconnect after you finish your second year of college. Keep talking to him, don’t let him get away from you. You have had it tough this year, but by the end of the year you didn’t let anything affect you. Your grades were A’s and B’s all year. You made some amazing new friends like, Chandler, Clayton Ecker, Collin and more boys
Number one : Your grades are above all most important. Don’t abuse free time, use it to get a little work done then laugh with your friends. Pay attention in class and please please please listen closely to your teachers. Number two: Love your class. It makes life so much easier. You're in a small school, as long as you're not completely weird you’ll fit in. Friends are essential to a smooth ride through high school. Plus if you get behind on an assignment they can help you catch up. Finally number three: Just keep going. High school will not last forever and it will get straight up depressing at some point, but by all means don’t give up, it’s gonna be ok, and you’ll get through it. It’s been a wild ride for me. I wish you and whoever reads this the best of luck and the funnest of
There are people in everyone's lives who have played a significant role in developing their personality or have been a mentor or a guide or a positive influence all their life. My oldest brother, Kaleb Mortenson, has been all of these as he has helped me with life advice and inspired me technologically and musically.
The Senior Show is a relatively new concept at Pinecrest High School, where the seniors, and only seniors, who are part of the theater department produce, direct, cast, and star in a single play completely by themselves. This year the seniors chose to work on a play
An Update for PALS Mentors You’re there for others, and we’re here for you. From the PALS Coordinator’s Desk… Happy New Year! Welcome to 2017! As we leave the old year behind, I find it hard to forget the often turbulent and contentious public dialogue about…well, almost everything. But there are too many havens
I am excited to finally start my senior year. From what my parents, friends and family have told me, senior year is supposed to be a great year. However, I believe it will be like any other year; it will not be the year I remember the most out of high school. Most of my family has been out of highschool for a significant amount of years, therefore, they do not realize how much the pressure on students has increased since then. Students now are expected to take the SATS and the ACTS in order to get into a good college. In the society we live in now, if one was to go to a community college he is thought less of because he did not go to a college that is known. However, I think community college is a great option for everyone. It is ridiculous
Becoming a Wings peer mentor means that I get to take my knowledge I have learned while at Arrowhead and share it with the people who need it the most. One of the very first things I would share with them is one my my favorite quotes of all time, said by Zig Ziglar: “You can’t climb uphill by thinking downhill thoughts”. I would like to say that I have lived by this saying everyday in my life. All around me I hear degrading things being said about other people and it makes me realize that some days, high school can be a really brutal place to be. You never know who’s talking about you, what they are saying, if your friends are really your friends, or if your crush really likes you. You don’t know what grade you got on a test, and you feel like a teacher has it out for you. There are so many things that occupy a high schooler’s mind and make going to school one of the scariest things you will do, especially when you are a freshman walking into Arrowhead for the first time.
Why are you interested in serving as a peer-mentor to support graduating seniors in enrolling in college
Attending High School is hard enough, especially that last year in High School, yes senior year. Now let's add college classes to that and my High School routine is eat, school, and sleep. In the past, I’ve made horrible mistakes for not knowing how tough courses can get especially with an overload and not studying "right". This year I’ve made changes and improved on how, when and where I study to earn good grades and improve my knowledge.
As a high school senior we look into what we want to do in our future. A big part of that is college. How do students know what college has the best opportunities? How do future students narrow down their options? A few things to look at when choosing a college includes the major of your interest, the campus, dorms, and class size.
I thought Senior year would never come. Well it came and arrived sooner than I though. I've been planning life after high school for a while now but, this year makes everything seem surreal. I thought I had everything planned out, ready to go, and this year would be a piece a cake. I've never been more wrong. The stress of senior year and accomplishing what I need to to graduate so i can further my education in college is weighing me down. Sometimes I need to take a step back, take a deep breath, and just calm down. I know with everything in me I am cabe of whatever I set my mind to as long as I don't let minor obstacles hold me back.
Reflection Paper When reflecting on myself as a communicator I see that there is much strength and weaknesses, but each one of these makes me into the person I am. My strengths encourage me to reach for my goals and dreams; they also allow me to be able to reach out
