Some people relieve stress by journaling. Journaling allows people to clarify their thoughts and feelings, thereby gaining valuable self-knowledge. It’s also a good problem-solving tool; oftentimes, one can hash out a problem and come up with solutions more easily on paper. Journaling about traumatic events helps one process them by fully exploring and releasing the emotions involved, and by engaging both hemispheres of the brain in the process, allowing the experience to become fully integrated in one’s mind (Scott, 2009).
I’ve also read that journaling, as an added bonus, can improve your health; I could certainly benefit from that. Apparently, studies have shown that people who write about their feelings whether good ones or even bad can experience less stress and even increase stronger immune systems. We all know how keeping it all bottled up inside can be a recipe for disaster. Who knew journaling could increase wellbeing and
I’ve always asked myself,” what does it really take to make it big? To play amongst the greats, how could I do that? Me, Skylar Ross, a young man with this desire, the passion, wanting to play side by side with legends, to become someone people talk about, is what has pushed me all these years. It drove me to become a better player, to become more informed about the sport. This also influenced me to become more intertwined with school, that way I could have a better chance at getting a scholarship at a college.
Today I wrote this letter to introduce myself to you for the purpose of improving our collaboration during this semester. As a first son and a fifth child in the family, I’ve received many loves from my parents and my four older sisters. My family migrated from Vietnam to the United States five years ago and carried our new hopes and dreams to this place. I was having a tough time in maintaining my native language and learning English at the same time. I don’t have any interest in reading books because I‘ve never really enjoy any book that I’ve read in the past, or just because I haven’t read as much book as i thought I did. My goal for this year is to past every classes with an A. The reason is I don’t want to lose my financial aid, and
It was a quiet week in the Sadr City and the surrounding area. And we were gearing up to support another Red hat and Orange hat operation (Special Ops Teams) but this time the Seals were also included in this operation. The operation was to secure and capture a building with Four High-Value Targets (HVI’s) from Iran to include a high ranking officer out of the Jaish Mahdi Army (JAM) that were supposedly having a meeting. We were given four hours of prep time after Warning ORDER was given to the platoon. The Company has been waiting for this mission for about two weeks now. This time I was a Bradley Commander in the Platoon and we did not have much to get ready because we have our equipment and Bradley’s always ready and prepared for this mission or any mission within a short notice. This made things so much easier for me to concentrate for all things to have ready for the mission. This would give me the chance to cross talk with the Teams we were going to support, this would include call signs, radio freqs, CCP’s and exfill routes among other intelligence they could share with us. In the past three months the JAM had been avoiding the fighting, and we knew that the JAM would have their backs to the wall and would fight if they had to fight it out.
I was born in Australia on January 12, 1999, however I have lived on the Hawaiian Islands since I was five and for most of my life. I have traveled back to Australia several times to visit family and even though I’m an Australian i do consider myself semi-Hawaiian in a sense. To give back to the islands I would love to help the next generation to have a childhood that is filled to the brim with Hawaiian Nature. One idea to give them this experience would be to go into Waipio Valley with the children from different schools in the Big island and explore the valley with them. Some activities while we are in the valley would be hiking, examining native plants, horse riding, swimming in rivers and the ocean, and then
An experiment that demonstrated the benefits of expressive writing did so by measuring the health of participants when they were told to write about a trauma, a positive experience, or a control experience for two minutes for two days, (Burton &
Failure can present itself in many different flavors. The bitterest for me being when I failed to act. I had a black friend who was maliciously slandered by others in my school. I had no idea of the severity of the situation. While in a Ashland, a small town in a predominantly liberal Massachusetts, it didn't seem likely that racially charged verbal abuse would have ever been a latent threat at my school. He was harassed and accosted so much he transferred schools, but only after this was anything done about it.
As I sit in the chair at my desk, I listen to the music from library. I have many thoughts in my head, and I decide I want to draw something. As I get ideas, I pick up a utensil, and then I start to create shapes. It takes multiple tries to get it to the way I want it to look, so I keep trying. But then I compare both drawings, which one looks better? Should I choose this one?
I don’t ever remember a time when I tried to save face with my friends or peers. I believe that I have always been honest and upfront to the best of my abilities. I do, however, know of a time that my cousin, Dana, faced this problem.
At the sunset of another beautiful summer’s day, Bella sat on the back porch at the Black’s house, waiting for Jake to return from a run into town for car parts. According to their routine that summer, she’d finished her classes over at the community college and then, came over to the res to hang out with him and “his boys” as he referred to them. With a smirk, she shook her head. “His boys” consisted of Quil and Embry, his closest friends and confidants since he became Alpha because as they say, some things never change for those three had been best friends ever since they drew their first breath.
I am very unconfident when it comes to writing stories, so I have a feeling I did pretty horrible. However, I did feel like my word choice was greater than usual. For example I wrote marginally in my story, which I usually don't use. I tried to use figurative langauge, however that didn't go very smoothly in the
Looking back on my life I can honestly, I had rough. Growing up with an abusive father and an alcoholic mother wasn't the best; but what can I say Allison Kristen Wright and Thomas Joe Wright had one hell of a daughter about 35 years ago. Standing a spectacular five feet tall, 120 pounds I am one feisty woman. Although a fan of the pants suit, one might see me in m signature black dress and heels. Black is my favorite color because it compliments my blue eyes and bold attitude. Through the seasons I stick to this style, even when my pale white skin turns to the average tomato red. I remember in school I used to get bullied for my fair skin, which is one of the many reasons I graduated from high school early and applied to Bucknell University as soon as possible. After applying and getting in I packed my bags asap.In ____ I graduated from Bucknell with a degree in Business. I later got my graduates degree in business through Duke University in North Carolina. After getting my graduates I returned home to Scranton, Pennsylvania. When I returned back to my parents home I soon learned that my father was in jail and my mother was in rehab. Our house had been repossessed and the 15 cats we owned, all were dead. This saddened me because I knew I should've helped them, but at the
"Who's is it" I said excitedly with a glowing expression on my face "where did it come from" "Did you buy it" I hurriedly asked my dad 1 million questions waiting on an response. He just stood there with a smile on his face barely biting his lip with happiness in his eyes. I don't think I ever seen this kind of expression on his face. I think that day his excitement was matching mine.
By keeping record of my daily life, feelings for the people and comments on the events, I have also grown to be more aware of my self-reflection. This also benefits me on my writing skills as years have passes through. Furthermore, I have also become more confident in my social life due to the self-encouragement through the diaries. And the most important thing is, I am willing to share my diaries to my families and friends as a good way to help us recall our memories.
