Sex trafficking, more specifically children sex trafficking, is the second growing industry in the world. It grew to be a $12 billion income per year. Most citizens in the U.S. would be disgusted by this fact but, many are completely oblivious to its existence. So what’s worse, neglecting something so terrible or knowing about it but failing to spread the news? Awareness of children sex trafficking can be increased by spreading the news on social media, hold a fundraising event to combine awareness and entertainment, and create frenzy for the younger generation to allow them to understand. Media websites such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Reddit have played such an essential part in spreading news like wildfire. Such examples …show more content…
Fundraising isn’t necessarily something to attract the youth but more for the adult. After all, mommy and daddy are the providers for the children financial for a certain amount of time which also includes the age in which most teens are brought into the sex trafficking ring. At the age of 12, some teen unfortunately are doing something completely unconsented instead of complaining about their last test. That being said, parents would do anything to prevent such atrocities from happening. Doing a fun fundraiser such as the one the Franciscan Charity did would allow funds to raise awareness in not only the community but throughout the nation if it is done well. Last but certainly not least, creating a frenzy. Everyone went from not knowing what ASL was to trying to spread the word out. Something similar to the ice bucket challenge would allow the youth and adult to be aware of something that is so horrible done to young children. Even though it is a very sour topic to turn into positivity, it would allow people to want to research what is going
Have you ever walked into Wal-Mart and taken the time to look at the numerous pictures of missing youth that is plastered on the wall? When looking at how long they have been missing, it ranges anywhere from months to years. Looking at their age, both boys and girls, it is hard not to wonder if these kids are being trafficked. Child sex trafficking, also known as human trafficking, is a major issue that is not only plaguing the United States, but the world. Residing in a state where teen sex trafficking is very common, it is imperative that not only adults, but the youth understand what child sex/human trafficking is, what is a sex-trafficker, and the data that reveals the seriousness of child sex
St. Jude’s target for marketing fundraising is far larger than most charities. Their target; preschoolers, professionals, 8th graders and 80 year olds, television, radio, local drives, school drives, trike-a-thons, math-a-thons, local, county, state and national events. Some of the big ones that you may be familiar with; the “Dream Home Giveaway”, the “Thanks and Giving Campaign” and the radio-a-thon “Country Cares”. Because of last year’s St. Jude’s NFL event, 18% of American’s said they planned to support St. Jude’s “Thanks and Giving Campaign” during this past holiday season. No opportunity is turned away.
Human Trafficking is one of the worst crimes again humanity, it brings shame to those around it and lets the innocent suffer. Human trafficking which involves sex trafficking is one of the disgusting human rights violations. You rarely or never hear the new speak on this subject or is it a conversation that you want to have with your friends over the gossip that you watched on E! News the night before. The American government has finally taken a step forward because national security is threatened because money from human trafficking has funded terrorism.#

My first step of this project was creating flyers that I hung up in the park near my house and passed out to my neighbors. I also texted family and friends to see if they were interested in donating. All advertisement/donations
There is many problems in this world today. One of those problems was unknown to me until I read a report from CNN’s reporter Sarah Sidner who is doing a five-part series on Sex Trafficking called the Freedom Report. In her first installment, she addresses that victims of this heinous crime are getting marked by their traffickers.
The DOS defines “child sex trafficking is when a child (under 18 years of age) is induced to perform a commercial sex act, proving force, fraud, or coercion against their pimp.” Human Trafficking also “trafficking of persons” is the act of recruiting, harboring, transporting, providing, or obtaining a person for compelled labor or commercial sex acts through the use of force, fraud, or coercion (DOS, para 1). Lastly, sex trafficking is when a person is coerced, forced, or deceived into prostitution (para
Do you know what sex trafficking is? Sex trafficking is when traffickers use force, fraud, or coercion to lure victims into commercial sexual exploitation (Homeland Security). I did not know either until I read The Sex Trafficking of America’s Children by Alisa Jordheim. Did you also know that it
Provide awareness to the community members by using at least six fundraising events each year.
Sex trafficking can happen everywhere. People do not even realize when it is happening. Someone could be living their life, just as they normally do, and decided to go to the mall. Sometimes they may not even know that a little kid is going to be kidnapped, and later raped. This is what sex trafficking is. Sex trafficking is commonly defined as when violence, drugs, lies, or any other form of coercion is used to force another person to have sex against their will. (Sex Trafficking in the U.S, 1) Sex trafficking is becoming a bigger issue more and more each day. As a society, sex trafficking needs to be known about by everyone so we could prevent, and eventually stop sex trafficking.
If I were to implement this plan I am determined to start by brainstorming ideas for a good fundraiser for example a lemonade stand,
Traffickers manipulate adolescents and youth into the sex trafficking through targeting their emotional vulnerabilities. To begin, traffickers use threats, intimidation and violence to enforce or entice adolescents into trafficking. One adolescent, a runaway from Baltimore County, Maryland, is gang raped by a group of men associated with the trafficker, who thereafter executes a “rescue” (Walker-Rodriguez & Hill, 2011) Following the “rescue”, the trafficker imposes she recompense him by working for him as one of his prostitutes (Walker-Rodriguez & Hill, 2011). Unfortunately, in many cases youth are generally beaten up until they yield to the trafficker’s orders (Walker-Rodriguez & Hill, 2011).
The incidence of child sex trafficking is high, but there is still no reliable data. The incidence and prevalence data is also still scarce, and there is no consensus on the current estimates. The estimates focus on youth who are at risk for sex trafficking contrary to the actual victims. Some groups have carried out research on the subsets and subpopulations of the victims to provide an understanding of the scale and nature. The arrest records for example in 2009 data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Uniform Crime Reporting among other bodies estimates that about 1400 minors were arrested for prostitution and commercial vice in the U.S that year. Other organizations such as Human Trafficking Task Force do not have the exact
I saw the opportunity to utilize my business savvy to help them achieve their goal while simultaneously giving back to the community. In 2013, one of my Calabasas classmates, Kevin Cordasco, was tragically taken by Neuroblastoma Cancer. His loss moved me deeply, and for some time I thought about raising funds for cancer research. When my track teammates’ need arose, I proposed that Calabasas High School stage a 5k Run/Walk event at Calabasas High School, simultaneously raising money for the marathon, uniting our community and raising awareness of childhood
Children ages eleven to eighteen are usually the ones taken into forced child prostitution. In some countries they are younger than that. These children are kidnapped from all over the world and sold to pimps to make them work for them. In some places they don’t want the children to be older than eighteen. If they are older they are usually killed on their nineteenth birthday.
