The only main resource was wikipedia, but it did describe a lot of what I know and many new things about him that I didn’t know, and it was very clear on how it was written and what it talked about. It wasn’t confusing because I had already known much about Zack Hample, and it wasn’t difficult to find because Wikipedia is a very popular website to find information on any topic you’d like such as Zack Hample. Since I was given the chance to do a research essay on anything I wanted, I would not change anything I did with my essay because Zack Hample is very
It wasn’t that long ago when I became in love with the game of baseball. I still remember the day that my neighbor met me outside in the front yard just as we always did. It has been approximately two years ever since that Friday after school he asked me if I want to go to a Angel’s baseball game. I decided to go nothing better to do that day, when I got there it was such a rush seeing all the people that came to watch a baseball game. I followed my neighbor down the line, eagerly I waited to try to obtain a baseball players autograph. My friend gave me a baseball to try to get autographed, and later that day I luckily got my first baseball players autograph. His name was Dino Ebel the bench coach for the Angels,
Through my entire life I had been playing baseball. Baseball was the one thing that consumed my life. It was a job to me, not a passion. That was the first problem that resulted in a complete 360 in my life. When I started to play baseball, it was in a way satisfying and fun. It was something every little kid did over the weekend, as the family watched them sit on the ground pick flowers and play with the dust. Something so simple that made me feel so, existential. It gave me so much, it was great. As I began to realise the potential life this game could give me at around age 9, I began to become serious about baseball. I quickly began to feel like a superstar at the local Little League. “This is great!” I thought. Running circles around everyone, people would come to the field to see MaHall’s team play. As the years grew on, leading my teams to championship games years in a row, it would come crashing down. When I was 11, I was on the Dodgers, we were the best team in the league, and we knew it. Let’s go back in time for a bit. It’s the last inning and we are down by just one. Here I go up to bat with a man on first base. As I walk up to the plate I could hear the catcher say, “oh no.” He knew who I was, as everyone did. “I’ve hit many walk offs and clutch hits before, how was this different?” I remember thinking. Well past Jonnie, here’s how it’s different, it’s the championship game,
Nothing beat the overwhelming emotion of stepping up on the pitcher’s mound and hearing the chant of my name, my heart clawing its way out of my chest. Before throwing the first warmup pitch, my mind raced through the entire season. How, as a team, we have made history winning all three major tournaments in the high school level. We had beaten many top competitors and lost plenty crushing defeats as well. My mind pondered, which situation will I be in today, glorious victory or destructive loss. This is the feeling I lived for during high school, it was my sole purpose. However, this was merely one minute of that fateful day in which I played prodigiously trying to win a baseball game.
Mia Hamm once said "I am building a fire and everyday I train, I add more fuel, and at just the right moment, I light the match" ("Mia Hamm Quotes"). Mia Hamm appeals to me because she is a really good soccer player. She inspires me to keep trying and that you can turn a dream into reality if you try your hardest. Mia Hamm can inspire any soccer player because all they need to learn about is her biography, her soccer career, and her major accomplishments.
John Smoltz, a Cy Young Award winner and World Series title holder writes the book starting and closing describing the struggles, “career ending” injuries and hard work that it took over his 14 years in the Major leagues to earn the title of being one of the greatest pitchers to ever step foot on the mound. At 7 years old Smoltz decided that he was going to play baseball in the Major leagues for the Detroit Tigers. In 1985 Smoltz was drafted by his dream team only to be traded to the Atlanta Braves in 1987. In Chapter One Smoltz talks about the kind of person he is and what he had to do to further his career as a major league baseball player after many injuries that should have destroyed his career. The reader of Starting and
Imagine for a moment, that you are at the end of your final year of Little League baseball in the late 1950’s. Your idol, along with thousands of other youngsters back then, was number seven for the New York Yankees – Mickey Mantle. You taught yourself to switch hit just like Mickey and you have just finished your baseball season with the highest batting average in the entire league. In addition, to add to the drama, your father is a staunch Boston Red Sox fan and would a few years later take you to Fenway Park to watch the immortal Ted Williams play his last game for the Red Sox in Boston. Baseball is definitely in your blood and apparently very much in your future.
Ever since I was old enough to walk, I loved to play baseball. Baseball was the first true love of my life. I had always imagined myself playing in the big leagues along with Derek Jeter and all of the other big named players. I had the same fantasy along with every other ten year old boy that loved to play the sport of baseball. The only problem with my fantasy was a deal that I made to myself. I told myself," Dalton, if you don't hit an over-the-fence homerun, then you will not play in the big leagues."
Hatshepsut was the fifth pharaoh of the 18th dynasty of Ancient Egypt (, she left a legacy….)who left a legacy of being one of the most successful pharaohs Egypt had seen. Hatshepsut ruled for twenty years, which is longer than any other female ruler of an indigenous dynasty. She was the wife of Tuthmosis II, who died before she had a son. In order to come into power she became a regent for her stepson, Tuthmosis III, and soon delegated all the power to herself. In order to gain the respect she wished, she was often portrayed as a masculine woman with a pharaoh’s kilt and a beard. While she was the ruler the trading network was rebuilt and the economy flourished. Another thing that

Hokule’a began in 1973 with Ben Finney, and many other canoe enthusiasts, who created the Polynesian Voyaging Society with the intention to sail from Hawaii to Tahiti and back. The design for the Hokule’a was made by Herb Kawainui Kane and Kenneth Emory. In 1975, construction of the Hokule’a was finished and by 1976, the roundtrip from Hawaii to Tahiti began. The whole purpose of the Hokule’a, meaning Star of Gladness, was to bring back the skill, navigation, and bravery that the Polynesians had as they sailed to their new home, Hawaii. More importantly, to prove that the voyage of the Polynesians to the islands was not a work of fiction, but a completely possible thing to accomplish.

From a young age, I was always a baseball fan. Growing up near St. Louis, I was an enormous Cardinals fan. I read about all the famous cardinal players, especially the former players. Stan Musial always stood out to me. He was reputable and seemed to give respect to anyone that he encountered. Before researching for this project, I never knew that Stan Musial went to college, let alone sought financial aid (specifically from this organization). To see that he not only became a legend in the realm of baseball but also graduated from post-secondary education motivates me to try harder. One of my favorite quotes from Stan Musial inspires me the most. "I could always hit. I learned to hit with a broomstick and a ball of tape and I could always
