In chapter 3, the basis of the chapter was sex trafficking in the St. Louis and bi-state area. It went into details about how sex trafficking occur, why sex trafficking occur, and who is at risk for sex trafficking. Chapter 3 first goes on to provide who are at risk. Sex trafficked victims are of a variety of contrasting demographics who stem from different socio-economic backgrounds. Chapter 3 also talk about how the general population usually have the wrong idea of what sex trafficking is. It is not how movies portray it to be and most cases. It goes on to describe the types of sex trafficking which are pimp-controlled prostitution, the "boyfriend pimp," survival sex, parents-as-traffickers, false-front fraud schemes, and pornography. Children born into abusive families are at an increased chance of being a victim to sex trafficking. LGBTQ are extremely more likely to be apart of abusive home because of the likelihood of their parents not accepting them for who they are. Poor schools limit children prospects because of this poor schools can be a catalyst to vulnerabilities to sex trafficking. Poverty is another thing that put one at risk for being a victim of sex trafficking because there is room for exploitation. Mental Health and substance abuse is another way how people are at risk for sex trafficking. Lack of resources for those who have these ailments forces them to be potential victims for sex trafficking because of the difficulties of getting work and help. Chapter also go into details on techniques of traffickers such as recruitment, presenting barriers to leaving, and conducting trafficking operations. Traffickers doing recruitment would present themselves as anything to get the person to trust them whether that is the daddy role, boyfriend, etc. Once the relationship or bond is built then they abuse them in various ways then pimp
