She Brews The first women’s and children shelter was Pringle Patrick house built in 1877 in the United States. Today there are many shelters across America. These shelters help women that come from a drug addiction, incarceration, abusive relationships, or that are homeless. Organizations such as the Women in Transition (W.I.T.) offers help and support to the women in need. This organization began in 1997. Primarily W.I.T. is geared to help women re-enter society after successfully completing a 12 step program while incarcerated. This is a transitioning to program which also pairs them with mentors after being released. Since 2013 there have been 748 women that served in the W.I.T program. Only 3% have returned to their previous lifestyle
