Sexual Orientation is related to the attraction a person feels towards a certain sex. If the person is attracted to people of a different sex, they are heterosexual but if they are attracted to people of the same sex then the person is homosexual. A person is bisexual when they are attracted to both sexes. (Savic et al, ____) In humans it is easy to ask people who they are attracted to and often people fall on a spectrum. This spectrum is called the Kinsey scale. In animals however, the sexual orientation can only be determined by observing which sex the animal approaches. Sexual orientation and same-sex relationships in humans is something that has gotten a lot of public attention in the past few decades. During the intrauterine period, the fetal brain can develop in a masculine way in the presence of testosterone and in a feminine way in the absence of it. This can lead to the determination of both gender identity and sexual orientation early in development. In my paper I will talk about homosexuality and the organizational effects that sex steroid hormones like testosterone and estrogen can have on sexual orientation by looking at disorders like CAH and CAIS and by comparing human non-heterosexuality to animal non-heterosexuality
