Dangerous sex crimes usually involve necrophilia, sexual sadists and other sexual motivated crimes. Some of the most heinous sex crimes have marked history and are still discussed today. Serial killers like Jeffery Dahmer, who not only sexually abused his victims, but also was a cannibal and would digest body parts of his victims. Sexual fantasies that generally have a darker side is where dangerous sex crimes generate from in my opinion and progressively get worse from there. In particularly, the author had a few topics that he touched base on in more detail which was necrophilia, paraphilla or sexual sadism, and pyromania. Necrophilia is interesting because it involves the use of corpse in a sexual manner. I believe the sexual necrophilia …show more content…
Some of the motivations for necrophilia is for that reason and their will not be any resistance toward the offender. The offenders can have absolute control and unleash their total fantasy unto the corpse. Some people have sexual fantasies about corpses, and other use it because in reality they are unable to be social able to a partner in life and they lack the self esteem they need to get a normal relationship. Jeffrey Dahmer was a serial killer who suffered from necrophilia. In order to be aroused, he had to murder his victims before performing sexual intercourse with …show more content…
Someone suffering from this disorder deliberately and purposely sets fires on more than one occasion. When around fires, a person suffering from pyromania gains intense interest or fascination and may also experience pleasure, gratification or relief. I believe the background and stressors in the lives of the pyromaniacs give cause to the reason they create arson. When they see the fire start and begin to burn down the object or building, I feel it is symbolic to how they view their lives. They are burning away their problems or creating a message to others and they like to bask in their creations. It can be several factors that pose a reason for a person to feel the need to start a fire. Individual factors that can lead to pyromania mainly deal with personal issues in someone's life. Some causes may include the seeking of attention from authorities or parents and resolving social issues such as lack of support from family/ friends, bullying, and feelings of abandonment. Another reason may be more common like revenge. It could be from someone they felt have wrong them from the past of the present and committing arson helps them release their anger and
history, but how did it start how did this tragedy start. Well, we don’t really know how it started, not even Albert Marrin can tell us because he doesn’t know either. He stated this in paragraph 1 “We will never know for sure what started the Triangle Fire. Most likely, a cutter flicked a hot ash or tossed a live cigarette butt into a scrap bin. ”Albert doesn’t know what started The Triangle Fire, but he infers a cutter flicked a hot ash or a live cigarette was tossed into a scrap bin.
Here, Lauren is commenting about the new drug Pyro makes people want to start fires. These individuals
America has some of the most infamous serial killers who marked history, serial killers who once didn’t even think to harm any human being. Many people grow up differently from others, some people grow up in a safe environment surrounded with caring people and others grow up in a completely different environment being missed treated by others, therefore are serial killers made or born?
Danny is captivated by fire and always prefers an open, uncontrolled flame from a match. As opposed to a controlled flame from a lighter, much as he does not like being controlled in all aspects of his life, even his rehabilitation. “In any relationship, but especially with an adult, he had to be in control… He was very, very good at getting people to step over that invisible border. Lambs to slaughter.” Danny controls each affiliation that he is a part of especially those in which affect his life, such as Tom and his hospitalisation. Danny himself is a very uncontrollable character much as an open flame, as he prefers to be the person in control in each situation. With a match, he is the one in control of the uncontrollable material. He chooses whether it can be a harmless or dangerous situation, much as he does in his relationships. At the time of Danny’s arrival at Tom’s house, he was in a state of worry of being found by the media and questioned about the murder. When Danny sets a fire in Tom’s house whilst he is sleep walking, it is a demonstration of how similar he is to the flame. When he loses control of his own emotions, he also releases the flame to its own
Other authors talk more about the aspect of serial killers having a type of disease that makes it impossible for them not to commit these crimes. Cartel (1985) says that in addition to the lack or non-apparent compassion or guilt that the killers contain, they state that they experience a euphoric state during or after these murders. It is like an addiction that they cannot overcome, feeling the need to kill repeatedly to achieve this “high”. Lunde (1980) states that sexual sadism, “ a deviation characterized by torture and/or killing and mutilation of other persons in order to achieve sexual gratification”. Lunde says this in reference to the fact that many serial killers rape their victims before, during, and even after the murder has taken place. He also references that fact that in an extensive number of serial murders, the cause of death was strangulation. This is very relevant because in strangulation deals with total control over the victim. Ramirez’s method of death was sometimes strangulation, though he did choose to shoot many of his victims.
Serial killing is a topic that has long fascinated those who study psychology, criminal behavior, and even the general public. Figures such as Ted Bundy, Ed Gein, and Jeffrey Dahmer have been the subject of numerous studies, documentaries, and books. Females do not readily come to mind when one thinks of serial killers because it is a rare phenomenon. Aileen Wuornos is one female who brought the concept of a female serial killer to the public’s attention, but she is not the only woman who has committed these types of crimes. PK (a pseudonym) is another female studied who was similar to Aileen in that she was also predatory and reactive. Serial killers have different methods and traits, but some primary motivations can be gleaned from studying their case reports. One can also attempt to ascertain why the female serial killer is such a rarity and whether their motivations are similar.
This serial killer was chosen because this serial killing pair is the most infamous English serial killers duo in the 1990s. Fred and Rosemary West were not convicted of all the murders they participated in; however, they were sentenced to life imprisonment. Also, this case is interesting because Rosemary West, to this day, does not claim to know anything about the murders even though she has victims that survived her attacks and have spoken against her in court.
Serial killers traumatize entire communities and cause tremendous disturbance to everyone. The Gilgo Beach serial killer is also known as the Long Island serial killer and Craigslist Ripper is said to have been responsible for 10 to 17 murders. The killer is said to target those who work in the sex industry and is believed to have been active for more than 20 years. Although the killer has been active more than 20 years the police are nit anywhere near to catching him. This essay will take a look at the investigation of the serial killer, take a look at who some of the victims were and finally give my opinion on how the case is being handled. It is important to note that the identity of the killer has not been identified therefore there has not been a trial and a sentencing. Also for the purpose of this essay I will be referring to the Unsub as The Gilgo Beach serial killer or simply as the killer.
Jeffrey Dahmer was a sex offender and serial killer mainly between the years 1978 and 1991. He is well known for his severely atypical behaviors. Among his outward manners that are recognized as abnormal are paraphilia-specifically necrophilia and sexual sadism. Jeffrey Dahmer’s victims, whom were boys and men, suffered from rape, violence, dismemberment and finally their murders. Dahmer’s slow progression of killings soon turned into an obsession, which would later land him in prison with a sentence
After my interest in becoming a Forensic Psychologist grew, I began to learn more and more about the odd mental disabilities some people have. One of the most interesting ones that I have chose to write about as well as, something that stands out to me is: What is the desire of Necrophilia? Also known as thanatophilia, in correlation to Thanatos, the Greek demon personification of death, necrophilia is described as an erotic attraction to corpses, (Webster’s New Dictionary 199). In recordings as early as ancient Egypt, the rare disorder has appeared amongst the human race, “According to Herodotus,' the ancient Egyptians took precautions against necrophilia by prohibiting the corpses of the wives of men of rank from being
This disorder has been around for a long time and is characterized in the DSM-IV as “an unspecified paraphilia with no generally agreed upon specific diagnostic criteria except for postmortem sexual activity with a body” (Stein, 2010). Scientist Richard von Krafft-Ebing was the first to recognize the connection between sexual homicide and necrophilia. One theory describing the connection states that the offenders long for a submissive sexual partner who is unable to reject them. Another theory states that the offender’s aspiration is to further demolish and demean there already deceased
“The serial killer ‘is an entirely different criminal,’ ”The term serial killer is misleading on the ground that each murder is intended to be the last.” We see them as a figure of “the dark side of human potential,” but they believe they’re “on a heroic quest for the biggest score possible” They believe they are “the archetypal figure of impurity, the representative of a world which needs cleansing.” However, society knows that serial killers are not heroes, and they’re not cleansing the world. “The figure of the serial killer is violent impurity personified, and it is a construction that necessitates figures of violent purity to confront it.” While it can be argued whether having mental disorders should prevent a serial killer from being capitally punished, it is proven that many serial killers suffer from “paranoid schizophrenia, manic-depressive psychosis, or psychopathology.” It’s even said that “this crime is actually a form of disease. Its carriers are serial killers who suffer from a variety of crippling and eventually fatal symptoms, and its immediate victims are the people struck down seemingly at random by the disease carriers.” Serial killers usually have a stressor in their life that makes them start killing, and when they do “homicidal mania becomes ‘a necessity… linked to the very existence of a psychiatry which had made itself autonomous but needed thereafter to secure a basis for its intervention by gaining recognition as a component of public
From an early age, Dahmer had feelings of abandonment. People who engage in necrophilia behavior is believe to suffer from low self-esteem. The fear of rejection is a factor believed to attribute to developing this disorder (Necrophilia, n.d.). As with Dahmer, as long as his victims were dead, there was no risk of rejection.
A small percentage arsonists are driven by a mental condition known as pyromania, which is an irresistible urge to set fires combined with an intense fascination for flames (Bartol & Bartol). These fire setters claim they have no control over their fire setting impulses.
They usually hate their parents. Almost every serial killer is abused as a child, whether it is sexually, emotionally, physically, or psychologically. This abuse may come from a stranger or a family member, but many serial killers try to lie about this history of abuse. Most serial killers have records of early psychiatric problems and often spent time in institutions as children (i.e.: mental hospitals or psychological rehabilitation centers). They have an intense interest in voyeurism, fetishism, and sadomasochistic porn at a very early age, and they also have a very high rate of suicide attempts. Future serial killers share three other traits in their childhoods. More than sixty precent of serial killers wet their beds past the age of twelve. They also have a fascination with fire, which may be an early manifestation of their fondness for mass destruction. In addition, almost every serial killer starts his abuse and sadistic torture on animal victims (Fisher and Fisher, 2003).
