Your senior thesis in art is a culmination of everything you’ve learned throughout the four years of art school. However, it’s much more than that. It can be the thing that puts you on the front lines of a major issue or problem. It can also push you to try new materials or even work with new people. If you’re about ready to choose your senior project keep the following four pointers in mind. They’ll keep you on the right track. At the same time, they’ll ensure that you turn out a truly unique project. 1. Choose the Right Advisor Big projects can get unwieldy and overwhelming for the inexperienced. Choosing the right advisor can help you navigate the unforeseen challenges that you face. The person who’s an expert in the topic you want to explore or the medium can do you a world of good. He or she can also help you stay off the rocks so to speak as you navigate the sometimes rough waters of a senior project. …show more content…
Solve a Problem Just because you’re in art school doesn’t mean that you need to only look at the aesthetic value of your project. Can you solve a problem as you do your thesis? This is one approach that U.S. News and World Report suggests that people take. Many of the most innovative designs have solved common problems. Think about products like jackets that turn into sleeping bags for the homeless or paper books that function as water filters (to be used by people living in areas where getting clean water is an issue.) These kinds of projects solved some very real problems in the world today. 3. Make Sure That You Can Access the Right Materials Maybe you like old cardboard boxes. Perhaps you’d love to do a project with them. However, at the end of the day, these types of materials may not be enough to sustain your project. They may also not be enough to make your project
In order to replace human senses, computers needed input devices for perception and data entry.
Throughout High School past students, teacher, and fellow scholars have told me to “Start thinking of a Senior Project Idea”, for me, at least I feel I’ve heard this remark since I was a Freshman. So I did, I thought and I thought, but it always seemed like I just kind of saw someone else's project and said to myself “ok, I’ll do that”, but I had come to recognize that I don’t want my project to be like somebody else, I want my project to be unique. When I started brainstorming my project I wanted to something with sports Baseball or Basketball, whichever one I could really think of a powerful meaningful idea. To be honest when I first started to brainstorm ideas I guess that I felt more that the idea was going to flow to me, but then I realized that I had to reach out and seek opportunities
1. Describe and the biological and psychological factors that contribute to crime and deviance within our society today. There are many factors that suggest that abnormal human traits tend to lead someone to the life of crime. The trait theories are divided into two groups – biological makeup and psychological ideals. The biological makeup tends to say that they the physical and mental makeup of someone tends to make them either lead a life of crime or know the difference. Cesare Lombroso studied “scientific” factors of crime and came up with some very interesting theories about the mental/physical aspects of criminal traits and activities.
The Senior Project is an important part of a student’s final year of high school. It integrates skills, concepts and data from the student’s program of study into one culminating project. Students work on individual projects. A Senior Project consists of a major product/artifact, portfolio, oral presentation and a written reflection paper.
Fictional Writing is literature that is written by an authors to produce stories with a goal to entertain the reader reading the story or for the author to tell their point of view in the story. The result of the written piece of fiction doesn’t have to be a long novel; The finished piece of fictional literature that the author wrote could also be a short story or a poem. Fictional pieces of literature don’t have to be written by authors but by playwright and scriptwriters who write for plays, television shows, and video games with important parts of their fictional writing being on the characters, the plot, the setting, the theme, the style of their writing and tone towards different subjects that are present in the fictional story that is written.
In literature, tone is the attitude a literary works takes toward it subject and theme (Booth 147). The tone in the stories, "The Road Not Taken” and "Hills like White Elephants" are very decisive, strong tones toward the subject in each poem. In the story, "The Road Not Taken" the traveler has decided to embark down the path that is less traveled by others. Then in the story, "Hills like White Elephants" the man and the woman are trying to decide if they should have an abortion or not.
Although the continuation of mastering subjects can provide a building of previous skills, experiences outside of comfortable environments in creative learning catalyze self-improvement. In the art world, Michelangelo was an artist who became famous for his prolific sculpting, such as his depiction of the religious figure, David. Despite public fame in the art society for his sculptured renderings, Michelangelo continued to challenge himself and pursued other artistic forms such as painting. And his creative experimenting paid off not only in accomplishing a self-improvement, but also growing his artistic recognition. Similarly taking on challenges in the art world, this school year, I choose to take AP Art History. I began the class with limited knowledge consisting of only basic facts. However, as the semester progressed, I began to become familiar with the subject and started to notice that i could interpret pieces of art beyond a basic analysis. By making the personal choice to experiment in a subject I knew little about, I was exposed to an entirely different view of humanity; and therefore, improved my individual growth. Additionally, exploration separate from comfortable settings in physical activities creates
Please note: I know the cases are longer than typical test questions, BUT the answers don’t have to be. These are like the exercises in class. I give you the context of the problem, but the answers are much shorter. Let me know if you have any questions.
women), who are some artist that have focused on the human head, how to depict human emotion (body language + facial expression), and last, but not least, the different techniques that one can use when drawing realistically (shading, charcoal, water color, oil pastels, etc.). Some things that will be challenging about this project are finding people to interview that will give me useful feedback, finding the right materials, and filtering out some of the techniques that might not apply to me, so that all the information doesn’t get too overwhelming. My question would be How do I improve my skills at portraiture? Before starting my research, I would probably draw a portrait and then after all my research I would draw multiple portraits (including a new version of the one that I drew in the beginning) to show the improvement that this project has caused. This is a good overarching topic because their are multiple aspects to answering this question. I will not only be able to research various artistic techniques and practices, but also study facial expression and facial bone structure and anatomy. All in all, I think that it is obvious that this project would be involving, educational and would keep me occupied for the 6 weeks that we’ll dedicate to
My senior project is coming together pretty quickly. I have already completed over thirty hours on my project; I still plan on completing more hours. So far, this project has really further developed my appreciation for artists and the hard work they do. It takes a long time to complete even one art piece. I can’t imagine how much time and effort it would take to create enough art to make a living off of. From my personal experience working on art pieces, I now understand why some artists manage to sell their artwork for a lot of money. Creating art is hard work.
For my Senior Seminar project, I plan to write a novel. I always had a passion for writing, but I never shared my writing with anyone except teachers for classwork. My whole life people may not know I am actually a very shy person, I have always felt that because I am on an IEP that I have experienced and have felt judgement. I want to get out of my comfort zone and show people my own creativity through the art of writing and show people that just because you are in a different classroom with different people does not mean you are any lower than them. My inspiration to write my novel was my English teacher, Mrs.Cray, she always pushed me to my limits to be a better writer. I may not know a lot about writing a novel, but I am delighted to learn a new experience with characterization, settings, symbolism, and backgrounds and developing a plot line for my story in general. Once I finish with my project I will continue to strengthen my writing skills and publish more
Coming into senior year, I actually expected the difficulty of the senior project. The senior project is a very time consuming task. It is a major part of determining whether or not we graduate. I never thought that I would be so unsure of my project and what it will require. I need to find out how I will collect my data. I also need to determine my product and how it relates to the project as a whole. An additional issue that I am facing is that I am having trouble putting the concept all together in my mind. Once I actually just use one full moment to gather my thoughts and combine them, I can plan an effective closing project. I want to go out with a bang and finalize the legacy that I am leaving here in Warren County.
We had to make an art piece based on the images that we included in our collage. You could say thta the main theme was ‘the current waves of our society’. This task let me explore different mediums that could be used for art and I tried to keep creative with the choices: I used the usual mediums like pencil crayons, and acrylic paints and experimented with things like glitter and nail varnish. Although this task was not the task that made me discover my favourte medium, or the one that made me the most inspired, it was a satisfactionary
The discovery of the image for the fourth quarter project was by far the most forgiving step. At first, I honestly was unsure how to go about finding the image. I did know one sure fire way to find the picture, but at first I just searched keywords I knew to be true for the image. The image obviously depicted a plethora of airplanes, a few battleships, and was in either the pacific or atlantic. Searching through results on the internet I didn’t find anything at first. I very easily could have done research on what planes or what specific ships were in the waters, but that hadn’t occurred to me until now. As well as doing some amount of research, it was very possible that I simply take a picture of the image and use Google’s “reverse image search” function but of
