On Monday, April 24, 2017 at 0940 hours Sergeant Rowe conducted uniform inspection for class 17-02. When Sergeant went to check Recruit Tia Chin he paused to examine the uniform. In the result of checking, Sergeant Rowe asked Recruit Tia Chin, “Who checked your uniform?” Recruit Tia Chin failed to give Sergeant Rowe a response. After being asked a second time Recruit Tia Chin remained at attention and gave no response. Due to Recruit Chin not following command, a memo was issued for the entire class. This behavior was a violation of the Conduct and Behavior policy 97-205 8A. The policy states, “All lawful orders and command will be executed immediately. Failure to obey all lawful orders and command will be considered insubordination and may
The members of the armed forces are well know, and well respected for their discipline. Part of that discipline comes from the ability to follow the orders of your subordinates, even if they don’t feel like it or don’t agree with them. How disciplined can a soldier be if they don’t follow orders. The soldier in question can’t be very disciplined if they fail to follow instructions right? It goes against everything a soldier stands for. This makes them a danger to their team members, especially in a time of war. I do not think
If this reporting policy is not communicated down to the lowest level this is also a failure of communication from leaders to their subordinates. This is an example of an unhealthy communication chain witch can also result in death and injury. To cut down on weak or unhealthy communication from leaders and subordinates there must be strict penalties for these types of failures. This will discourage laziness and incompetence among subordinates and leaders alike. These penalties are also a form of communication. This type of communication uses cause and effect to get a point across. Not only will this stop an individual / individuals from making this same mistake twice, other Soldiers will learn from this as well seeing their peers getting punished. These penalties will discourage this type of communication failure in the future.

The officer’s actions were justified in this case because Lieutenant Baxter reasonably believed that force was necessary to defend himself from the young man. According to one section of the Penal Code, a deadly physical force is justified when the officer reasonably believes that a person has committed a felony and that, in attempting to escape from the custody or in resisting arrest, the felon is armed with a deadly weapon. When the young man stole Mr. Marcel Potts’ car, he is guilty of theft. Therefore, he has committed a felony. Additionally, as stated by the officer, the guy had tried to climb the brick wall. This proves the element of attempting to escape from the custody. Finally, the young man did have a possession of a knife, a deadly

On September 6, 2016, at approximately 0930 hours Sergeant Paul Rowe (Retired) conducted a uniform inspection of class 16-03. I, Brandon Rodriguez, was not in compliance of Policy Number 97-204, subsection A. Inspections. During the inspection, Sergeant Rowe found a thread hanging from my left arm patch. This infraction is in direct violation of the Criminal Justice Institutes above mentioned policy. It is important that uniformity and good appearance be maintained at all times by each student. This can be accomplished by ensuring each student be looked over by a fellow classmate upon getting dressed each day after physical training.

Officer Louis “Lou” Maynard as a new sergeant encounter an early problem with two season officers nearing their retirement, it seemed like they were bored, “as if they were just putting in time until they would become eligible to “hang it up” in one year (More & Miller, 2014, p. 106).” One of the first things the sergeant could do to determine what is the issue with his two veteran officers is schedule an individual meeting with each officer. During this meeting the sergeant can ask each officer if they have any personal issues going on in their life that may have an impact on their work or has there been any major change in their life that could have affected their performance. It is important to determine what is the issue with the sergeant’s two veteran officers, because their mood can have a negative impact on the morale of the other officers. After determining the officers issues or lack thereof the sergeant will need to either request to remove these officer from his unit or given them a verbal warning regarding their mediocre performance. This type of action is not uncommon
