Over population is an extremely serious problem facing the world today. According to an article from Newsweek in Oct. 2009 called “Where do babies come from?”, today’s world population has reached over 6.6 billion people. Also the article mentioned that in 2009 57.4% of all new born babies who were born this year came from Asia alone. This is an issue because over population can lead to hasty consumption of resources. China who has one of the largest population in the world with over 1.3 billion people, has taken a stance against over population.
“Beijing lie between longitudes 115°25′E and 117°30′E and between latitude 39°26′N and 41°03′N in North China. Specifically, Beijing is located at the eastern edge of the Eurasian continent and belongs to the Bohai sea rim economic circle, with small plain in the south and mountains in the west and north, covering an area of 16,807.8 km2. The city’s climate is a monsoon-influenced humid continental climate.” (Gengyuan Liu et.al., 2011). As the capital city with full of the long history and Chinese traditional culture and one of three economic-centered cities, which are Beijing, Shanghai, Hongkong respectively, in China Beijing has been regarded as one successful city that has
The largest cities in China are over populated and polluted due to globalization. Peoples health is poor because of the air pollution from all the factories. People die quicker and not many babies are born to replenish the population. Most people around in the cities can be seen wearing masks.
In the few recent years, China has replaced United State to become the world largest economy. This Economic situation has opened an enormous number of opportunities for most industries to expand their operation from domestic market to international market. Shanghai, which is the China’s largest commercial and industrial city, focuses on 6 major industries which are information technology, automobile, large-scale electromechanical equipment, petrochemicals, heavy manufacturing and biopharmaceutical products (http://en.people.cn/200207/20/eng20020720_100055.shtml). With the virtually unlimited well-educated labour resources and the unique international location, Shanghai is
Ports attract industry and thus development. Larger settlements develop to accommodate the shipping trade like warehousing, processing and commerce. Shanghai is the busiest port in the world and has developed because of this. Due to its excellent port, Shanghai has been a leading power of China's economic and trade development since ancient times. Its economy has increased by over 10% for 15 consecutive years and it accounts for 25% of the total value of China's imports and exports and 12.5% of the total revenue. By being in the coastal zone it has been a beacon for development and it is that has allowed it to gain the position of the third highest GDP in China. Shanghai has and will continue to develop because of its location near the

When I was 10 years old, my mom and I went to Shanghai for a month and a half. Shanghai was very entertaining, it was very different from America in some ways, yet it also was in some ways very similar to America. Surprisingly, the most popular restaurant in Shanghai is actually KFC. The most popular part of Shanghai is on the other side of the river from all the buildings, known as “The Bund”. The view from the riverside was an amazing view, so everybody went there to see the skyline and take pictures. The metro station to go to the riverside was about 3 blocks away from the real riverside, so you had to walk through the main marketplace. Since this area was the most tourists visited the place, there were a lot of businesses and stores there.

It is known that China is extremely overpopulated with its 1,354,040,000 citizens as of January 2013 and “ as of September 2013, that number had grown even further to 1,360,720,000”. There’s “363.3 people per square mile!” (WPR). I’ve been interested in the future of our world and what will happen as we continue to grow. Knowing that “China represents 19.48 percent of the world’s total population” (China Employed Persons) helped me decide on which country I wanted to focus my report on.
Matt Rosenberg explains how one of the problems facing China in recent years is overpopulation. The Chinese government needed to make a policy to cope with the growing numbers of Chinese citizens.
Shanghai is not anymore where nightclubs never closed and prostitution was rampant that was depicted in Sin Cities. The power does not belong to the gangster or Western people but Chinese people now. However, Shanghai is still similar to the way the city was depicted in Sin Cities somehow. It is still a city full of life, unalloyed passion for making money and its open-door policy continued to attract an extraordinary collection dreamer, a clear example that every Chinese would like to come to Shanghai for looking for a job. Shanghai is a unique city with their own policy and their own architecture. Shanghai has been, is and will always develop and innovate.
Because of the continued low fertility, the number of young people decreased. The growing population of elderly people becomes a serious problem in recent years. According to the report “In China, the percentage of the population over the age of 65 years was 5 percent in 1982 and now stands at 7.5 percent but is expected to rise to more than 15 percent by 2025”(Hesketh). Moreover, Pascale states that “China’s one-child policy has prevented almost half a billion births, but has turned into a demographic time bomb as the population ages, storing up huge economic and social problems for the
