A service animal is one that is pre trained to help people accomplish tasks that they cannot execute on their own. These services include a wide variety of people that need help each and every single day. (“About Service Animals,” 2016). PAWS trains many service dogs to assist people who have Multiple Sclerosis, Muscular Dystrophy, Rheumatoid Degeneration, ALS, Cerebral Palsy, spinal cord injuries, and many other conditions affecting a person’s mobility or strength. Not only do they perform tasks related to a physical disability, PAWS dogs can also be trained to help with tasks having to do with a seizure disorder or hearing loss (“Paws with a Cause,” 2013). Service dogs help out physically, with cognitive and intellectual skills, sensory motions, and the mental and emotional state behind every person. The service animals’ jobs can range from helping someone get around all the way to keeping them alive day to day. The relationship and trust associated with their dog is crazy (“About Service Animals,” 2016).
Dogs benefit humans in many ways. They help the young, the sick, and the elderly population. Animals not only influence our happiness each and every day, they also give humans a life full of splendid health. The next when a family member is uptight or bickering at each other, remember that there is always a dog out there willing to be a best friend. The world would be a much nicer place if people could love more like dogs; dogs truly are a mans best
There are 3 different types of service dogs people can have: Emotional Support Animals, Therapy Animals, and Service Animals. Emotional Support Animals have one task and that is to provide comfort and support, emotionally, to someone who needs it and has a documented health condition. Therapy Animals are registered through an agency and their purpose is to provide therapeutic value to those who need it. Service animals are trained to perform tasks the owner simply cannot do on their own, guiding blind people, detecting seizures, helping people who have lost legs or arms.
At first sight, service dogs look like any other dog. They are furry. They walk on all fours. They have a tail. But they have many differences from other dogs. Service dogs are well behaved and are obedient. They wear clothing that no other dog wears such as a vest to make people aware that they are service dogs. Service dogs perform tasks that no other dogs can do, like paying for meals and carrying objects for their owners, sometimes in a vest compartment like a backpack. Service dogs are unlike other dogs because they are trained to do tasks that human beings normally do, but can’t because of some disability. Service dogs help their owners navigate the world they live in by assisting their owners in overcoming day to day
So service dogs need training. One of the problems with people who need a service dog is that it is hard to know where to start. Their doctor tells them that they need one and gives them a letter stating so, but then they are on their own. Most people look to service dog organizations. These organizations train the dogs to their own set standard and will try to match them up with the right dog for their needs. This all of course comes at a cost to the disabled person. (who already has many extra costs in life.) The costs can range from five hindered to twenty thousand. One the disabled person has decided that
The guide dog performs functions and tasks for the person that has disabilities and cannot perform for him or herself. A sighting seeing dog is one of the services for who are blind. This is the type of service animal with which most people are familiar. The guide dog is not a pet, but not licensed or certified. But there are service animals that assist persons with other kinds of disabilities in their day-to-day activities. Some examples include: Alerting persons with hearing impairments to sounds. Pulling wheelchairs or carrying and picking up things for persons with mobility
Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines a pet as “a domesticated animal kept for pleasure rather than a utility.” Dogs have been considered man's best friend for centuries. They have stood side by side through natural disasters, family tragedies, the gift of life, birthdays, and anything else that comes to mind. These furry friends do not judge people for how they look, but show love and compassion to everyone. Dogs help people cope mentally and emotionally, receive sufficient exercise, and create new friendships.

Dogs dramatically impact the lives of people in numerous aspects. Not only do they work for humans tirelessly, but they do it with a smile on their face and a wag in their tail, and they are non-judgmental towards people with disabilities. People utilized the help and companionship dogs provided even hundreds of years ago. However, many people see dogs as futile, considering training, money, time, and work that is put into owning a dog, let alone having it specifically trained to do a certain job. It is also risky putting so much time and effort into a dog, being aware that they are very capable of making mistakes just as humans are. Also, many people do not know the depth of the work that dogs provide, or
A service animal is any dog that is trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability. The difference between a service animal and a regular pet is that a service animal does work/tasks that must be directly related to the handler’s disability. Service animals have been helping disabled humans since 1927. There are three types of service animals: guide animals, hearing animals, and service animals. A guide dog helps to guide the blind; a hearing dog helps to signal the hearing impaired to noises; a service dog helps do work for patients with disabilities other than blindness and deafness.

Service dogs have to follow distinctive guidelines to become a certified service dog. Service dogs must be able to respond to commands (basic obedience and skilled tasks), be able to respond to hand or voice signals asking the dog to come, sit, stay, lie down, and heeling. This specific training method is where the dog is able to maintain a relative position to the handler, regardless of how the handler moves (Kirsten). As a result, to make sure service dogs show the capability of helping their owner, they need to perform at least three tasks to alleviate some of the client's difficulties with their disability. Dogs should be spayed or neutered, have current vaccinations, and are required a minimum of 120 hours of training for each dog by a
