Minaj Figure Gives New Meaning to "Sex Wax"
Most of the wax figures in Madame Tussaud's Las Vegas gallery are shown in iconic clothing and poses. This is great if your famous pose is one where you are standing with your hands on your hips or some other traditional stance. The new Nicki Minaj waxwork was not so traditional, however, showing her on all fours with little clothing as she was in the music video "Anaconda."
Minaj, flattered to be represented at Tussaud's, was impressed with the likeness and was excited about the addition. Others were not so keen on the new work feeling that it was both disrespectful and sexist. Azealia Banks, a rapper who saw potential problems with the new piece, was not so concerned with the representation as what would happen to it. Using Twitter-friendly, toned-down language,

The Independent out of the UK reported "photos of people defiling Nicki Minaj’s waxwork" caused Madame Tussaud's to issue a statement "saying they were concerned over the ‘inappropriate’ photographs being taken."
An excerpt from the statement reads, "Our visitors are generally respectful towards the wax figures...We do have staff monitoring guest behavior in the attraction and do our utmost to ensure our wax figures are treated respectfully, but on this occasion clearly one of our hosts was not present." They said that they will be increasing staff presence around the Minaj waxwork to avoid further occurrences.
Minaj earned her way into the famed waxworks museum being the only woman featured on the Hip Hop Cash Kings list published by Forbes. She was ranked four consecutive times from 2011-2014. She is the most followed rapper in the world on Twitter and is the only artist to win the BET Award for Best Female Hip Hop Artist five times in a row. Missy Elliot is the only other woman to even win five of the
Each artist was influenced by the culture and location in which they created the artwork. For example, Nefertiti was the queen of Egypt with Akhenaton her husband. The style of this sculpture is Egyptian because of its location. Because Neffertiti was queen, the culture changed how the artist portrayed her. In fact, Fred Kleiner a well-known author of multiple art history articles and books says that “The sculptor seems to have adjusted the likeness of his subject to meet the era’s standard of spiritual beauty” (76). She likely would have taken offence if the artist did not change her appearance biased on the cultures ideal. This artwork was commissioned, which also played a role in the influence of this piece. Not to mention that the king commissioned this piece, and obviously no one wants to get on his bad side.
In the essay from “ From Fly Girls to Bitches and Ho's" by Joan Morgan. Morgan writes of the qualities of hip-hop music and rap artists she appreciates such as its impactable , mesmerizing , powerful , strong and beautiful if used the correct way. She often says how it makes women feel degraded , it's not a great feeling to have when you think of it this way. In the essay “ From Fly Girls to Bitches and Ho's" that “Its music that that repeatedly reduces me to tits and ass” . Joan Morgan is after all a feminist but a female rapper . This makes her question what she's even supporting in a way.

In our experiment, we constructed a “boat” of sorts out of candle wax and paper. The object of the experiment was to build a boat that could hold a large amount of pennies. To do this, one must construct a bottom with as much surface area as possible. This is because the more water the boat pushes out of the way, the better it floats and the more “cargo” it can carry.
Nearly two decades later, in her July, 2010 reflective article “A Bitch Ain’t One: Hip-Hop’s Gender Crossroads and Its Reluctance to Embrace the Feminine Creative Process” former hip-hop artist and multi-faceted career woman Hanifah Walidah mulls over the words of a misogynistic emcee. Walidah provides background into a past interview, the sole purpose for the drive of her article; she articulates her outrage in response to the chauvinistic views of an once applauded emcee, a man she looked up to, moreover noting the importance of Walidah’s interaction is crucial for her to shed light upon the way of men within the hip-hop spectrum.
To this day she is one of the most famous female figures in hip-hop history. Donalson stated that Latifah had “attained the most positive reception by Mainstream America” (101 Donalson). It was important for a woman figure to have a huge fanbase in order to introduce what their place in the hip-hop world would be. Today people like Nicki Minaj have huge influence in the world of rap. If not for Queen Latifah, women may not feel as comfortable in the world of hip hop.
Music can rock your world, enlighten your mind and change your perspective. When you think of rap music who comes first to mind? Without hesitation, it must be the self acclaimed best rapper alive, Lil Wayne. He alone can make such statements as “My picture should be in the dictionary next to the definition of definition” (Wayne, “Shoot Me Down”). Lil Wayne is a prominent force in the rap world. His debut Album in 1999, Tha Block is Hot went double platinum upon its release and even his lowest selling album is still certified as gold according to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Rollingstone Magazine declares “Lil Wayne is one of the most popular — and prolific — recording artists in the world” (Kreps). Top this with
If they see rappers calling females out of their name with big chains and expensive cars throwing all their money in videos, then they look up to the guys they see in those videos and are going to buy in to what their seeing and hearing on the radio, on TV, on the internet, on the streets and in school regardless if it’s true just like advertisement. Even though many of the rappers that rap about misogyny sound like they live what their saying, many don’t actually believe what they’re saying they’ll still say it anyway just to get a paycheck. Yet what a lot of the public fell to realize is that rap is about business and making money and they’ll do whatever it takes to increase their profit. Yes, a lot of what these big time record labels put out is wrong on many levels, but when their banks accounts have a lot of zero’s, they can care less about how their music is affecting young people. This situation is very multi-sided to say the least which is why I feel this article deserves to receive the Most Controversial Issue

An example of sexism in “HIP-HOP: Beyond Beats & Rhymes” is when rapper Nelly takes a credit card and slides it down a women’s buttocks. This is very demeaning to women because it shows a person as an object rather than a human being. The action that Nelly takes part in is almost like he is saying that a women is worth no more than a credit card machine. This goes back to the objectification of women, seeing them as tools of pleasure. Byron Hurt also shows how every day fans of hip-hop treat women in a negative way as well.

Boulder in the State of Colorado is one of the places where weed has been legalized since 2014. Since then, people have been buying, selling and consuming it openly and without any legal trouble.
I liked the lyrics and the fact that Madiha Bhatti was pointing out about objectifying women in rap or hip-hop songs. She was direct and honest about the real story of our today's music. I will call her a brave person who mentioned this fact because her honesty may have brought many aggressive criticism and insulations for her. Today's rap music can be known as an offender to objectify women in the music. Although, not all music have this characteristic and degrade women, yet many popular rap songs are in this criteria.

The object under consideration is the barbie doll. A barbie doll is a toy for children who have moved on from developmental toys to more sophisticated toys. Barbie doll fit an unrealistic size and shape figured doll that kids can play with in various ways. They can play dress up and do different things due to barbie having multiple careers paths she is able to take. It does promote a positive image to young girls because it promotes the idea that you can be anything you want to be, however, it still plants the idea of an unrealistic body image. Barbie is slender and tall and barbie dolls do not deviate from thing and this is problematic because it creates a certain kind of standard young girls begin to believe in.
