Some of my traits include athletic ability, along with the ability to learn fast along with great determination. I have been homeschooled my whole life and have taught myself to work with distractions in the room. But I have never been a good writer. I am eager to learn and hope I will be better by the end of the year. The answers my parents wrote down for the sheet Mr. Limback gave me are different from mine. I was not expecting them to say the things they did because I don’t believe they are true, of course that’s just my opinion. When I compare my answers from the question sheet Mr. Limback gave to my parents, they were very different. They believe i am a good writer and i don’t. They know that i am determined and eager to learn, but they
I believe that one of my greatest strengths when I write is how well I can clearly comprehend a prompt, and answer it correctly and thoroughly. I take time to think about what I am going to write, and structure it well. Along with structuring my writing, my use of vocabulary
I can also write fluently, accurately and legibly on a range of topics. I use spelling and punctuation accurately in order to make meaning clear.
I guess you could say my whole life has revolved around writing. Long before I was born, a boy- now known in North Carolina for his contribution to the arts- named Ira David Wood III, wrote a poem for my grandmother. It was for a baby shower, and the poem was ‘The Birth of Casey Draughon’, a humorous story about how my grandparents were so excited to have their assumed son, and find in the end that had a daughter instead (the best part is, that baby was my mother). So, already having a poem as a namesake, it’s fair to assume that by some far-fetched correlation I was predisposed to enjoy writing.
Firstly, when it comes to my strengths in writing, I do not believe I carry many. Of the few I possess, my word selection is a constant advantage for me. I try not to settle for undereducated vocabulary. I see this as taking the easy way out and I do not believe I learn from this. Another one of my strengths when it comes to writing is my adequate spelling. Accurate spelling is strongly in my nature. When I am reading I can sense when a word is spelled incorrectly. My final strength in writing is organization. I believe my work is clear to follow. This is important so I can get my message across to my reader. Although I am solid in these aspects of my writing, they
Although my writing doesn't sound smart i do think I have a very creative mind and because if that i can type or write a story or a paper pretty quickly.
My greatest assets as a writer are proofreading and research. I have a wide area of interests and it’s hard for me to decide which thing I would like to write about. I love to research and study politics, and coming from Alabama I have a front row seat to one of the most corrupt governing bodies in the United States. Another thing that all Bama people know about is college football. I started following the games in elementary school and they are as much a part of my life as any comic or book I have ever read. My greatest interest is writing for comics. Since I was a small boy I have gravitated to the world of superheroes and super villains. I enjoy taking a character and making them fight an injustice or stand up for a cause. The best characters always have a mountain to climb; I enjoy putting higher and higher peaks on that mountain.
I received my writing abilities from my family, specifically the women’s side of my mom’s side of the family. Throughout the years writing had been a way for me to bond with my mother. Considering that we both shared the ability, any
In the short story “Charles” written by Shirley Jackson is about a boy named Laurie who goes to Kindergarten everyday and tells his parents about a troublemaker in class named Charles who really is Laurie. This short story shows how parents believe everything that their children say, but they sometimes can be dishonest. Laurie goes to Kindergarten everyday then comes home to tell his parents lies about Charles the troublemaker, who is a fake person. One example from the text is, “Laurie thought. “It was Charles,” he said.”
One skill that I have as a writer that I think is my strong suit is being able to think creatively. In my opinion fiction writing is one of the best type of writing there is. For me it’s easy. I can use my own ideas and think of some crazy plots and twist within the story. I’ve written stories before right off the top of my head, like it was just a second nature.
When I am writing narratives, I use many different characteristics to describe the characters, and when I was watching Ted Talks and doing the chart, it made me think about the speaker’s features and how I can use them to describe my characters better. Also, I use my time efficiently I don’t fool around and talk to others. I get right to my work and complete it. I accept writing criticism very well too, I use it to improve my writing. Another strength that I have in writing is I have excellent spelling, and I punctuate very well. Likewise in writing, I also have my strengths in reading. While reading a novel, I can illustrate what is going on in the book or the story in my mind which helps me understand that story more. It helps me to ‘get into’ the book. Also, another strength that I have in reading is that I can annotate and get information out of books very well. That, coupled with the fact that I am very good at figuring out hidden messages or finding the theme of the book. Notes I take from the novel help when I am flipping back through the book to support my theme or message with evidence.
Academic writing also needs to develop, because I always got a low grade on any written assignment that needs to hand it in. The way to grow this skill is to keep read book and newspaper and paste the reading that red on the notebook also the same strategy with reading is keep listening to the radio.
Writing is a skill that takes time to develop. Knowing your strengths and weaknesses is very important. Being aware of your strengths can help you stand out, and your weaknesses show you areas where improvement is needed. Like everybody I have weaknesses as well as strengths, and being conscious of them helped me improve my writing skills.
My parents said some very interesting this about me that i thought she wouldn’t put. She said that science and reading are my favorites for one i hate science but i love English. She also stated that she hopes i get more confident in math which i need very much. And of course
My most favorite genres are action, adventure, and mystery. I would read about any fiction book (non-fiction is a whole different story) and it will probably be an okay book, but nothing can beat action, adventure, and mystery. I'm okay with non-fiction but they really aren't my favorites. I like some non-fiction books but others they get really boring and I start to fall asleep. If you told me to read a dictionary I would fall asleep before I got to the word aardvark, the second word in many dictionaries. My strength in writing is creativity, at least I think so, I try to excite or grab the attention of the reader in different ways instead of the norm. Grammar is my main downfall in writing, I always some how mess up, even if it's only a
Writing is an important skill as it improves a lot of things such as creativity. To become a better writer is major as in school writing is a major thing that I am not bad at but it is something I can definitely work on. To achieve this skill, I can do simple thing such as spend more time on my work and work on literacy activities outside of school. When I do this it will help me with my literacy skills. So a goal for me to achieve by the end of the Grade seven is to improve my writing.
