The good days of honorable duels see light again as two unsuspecting opponents meet with their blades in the name of honor.
On the evening of the 16th Day of the 1st Moon, ser Kobe challenged Master Vincint to a duel. Fully knowing that he could deny ser Kobe the right to a duel, he favored the young ser and agreed. Terms were set and seconds were found; in ser Kobe’s corner was the newest Preceptor of the Battlers Guild, sera Carla and in Master Vincint’s corner was the leader of the Duelists, ser Edouard.
Together, these leaders neutrally worked together to see the duel on the right path. With the terms of first blood agreed on they made their way to the practice hall. Those present in attendance included, Mistress Meryl, sers Ignoia

Kobe proved his courage, standing up for himself even when he must have known he was going to end up bleeding. It's never a bad thing to stand up for your honor.”
The seconds questioned one more before starting the duel if either opponent changed their minds and wished for a peaceful resolution, when it was clear there would be none they moved into the next steps of checking the weapons. Master Vincint used his own steel rapier and ser Kobe used sera Carla’s steel longsword. After both swords were deemed safe, the duel began.
The duel was formal in all accounts; the two saluted and gave reverence to their second then lunged into combat. Quickly, Master Vincint took the lead, using his years of practice to knock ser Kobe off balance. The brave ser tried his best to hold his own but with a swift move from his opponent was caught in his right rib. Sera Carla called the point and announced the winner before tending to ser Kobe with the aid of others.
Sera Carla too had this to say when asked her opinion on the duel:
“It was a good duel to start the year off and I’m grateful I was able to help settle the

[“I order you to be silent! And I issue a collective challenge! I’ll write down your names, step forward, young heroes! You’ll all have a turn; I’ll give each of you a number. Now, who wants to be at the top of the list? You sir? No? You? No? I’ll dispatch the first duelist with all the honors that are his due. All of you who want to die; hold up your hands does modestly forbid you to look at my naked sword? No names? No hands? Then I’ll get on with my business I want to see the theater curved of this boil. Otherwise I’ll lance!]
During many duels, the opponents follow “Code Duello”. In the book by Ellis, “Code duello” is followed in one of the most historically and influential American duels. This duel helped change the views of many people. This duel is important historically and politically. Therefore, this duel is important for the shaping of America.
In a recent article, Richard Bell argued that dueling was regarded as a form of suicide in the early American Republic, which was considered morally repugnant. Vocal anti-duelist reformers also rhetorically insisted the bloody contests were a unique “species of murder,” although “suicide became the motif of choice for reformers who worked to instill proper fear and disdain for a cultural practice that persisted on the margins of respectable society.”
Chapter 1 focused on introducing two politicians that were about to have a duel on July 11, 1804. Aaron Burr was the third vice president of the United States and the vice president during Thomas Jefferson’s term. Alexander Hamilton was a founding father of the United States and apart of the federalist party. Both Hamilton and Burr were each other 's political rival and would insult one another until they arranged a duel to end their dispute. The duel ended with Hamilton shooting Burr in the right side causing him to die the next day. Newspapers exaggerated the situation by making it seem like Hamilton murdered Burr out of cold blood and dwindling his reputation as a politician. What interested me in this chapter was that in the past they used dueling as a way to handle disputes between one another. However, I don’t think that dueling was the smartest method of settling a coral between people because it is a selfish act that is similar to suicide and risk ruining your life.
Tybalt, with anger for Romeo, threatens him and urges him to fight. Being blind of hatred, Tybalt fights Mercutio who is defending his friend Romeo. What is believed to end the fight only makes it worse, ending with Tybalts sword in Mercutios gut. Unfortunately this incident was intended for Romeo. (Closing sentence)
But this is my counsel, said the Archbishop, that we let purvey ten knights, men of good fame, and they to keep this sword. So it was ordained, and then there was made a cry, that every man should assay that would, for to win the sword.” This quote reminds me of people in life need to battle others to achieve greatness, “for to win the sword.”

It focused on “Hospitality, Fair play, Loyalty, and respect for the land” (“Code of the West”). This also included showing respect for the opposite sex no matter where either of these warriors happened to be. Both of these warriors had their own codes of conduct for duels as well. A duel was an “arranged engagement in combat between two individuals, with matched weapons in accordance with agreed-upon rules” (“Duel”). In the Code Duello there are 25 steps that can be taken to resolve the issues (Tyndall).
He walks on the court telling himself he is the best. He truly believes his is the greatest of his generation. I remember the first time I heard about Kobe Bryant. It was in 2006 after one of his games. January 22nd, 2006 Kobe dropped 81 points in one game on the Toronto Raptors.
Kuroo swung his legs off the bed to reach his full height. Thinking quickly, Akaashi landed a sharp kick to the captain’s shin. The latter recoiled slightly, Akaashi took the opportunity to release one of his hands. With his free hand he was able to strike Kuroo on the arm that was still holding him captive. Once both of his arms were free, he tackled the taller man to the ground, pinning him down with one hand. Raising his hand, knife in hand, Akaashi prepared to strike.
In the story The Last Duel by Eric Jager, fourteenth century in medieval France, a knight by the name of Jean de Carrouges challenges a squire, Jacques Le Gris, to a duel. The reason for this trial by combat, a court-ordered duel intended by fate of God to determine the truth, was to seek vengeance for the sake of his own honor. The wife of Jean Carrouges was the "young, beautiful, good, sensible, and modest" Marguerite. She was expected to maintain a ladylike mannerism and remain loyal to her husband. When the couple traveled to Capomensil to visit Carrouges mother-in-law Marguerite stayed under her watch while Carrouges set out on a journey in desperate need of cash. While away on his journey
In MacNamara (1803), Captain James MacNamara is brought to trial at the Old Bailey on manslaughter charges stemming from a duel in which MacNamara killed his adversary, Colonel Robert Montgomery. Interestingly, an examination of the trial proceedings demonstrates that the defence focused on the defendant’s honourability. Rather than focus on the defendant’s criminal actions, the defence sought to counter the prosecution by highlighting the defendant’s actions in relation to another code, the English code of honour. In spite of a strong prosecution, the jury’s verdict of not guilty in MacNamara is reflective of the vast majority of English criminal trials involving duelists being ruled in favour of the defendants, demonstrating the subversion of English criminal law by the code of honour in the Georgian period (1714-1830).
And so, King Cuerno and Fenix battled. They were evenly matched. The darkness blended in with the light in an elegant dance of combat. Suddenly, Fenix gained the advantage. The fire in his heart sparked his courage. He took to the sky to down the hunter and finally locked him in a Dragon Sleeper, literally wrestling with the darkness.
Brothers, cousins, and family turn to enemies quickly over the small matters in life. Geoffrey Chaucer’s A Knight’s Tale took two cousins with a bond stronger than life, death, and misery, and tore it apart like cotton candy over a worthless love. Arcite and Palamon (our main characters) were prisoners of war of the great Theseus. They claimed to make oaths to one another, and that they would be loyal to each other until death. These claims were nothing, but words. In the first real test of their kinship, their bond withered without a second thought. Oaths of loyalty and the bonds of family were virtually unbreakable in these times, or were they? Obviously these warriors cared little for the brotherly connections they shared as they let coincidence and chance dictate their loyalty to one another. They were painted as noble and honorable men, but they were mainly prideful, ignorant, and selfish. By the end of the tale, Arcite himself hardly even knew his true intentions anymore. Palamon and Arcite’s conflict developed exponentially, which brought to light how true their loyalties really were.
