The stories of Sherlock Holmes provide us with two fictional characters that are virtually polar opposites: Holmes and Watson. Holmes is the observant, deceptive, know-it-all detective, and Watson is his somewhat unobservant, quiet, and intelligent assistant. Many may discover that one of the two are somewhat relatable. In my case, that relatable character would be Watson. Therefore, my personality and actions are more similar to Watson’s than they are to Holmes’s. I am more like Watson considering as I am a loyal companion, I have emotions, and I accept that I do not know everything. One way that I am similar to Watson is that I have been a loyal comrade to several people. The prime example of this would be his submissive actions in …show more content…
This reveals that Watson has been absorbed in his marriage, which is an union full of emotion and care, while Holmes does drugs and sits in his office chasing down criminals. I myself am rather sensitive and feel many different emotions. I also put people before profession when I left school early to visit my father and grandmother (at different times) when they were in the hospital. Their lives are more important. To put family over profession is to put love over greed, and I believe that I do that well. Watson, like me, does not become upset when reminded that there are many concepts that he does not know or observe. He is reminded of this by Holmes in The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle. “‘I can see nothing,’ said I, handing it back to my friend. ‘On the contrary, Watson, you can see everything. You fail, however, to reason from what you see. You are too timid in drawing inferences.’ ‘Then pray, tell me, what is it that you can infer from this hat?” (Doyle 2).This shows Watson being reminded that he is not all-knowing and not lashing out. He takes it, knowing it is true. Although I am a terrible perfectionist, I understand that I am far from perfect and all-knowing. I, too, am well aware of my own ignorance and the ignorance of humankind
Larson uses characters with similar mindsets to illustrate his point across in the book. Both Holmes and Burnham are ambitious, intelligent, and both work towards a similar goal of fulfilling their dreams endless impossibilities. So, their main similarity is their determination to fulfill their goals. However, the main difference between Daniel Burnham
Most Americans often compare themselves with characters from their favorite movie or book. In fact, some people may even visualize themselves as their favorite character when they are watching a movie or reading a book. I relate most with the movie character Tip from the animated movie Home. Tip is very similar to me because she loves traveling and sight-seeing, she adores her pets, and she would do anything for her mom.
Emma Watson uses ethos to convince the audience that she is a credible source. Towards the beginning of her speech, Watson explained that her, “girlfriends [dropped]... out of sports…”(1) because appearing muscly would not fit their gender stereotype. Watson mentions her personal experience to make her credible. By mentioning this, people will know why she is familiar with feminism. Since she has experienced gender inequality firsthand, she knows why feminism is necessary and more people will find her as a reliable source. Later in her speech, she mentions a speech made by Hillary Clinton in 1997.
I am sure that everyone, at least once, has compared themselves to a character from their favorite literary work or movie. Oftentimes parallels can be, and are drawn between the audience members and the characters on the page or screen. Other times people contrast themselves to characters, pointing out the stark differences between their real world lives and the high-adventure thrills of the life of the character in question. In this essay,I will compare myself to the personalities of Winston Smith from “1984,” putting focus on our shared inquisitive and skeptical nature, as well as that of Spongebob Squarepants, with his cheerful disposition and sense of childlike wonder. And finally, I will be comparing myself with Russell, the kid from UP.
Watson’s theory was based on the ideas of classical conditioning of Ivan Pavlov who used animals for research and believed that they could be taught anything by watching and copying others. Watson further developed the theory applying it on people’s behaviour, based on the conditioning and training of behaviour and on the belief that anyone could be taught anything as we are all born with the same abilities, disregarding feelings and emotions.
Mariana Adams-Foster is quite similar to a person I know well. I am that person. She is a character from The Fosters. Her character and I have all sorts of things in common with each other. A character from a book or movie that I think is similar to me is Mariana Adams-Foster from The Fosters because we share several physical characteristics, character traits, and interests.
Watson calls Rosalind “Rosy”, which by giving her a nickname and not calling her by her full name shows he has no respect for her. He describes her as “termagant...she refuses to emphasize her female

Learning more about another individual can be interesting in ways that you didn’t know you had similarities. While I am competitive in a way Waverly could relate to, our family has impacted us in different ways and different styles to get us to this point. Although Waverly and I come from different backgrounds, we both have some similarities, and differences, about problem solving and our personality.
Watson describes women as second-class citizens at the start of the story without directly saying so. Watson comments: “My own
Aristotle’s teachings in The Politics and the Constitution of Athens leads us down the path of his thought journey as he lectures on the ideal State and populace. Aristotle focuses in on the distinctions between different constitutions, or governments, in a major way in this grouping. These distinction are very important to his final ideal State. Going through the teachings one begins to wonder how one’s own constitution would be categorised by Aristotle. Aristotle would classify America as a constitutional democracy, or Polity, based on the original framing of the constitution as well as how our government stands today.
She's a really contemporary female, particularly for the 1950s. She brought her California design to the university and it is incredibly enthusiastic about each arts as well as the pupils of her. Watson thinks which the pupils of her are bright and young and may do a lot with the day of theirs. The cultural conformity they are supposed to be to focuses on after matrimony for females. Although an extremely good connect is produced in between the mentor as well as pupils, Watson's perceptions are actually. very contemporary as well as incompatible together with the primary society of this university.
Drugs and alcohol have become such a huge part of today’s society. Everywhere you turn, you see different people involved in substance abuse. On the television, in the community, and in the school, people are getting buzzed or high. In Worland, it is so great to see the effect these substances have on people you know and love. It is especially exceptional to see people use the very addictive drug, heroin. It has gotten so popular and become the center of a person’s life. Substance abuse is a great way for people to live their lives and has so many benefits. What would we do without this in our society? How would it thrive? The three major benefits that substance abuse has on people, is how it decides a person’s life, draws families together,
What mainly gave rise to Watson addressing this topic was her emotions attached to the burdens people have felt because of gender inequality. Watson used pathos, an appeal to emotion, to grasp the audience’s attention. Watson provides examples of events in her own life such as, “When at 14, I started to be sexualized by certain elements of the media,” which has helped spark her interest in taking steps to end gender inequality (Watson). Watson provided numerous examples of other women, “When at 15, my girlfriends started dropping out of sports teams because they didn’t want to appear muscly,” as well as examples of males (Watson). Watson recognizes the fact that men are typically less likely to join in the fight for gender equality. In order for Watson to later “invite” men to join the
Music has been a major hobby of mine since 7 years old when I started learning the piano. Since then I have picked up the flute, the violin and the guitar along the way. Before attending my current high school, which is Auckland International College, I attended Westlake Boy High School. WBHS is a school where the students are classed based on their academic abilities. The classes are segmented into 3 main sections: A-class, B-class and C-class. A-class students are those who have higher academic abilities. The academic abilities of the students are gauged by an overall exam at the end of each year.
