Jerin Scroggins 8/01/17 Harassment and Sexual Violence According to the online program, Sexual harassment is a form of sex discrimination that violates the civil rights act of 1964. Sexual harassment includes sexual favors, non-welcome sexual advances, and other verbal and nonverbal conducts. What I found interesting was that the victim and the harassment may be a woman also it doesn't have to be the opposite sex. The harasser's behavior has to be unwelcome. The harasser could be someone the victim was close to. The harasser could also be the victim’s supervisor, coworker, or maybe even a supervisor somewhere else. Also the victim does not have to be the person getting harassed but could be offended by the behavior of the person that is harassing. According the Equal Employment opportunity Commission, Avoidance is the best tool to remove sexual harassment in the workplace. Employers are encouraged to take steps necessary to avoid sexual harassment from happening. They should clearly communicate to employees that sexual harassment will not be accepted. They can do so by providing sexual harassment exercise to their employees and by establishing an effective complaint or grievance procedure According to the Affirmative Consent Statute Law in New York, "every institution shall adopt the following definition of affirmative consent as a part of its code of conduct: Affirmative consent is a knowing, voluntary, and mutual decision among all participants to engage in sexual
