I read the short story, “Sheila Mant” by W.D Wetherell. In this story a boy falls in love with a girl… not any girl but with Sheila Mant. All summer long he tries to show off to his “dream” girl. One day he had the guts to ask her out on a date. He wants to take her to a concert on a canoe but Sheila dislikes anything to do with fishing. As the boy was paddling across river he heard a sound that was very familiar. It was a bass, but not any kind of bass. The boy described it as the biggest bass he has ever seen in his life. Would he chose the bass over the girl or would he chose to lose the bass for the girl of his dreams? in this journal, I will be predicting whether the boy will chose Sheila or the bass. G.
