The All American Girls Professional Baseball League Before we told our daughters that they could be anyone, or anything they wanted to be, we told them that they could only be what was acceptable for women to be, and that they could only do things that were considered "ladylike." It was at this time, when the nation was frenzied with the business of war, that the women of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League decided that they could do and be whatever it was that they chose. These women broke free of the limitations that their family and society had set for them, and publicly broke into what had been an exclusively male sport up until that time.

The long series of events started when I was seven years old and my parents signed me up for Bobby Sox softball. I soon grew to love the sport and came back to the organization every year until I turned ten. I stopped playing for the league and tried out for a local travel ball team and made it. I soon had a career out of playing travel ball, it was my whole life. I had been on many teams and created many memories. As I got older, I didn’t enjoy playing softball as much as I did before. I was scared to tell this my dad this because he had high hopes that I would play in college. When I told my dad that I wanted to quit softball, I learned that I need to do what makes me happy even if it disappoints people.

In the fall of 1942, many minor league teams were lost to the war as men were being drafted at 18 years old. With the financial support of Wrigley, the original All-American Girls Softball League emerged and was a non profit organization. Unfortunately, United States history has an inhumane past with regards to African Americans. African Americans have been subject to segregation, prejudice, discrimination, and other unfair practices imposed up until the latter half of the nineteenth century. These same factors even permeate into American baseball where African American baseball players were segregated and treated unfairly despite many of them being more talented than their white counterparts. However, despite decades of injustice toward African American baseball players, the integration of black players into the Major Leagues eventually occurred. By analyzing the effects of World War II for African American baseball players, Branch Rickey’s motives and signing of Jackie
The St. Louis Cardinals is a baseball team that is well-known around the world. They are also widely known to be spectacular in their leadoff batting in recent years. For every team, the top of the lineup is where the best all-around hitter is placed, and every year there is a battle for that spot. To be the best all-around hitter, a player has to have an outstanding On Base Percentage (OBP), Batting Average (BA), and On Base Plus Slugging Percentage (OPS). Two players that the Cardinals typically choose to bat leadoff are Matt Carpenter and Kolten Wong. Kolten Wong can hold his own in the Major Leagues, however, Matt Carpenter is the definite choice when it comes to leadoff batting.
Over a 114-year period between 1901 and 2015, the New York Yankees baseball organization has taken sole positioning as the most successful franchise in the professional baseball world. As a whole the franchise has won: 43 American League pennants and 27 world championship titles. With statistics and accomplishments this vast, it is no wonders the Yankees are renowned and acknowledged as one of the most outstanding baseball teams in the sport. The New York Yankee’s franchise was founded in 1901, in Baltimore, Maryland. The franchise played its inaugural season two year later on January 9, 1903. The founders of this historic franchise organization were two gentlemen by the names of Frank Farrell and Bill Devery. This franchise has dominated the sport of Major League Baseball over a century, recording 20 seasons with at least 100 wins “Hiergesell.” When the franchise was moved to Manhattan from Baltimore they received the name Highlanders and were relocated to their new home field known as Hilltop Park “Yankees Timeline.” The 1923 squad would always be the most memorable team because they defeated the New York Giants to earn the first of a total of 27 World Series championships (the all-time record in professional baseball). The New York Yankees (1936-1939 and 1949-1953) and the Oakland A’s (1972-1974), are the only two franchises in all of baseball to win the fall classic in three consecutive seasons. The Yankees are one of the few franchises in the sport of Major League
The history of baseball in the United States can be traced to the 18th century, when amateurs played a baseball-like game by their own informal rules using improvised equipment. The popularity of the sport inspired the semipro national baseball clubs in the 1860s.
In a particularly small small town in Kansas you could hear the crack of a baseball bat connecting with the ball, if you followed the sound you would find a small worn baseball field that has been used for ages being used by 13 boys and girls. The team didn’t have any leagues to play in or any other teams for the next 100 miles so every day they met and one player batted while the rest fielded. They called themselves the “Loners”
