A Billion dollar industry putting many lives at stake
Ask anyone, anyone who keeps an eye or have an idea on human trafficking, the replies will indicate and cover the ongoing crisis that has been assuming a part in putting millions at stake. What do you people think about it? This is not surprising that you people have not taken any major initiatives given that many of the respective governments have not yet established an organized and skilled force for combating it.
However, recent studies and articles provide enough evidence of this racket and also mention the need of governments and normal civilians to act and be more conscious on it before its too late. After much observation, ECPAT International and Body Shop International revealed that sex trafficking is one of the major reasons behind human trafficking and the greater parts of the casualties are women. What do you think only women are affected? That is a very wrong conception. This BILLION-dollar industry is putting millions of lives at stake. They didn’t spare the young people neither the poor ones. And it is very clear that without the help of the government body and the realization of the citizen, this industry cannot be shut down. This is growing gradually and

It is obvious we didn’t. People who are rich, lives their lives in their own way turning a blind eye on poorer ones. Soroptimist (2008) mentioned in his article that these traffickers affect poor people the most. They are given the hope of better lives; better jobs, more money and they usually fall for that. Less education and poverty usually leads to such mistakes. As indicated by Soroptimist (2008), women may be trafficked starting with one nation then onto another at any time. Nevertheless, nations with the most elevated rates of sex trafficking episodes are for the most part in poorer nations with ruined government
You may be asking yourself, what is the real problem before the solution is stated? Sex trafficking is the selling of children and adults for money with them performing prostitution, pornography and sexual performance in return for drugs, shelter, food, money, or clothes. According to Safe Ventures in 2016, every 3 minutes a minor is sexual abused, 10-15 minors sold as sex slaves a day, 5.4 million reports of child exploitation in the US alone. According to the ILO it estimates human trafficking generates $150.2 billion in illegal profits every single year. What most people fail to notice is that sex trafficking is business that is strictly just profit which makes it that much more dangerous of an issue because there is no supply to buy. Traffickers use several tactics to lure their victims with using fear, intimidation, violence, and threats to make their slaves follow their commands. Sex trafficking is pure evil and we need to do something about so it does not happen to those who are possible victims.
According to the article “Do U.S. sanctions effectively combat human trafficking?”, most victims of human trafficking are extremely poor and lured into human trafficking. Human traffickers will often place ads on the internet or in a newspaper about a job (often modeling or becoming a nanny) targeting extremely poor and desperate people. People will then see these jobs and contact the “employer” and schedule an interview. Traffickers will then trick future “employees” into signing a contract to be trafficked, or even kidnap them and then force them to participate in human trafficking. These people being tricked into trafficking are often very poor and see a job opportunity far away, that offers great benefits, and no past experiences, or higher education and jump at the chance right away with no suspicion. With some much poverty in the world, there will always be plenty of easy targets for human traffickers. Laws can only do so much to help stop human trafficking, poverty needs to be stopped so people are not at risk for being tricked into trafficking. By helping decrease the amount of poverty, people become less desperate to find well paying jobs with not very many requirements. People will be more willing to research the job opportunities to make sure their possible future employers are not traffickers. Instead of creating lots of ineffective laws and bills against human trafficking, we need to create safe jobs for people in need of them. By creating secure jobs, it becomes less likely that someone will be tricked into working for a human trafficker. Human trafficking needs to be stopped at the source, poverty, otherwise trafficking will never be
Sex trafficking is becoming more of a problem as time moves on. Sex trafficking is the recruitment, harbouring, transportation, provision, or obtaining of a person for the purpose of a commercial sex act, in which the commercial sex act is induced by force, fraud, or coercion [Internet Safety 101]. Sex trafficking is increasing due to the evolution of modern day social services and sources. From safety sources, it is the second fastest growing criminal industry, [Internet Safety 101]. Increasingly, sex trafficking is coming about due to the evolution of the internet and the improved ability of GPS tracking. On social media, many people find other people and try to be their friend, even if they don't know who they are. This provides opportunities for fake people to create more of a problem. The internet is providing different advertising places that can increase the effect of sex trafficking and lure in citizens to becoming victims. Sex trafficking has to come to an end for the safety of citizens, for the safety of their pride and dignity.
Human trafficking, or the selling and buying of people, is a well-hidden yet prominent issue within today’s society. It is both an immoral and horrific topic that needs brought to attention and dealt with. When human beings are manipulated into work, sexual servitude, or economic hardship, human trafficking is occurring. In the year of 2006, only one individual is convicted of human trafficking per 800 victims (UNGIFT). By looking at straight statistics, reasons human trafficking happens, and the toll it has on people, it is very clear that this is a major issue that is happening in our world.
Up to 600,000 to 800,000 people are trafficked annually, of which about 80 percent are women and up to half are children. Human traffickers take people against their own will in order to make some money for themselves, and they have no compassion towards their victims. Several solutions have been brought up, but most will not fix the problem. Some people state that we just need to add to law enforcement efforts and put harsher punishments into effect, just like Koh Tsin Yen did in her 2016 article “Point: Human trafficking is a domestic and transnational crime. Governments should strengthen their law enforcement efforts to combat it” that was published on InfOhio’s Point of View Reference Center. On the other side of this argument, opponents
When a person thinks of sex trade, or sex trafficking, or human trafficking, they are often not informed of the numbers and rates that this crime is happening in. Looking at how many people have their freedom taken away daily is ridiculous.
One of my all time favorite musicals as I was growing up was alway Annie, about a sweet little orphan who through determination and a little positivity found a better life. But has happened to orphans nowadays, you don’t exactly drive by your neighborhood orphanage on your way to work. It seems that these children have disappeared, virtually falling off the face of the earth. Today they are called foster kids with families like my own housing them. The early foster system was established in the 1500s in order to care for children who were removed from their parents. Foster care was intended to be a short-term solution until the child is either adopted or reunited with their family. However, the average child will spend over two years waiting to be adopted. But the flaws in this system run much deeper, from mental disorders all the way to human trafficking. Human trafficking through the foster system is a dire problem that can not be neglected. We will examine this today by looking at three points; recognizing what the problem, understanding the pressure that they are under, and finally how you and i can help provide the promise of a new life
Thesis: Human Trafficking is steadily increasing worldwide that results in slavery, violence, and even death.
Everybody is born with a voice. One may have a voice that can be heard for miles, while another may possess a voice that is very quiet and not often used. Being born with a voice is a gift, a gift so precious. One may use their voice for good, to stand up for what they believe in, while another may use it to promote bad behavior. Some people tend to overlook its value until possibly one day, it is snatched away from them and there is nothing else they can say. All around the world today, there are people who have have been forced into human trafficking against their own will. The victims have had their voices stolen away by human traffickers. They can no longer be heard by the public, as their voice begins to silence. The only people who can speak on their behalf is the government. The government has the power to help the public become aware of the issue. They can also help by enforcing laws, as well as new programs, to get victims out of the inhumane system that has dramatically began to rise over time. The government can assist in establishing a better life for those who have been victimized. Without the government’s aid in funding, which means the increase in tax dollars, the problem will continue to grow and more victims will be trapped in the system.
Specific purpose: I would like my audience to understand that we live in Texas and are not very far from Houston and that Houston is one of the most intense human sex trafficking regions in the country.
Imagine for a moment you are a normal man or woman. You have lots of friends, a spouse who you love, maybe children and pets too. You have a new co-worker at your job. This person has invited you to come to a party in the less safe part of town, but you accept anyways because you want to become friends with this person. The next thing you remember is waking up in a strange place, surrounded by strange people, they tell you you are to do everything they say or your family and friends will die. You will now be forced to perform sex acts, or forced to work for little to no money, and you won't be allowed to see your family ever again, with no way out unless someone from one of many organizations rescues you. People who are trafficked are used in many ways and for many reasons. Human trafficking victims can go to one of the many organizations for help.
Batstone, David B,. Not for Sale: The Return of the Global Slave Trade-- and How We Can Fight It. New York: HarperSanFrancisco, 2010. Print.
In 2007, the U.S. state Department reported, “600,000 to 800,000 people are trafficked across international borders every year,” “1 million is the number of children exploited by the global commercial sex trade every year,” and “161 countries identified as affected by human trafficking” (Polaris Project, DoSomething.org).
In recent times, the number of human trafficking cases has skyrocketed through the roof. So, what exactly is human trafficking? Human trafficking is defined as a criminal activity, in which people are recruited, harboured, transported, bought or kidnapped for the purposes of exploitation. These exploitations include forced labour, child soldiery, sexual slavery, forced marriages and so on. Statistics show that the main victims of human trafficking consist of women and young girls while children come in a close third (Appendix A). Over the years, human trafficking has become rampant worldwide as the demand for human labour and sex slaves drastically multiplies due to the Internet.
The governments of the developing world encourage and utilize the sex trade industry as a progress strategy to repay millions of dollars of debt to international corporations. There are also economic incentives for the governments of both the exporting and importing countries to ignore the trafficking in women, and the governments are relatively uninterested in the women’s well-being.
