Your mistakes will most likely follow you throughout your life. Not only are we a super judgmental society, but we categorize what type of person someone is, by what they have done in there past. I personally think that is unfair but sometimes necessary. I believe that there are people who make horrible mistakes, and can learn from them. Shaka is a wonderful example of how someone can learn from there mistakes ,and be rehabilitated. Now he uses his past experiences to educated people, so hopefully they won't make the same mistake. With that being said, I dont necessarily think that we are " held hostage" by our past. Shaka doesnt seem like he is being held hostage by his past, he is using it to his advantage. Using his lesson for
Hawaii a huge tourist hotspot due to its lovable culture and beautiful landscape, is home to the volcano Hauna Loa, considered the largest volcano on the earth, located on the island of Hawaii which also holds four others is currently sleeping after its rude awakening roughly thirty years ago but it’s not certain when she might erupt again. Mauna Loa takes us more than half, due to technology that has been so fine-tuned that it could predict an eruption months before the actual event. There was a scare about ten years ago where scientist believed it could definitely erupt due to the amount of magma going into the magma chamber, but miraculously the magma camber was expanded and created more room for the magma to collect in. Another eruption
Cahokia was a large, complex settlement built by Native Americans that lived along the Mississippi River in about 950 C.E. near present-day St. Louis and East St. Louis, Illinois. At the city’s peak at around 1150 C.E., nearly ten thousand citizens lived on more than five square miles of 120 earthen “mounds.” At the time, Cahokia was the third-largest city in the Americas, and it contained multiple residential neighborhoods, plazas, and religious sites. Scientists and historians widely agreed that corn had been cultivated in this region since as early as the year 1000 C.E. At the location of the ancient city, archaeologists discovered corn fragments, such as kernels and cobs, in sites that were dated to the year 1000 C.E. and earlier. Several
The Cahokia Mounds is the largest mountain in north america. The Cahokia mountain have very good resources. That provided good water for the human and animal that live their. It had different types of habitats that allow humans to live their over time. The human migrated about 12,000 years ago in that area. This humans that live their over time start to growing crops like sunflowers, corn, and other plants. The human hunted fish and other wild animals for food. Their biggest success for the Cahokia people was agriculture, because they could grow enough food for their people. That is why the Cahokia mounds became more populated overtime. The Cahokia people could trapped the crops with other tribes for tools, clothes, food, and other things that
Hannah Senesh was a Hungarian Jew who was executed for the help of saving Jews. She was born on July seventeenth, 1921. Hannah started school shortly after her father died at the age of 6. By the time she graduated out of elementary school, she enrolled into a private school for all girls. The Cahokia lived in temples and teepees. I know teepees were a common place to live in back then, but I never knew that people could live in a temple. I thought temples were a place where people did religious things like praying. I feel like I’ve heard of the Cahokia people, but I know nothing about them. It was interesting that their dictator who they called “The Great Sun” would howl at the top of the temple every morning to determine whether it was morning or not. I wonder why the sun meant so much to them. They had a sun god and invented poles that aligned with the sun at the equinox and solstice.

Each year, the FBI provides research on law enforcement officers that have been killed or assaulted; many people know this as LEOKA. The goal of this data is to provide people with information through the UCR (uniform crime report) about law enforcement officers who have been feloniously and accidently killed, and also officers who have been assaulted in the line of duty. The uniform crime report presents this information through overviews and statistics about each of the victims, where they come from (the state they resided in), and also when and how they were killed. Throughout the years this has become an effective way to research and learn about this topic and understand why it is important to know about. Throughout this paper I am going to find patterns through different regions and states in the United States under all three of the topics LEOKA focuses on and find similarities and
It is my desire to be considered for the orthodontist assistant position at Shafer Smiles. As a servicewoman in the United States Navy for five years, I offered my best everyday: to my peers, my superiors, and to my country. In my transition from the armed forces, throughout college, and into the dental field I will continue to offer my best. By becoming a member of Shafer Smiles it would give me the opportunity to begin my journey in the dental field and give me the chance to work with people that possess the same passion I have for beautiful teeth at Shafer Smiles.
Speaking of skeletal remains, there is evidence of body modification at Cahokia. Gregory Perino discovered filed teeth at Cahokia. These findings showed observers that this practice was only done for a short period of time in the transition from Late Woodland Period to the Mississippian period. According to Perino, the siginificance of filing teeth cannot be explicitly determined but majority of them were thought to be ambassadors; but the fact that these filings were also found on young persons, throw off the conclusively of saying this was due to differentiating in social status (Perino 1967:541).
Starting in AD 800 and hitting its peak from 1050- 1200 AD, Cahokia covered six square miles with a population between 10,000 and 20,000 people (Jarus 1). During their 500 years, the Cahokians developed America’s first city and arguably the greatest civilization of its time, and then seemingly disappeared without a trace. But, despite Cahokia’s disappearance, a significant amount of history was left behind through earthen mounds, evolved social structures, advanced cultural practices, and Cahokia’s unexplained demise.
Thank you for your contribution to this week's discussion. Very interesting statement you make in that "as an administrator, your employees will have a clear understanding of conduct in the workplace and of course, no gray areas." Often, in supervisory positions, there will come a time when your integrity is challenged and you are placed in compromising situations. How do you avoid situations like this Tomika? How did you handle the situation where employees were taking property from their employer? "Ethics without action has no value. Just talking about your ethics but never acting on those convictions puts you at risk for ethical hypocrisy (Morrison, 2011)."
History is filled to the brim with individuals making choices that place them into a state of turmoil and distress. Though as every bad decision is made, more than often those who make the poor decision are given a second chance to right their wrong. As nice as it sounds to be able to fix the negative situation that they’ve placed themselves in, it’s surprising how often that second chance is taken for granted and simply gives those in the wrong the ability to go right back to the bad situation that they previously placed themselves in . In this instance, the second chance means nothing and is pointless when the person continues to do the things that caused him/ her to need one.
In both of these stories knowledge of their past has been withheld from the people so that they would not do it again. Personally I think that knowledge is the key to preventing the people from making the same mistake
My spring brek went wonderfull because I went to visit my cusins and the rest of my family in mexico for the first time in years since wen I was in fift grade. In mexico I played around with my cosins and family and went to the plaza of the town. The plaine ride was a little bumpy at liftoff and my parents had my earphones so I was stuck doing nothing in silence for 5 hours. After landing my legs fell assleep so I was screwed when I was geting off the plane onto the airport. When we made it to the entrance of the airport or exit we were sorounded by basically a lot of other people trying to pick up their family members . When my unckle picked us up and we made it to my granmas house, I started playing almost immediately with my cosins and had
