Sefa left, and Gwen ducked into the reading nook, which was dimly lit by electric lanterns hanging from the ceiling. She settled onto the beanbag chair beside Gareth. He was already absorbed in the tale of the red and white dragons. Sefa mentioned Gareth was a little behind in terms of his reading ability, but Gwen was impressed with how hard he tried. When she looked at Gareth, she saw nothing but pure determination. And that adorably bright smile. He glanced up from his book, grinning. “I’m on page five already.” “You speedy reader.” Gwen ruffled his soft hair. Gareth snapped the book shut. “I like the book, but I want to talk to you.” “Sure. Go ahead.” “Okay, there’s this girl I like in my class. Her name is Vivian. I told her I …show more content…
“But he’s the best grandpa. I won’t let anyone say anything mean about him.” “Your mother told me all about him. He’s a wonderful grandpa. We all deal with loss differently.” “How do you deal with loss, Gwen?” he asked, his gaze searching. “I used to isolate myself, but now, I talk to people. My friends, my therapist, and you.” “I’m your friend, Gwen. I’m proud to be your friend.” “And I’m proud to be yours.” XXXX It was Monday, and Gwen flipped open her laptop in Probability and Statistics. The course took place in a large classroom, not a lecture hall, since there were only thirty people enrolled in this section. She settled in and waited for the professor to enter, hoping that Gwaine was recovering from his cold. He’d called her yesterday morning and sounded like utter death. She jokingly told him to stay home and keep his germs to himself, so they’d hadn’t had the chance to chat. She’d check in with him after class. The professor, all business, marched in. “Hello, class,” he said. “Go ahead and log into the portal. You’ll see your grades from the recent exam there. I just finished grading them. I know many of you will be disappointed, but the concepts on the test are things you need to grasp. If you’re struggling, now is the time to ask for help.” Tension stiffening her shoulders, Gwen logged in. When she saw the grade sixty-eight pop onto the screen, it was all she could to
“For the next two days, Audrey lay in bed, trying to catch up on her sleep and stressing over taking sick days for the first time in her two and a half years of highschool.” (177)
“I’ve been looking for him,” she said, clutching her books. “I tried calling him yesterday, but he never
“Are you going to open it,” Cristina said with an eyebrow raised higher than the other.
She made it in the nick of time, falling gratefully into her seat. As was normal for this class, the teacher droned on and Thalia began to daydream.
“I’ll have 6 eggs, a big glass of orange juice, a banana, and some oatmeal please” said DeSean “ You’re one crazy kid” said the female bartender at IHop. “Yes ma’am, I might be crazy ,but ready for football this morning” DeSean responded swiftly. The bartender responded almost immediately saying “Damn right, hope you do well this morning, I’ll have that food out real quick honey”. DeSean waited for less than 5 minutes before chowing down on over 1000 calories. He exchanged some words with the bartender and he was off to football.
She had arrived to school and looked a little pale and shaky. This was an indication that something was up, but she kept yelling,“ I am fine!”
“Are you saying I'm supposed to entertain you?” Kid cocked a brow as he looked back to the page he was on, pretending to be reading again. He already knew if he started to, she'd end up talking, making him loose his train of thought and have to reread the paragraph once more.
“Come on Em, time for class,” Raina called over my shoulder. I could always depend on her to get me to class on time. We're in a program called BioMedical Studies. We take classes about how to deal with emergencies.
“I 'm a good friend of Jeremy 's, we met in grade school and we haven 't lost touch as of right now.”
“I fell,” Madge answers through gritted teeth, clutching her calf tightly as she blinks out tears from her eyes as quickly as she can. It was just her luck that she’d fall off the wall like a complete idiot right after being told to quit. Maybe the odds really weren’t in her favor.
Addison deviated from the course syllabus Monday morning because the anticipated phone call from Dr. Jankalski trumped everything. She had prepared an exercise that would require the students to apply the skills she had taught them in a real-life scenario. She wanted to see how deeply the students were willing to dig to discover the root of an issue, on what merit they would base their assessment and solutions. Most anyone could answer simple test questions but putting skills to use in a meaningful way would gauge the depth of their understanding and how well they had received the lesson.
1. The house was set in the middle of a field or at least what used to be a field. As I walked into the house, I could smell rot all around me. I could feel the chill of the house creeping into my bones-I could almost taste it. To my left was a broken table, with a dusty old vase next to it. In front of me were some stairs. I walked up those stairs, and with each step I could hear the stairs creak beneath me, just waiting for a chance to snap. I looked up when I got to the top, and in front of me was a room that seemed to be an old kitchen, to my left a bedroom, and to my right a small closet. I entered the kitchen. In the shelves were a few old food cans. There were a sink and a table. Nothing much to see in there. I walked into the
I shoot up from my bed in the middle of the dark in a cold sweat, my eyes adjust slowly as I rub them in the darkness. I glance beside me at a familiar silhouette, it's none other than Thomas and I note his arm carefully constructed around my waist. In the few years I've known him I've realized this nervous tick about him, like a child, he finds the need to cling onto something in order to sleep. There have been moments in the night where I've found him cradling me like a beloved toy in his arms possessively but in the morning he's always gone and he leaves no evidence of his actions.
“I know you’re longing to get out of here and explore on your own, and today your request is granted, but on one condition – you must take Sparkle with you, as she knows more than you do. She will make sure you return here safely. The ruling power has surely run your image through facial recognition software, and the dark elves are curious about you.
Tensions were rising higher and higher, slowly reaching their destination. Looking at the large white building with many glass windows and a large flight of steps. Isaac lowered his window, sticking his head out to observe the area around him. He noticed the research center seemed much more peaceful than he’d imagined, but with the Sangrine Syndicate around he knew the peace would be short lived. Pulling into the parking lot, there were multiple cars parked. Sabra knew what had happened inside, not saying a word to anyone. She parked her car near the entrance of the parking lot. Team S.P.D found a place to park also, exiting the car to group up with Sabra and the others. Looking at each other, they moved towards the building
