ESSAY #5 Women are victims of crimes everyday some are minor crimes others are major crimes that a lot of women cannot get away from. Sex trafficking is the second largest criminal activity in the world. Women become victims of trafficking by being sold into it as children, being immigrant with a promise of a better future, abduction, or false job promises. The victims are force to do whatever they have to do in order to survive most common job for victims is being use for sex, or having to work in very bad conditions with very long hours. The trafficker takes advantage of the victims by telling them their dreams are going to come true but then end up taking their passports and making them have to work in order to receive their passports…show more content…
The law needs to figure out how to “jail the offender and “protect the victim” a little better. When a victim gets help they need to feel like they are not going to be the main one getting into trouble and has to help them be safe after they come forward. Jailed offenders are based off of deterring future trafficking but this rarely works out and the offender continues committing crimes. Some of the practices that can be implicated from these two models to address the needs of trafficking victims: are to protect the victim, educate people better on the topic, prosecute traffickers, and implemented the law (Stacy L. Mallicoat, 2012). These can help lower the number of people that are being trafficked from country to country if everyone know what the law is and enforces the law to allow the victims to get the help they need instead of charging them for the crimes they had to commit while under someone’s who control that who trafficked…show more content…
Ciudad Juarez is a city known at the “future city” to the United States. It is right on the border of Texas, near El Paso. The United States believes that Ciudad Juarez is the future because it allows big factories to produce in Mexico and have easy access to America to ship their goods to sell. On top of easy access, Mexico does not have the same minimum wage limit so big businesses are allowed to get very cheap labor, which allows the product to be sold cheaper. In reality Ciudad Juarez is one of the most dangerous cities in the world due to the cartels and police. Since 1993 a pattern of femicides (killing of women) estimates about 400 were women killed between the ages of 11-24 (Stacy L. Mallicoat, 2012, p246). Even though the United States thinks this city is working out for the best; but it is a huge poverty town whose main production is trafficking women and drugs. Femicides have been linked to larger social issues like masculine identity and allowing females to enter the workforce. Some countries believe it is okay for a guy to be violent against a woman. Also when a woman enters the work force it can cause a threat to men masculinity. To help allow women to enter the work force without the men feeling that they are taking over their jobs they can open up more jobs for men.
